The Beautiful Brother of the Orion’s Family (Wearing Book)- 6

Tang Xu realized that he didn't have another pot to use, except for a small pot meant for boiling medicinal soup, which was currently filled with residue.

He couldn't help but grimace in disdain. Liu Xiangxiang was truly adept at making do with whatever she had. The pot hadn't been cleaned out, and the medicinal residue inside had been left to sit, saved only by the recent cool temperatures; otherwise, it would have turned foul within days.

He couldn't help but curse the author for creating such a pitiful character. But this was just a passing thought. Since he was here now, he had to live his own life. As for the storyline, to hell with it.

The wild vegetables he had gathered were blanched, then cooled in water and spread out on a cloth to dry. He planned to store them for a couple of days before they turned moldy. Without a refrigerator to preserve them for long, he couldn't afford to let them spoil. However, he intended to freeze them once the temperature dropped, preserving them as a delicacy for the winter when fresh greens were scarce.

As the aroma of the chicken filled the air, he started steaming mantou, using whole wheat flour instead of refined flour. The sourdough starter, stored in the cupboard, was still good, a fist-sized lump that showed it was regularly used and well-maintained.汤旭 felt reassured; he rather liked sourdough starter. In his childhood, his grandmother always used sourdough to make bread before they switched to store-bought yeast.

The basin was placed by the stove, and after a while at the right temperature, it could start bubbling. He lifted the lid and glanced at the chicken soup inside. The chicken meat was almost cooked because the hen he slaughtered was quite fat, and a thin layer of oil had floated to the top of the soup.

The fragrance accompanied by the hot steam rushed into his nose. Tang Xu took a breath and scooped out the whole chicken. After sprinkling some salt into the soup, he tasted it. Not bad, no fishy smell.

He poured the chicken soup into a basin and covered it. At this moment, he heard the voices of Tang Erhu and Liu Xiangxiang outside the door.

He wondered where Liu Xiangxiang had gone, but it turned out she went to work in the fields with Tang Erhu.

That's good, he didn't know how to grow grains. Planting some vegetables in the yard would be enough. So he wouldn't go to the fields to help, lest he would tire himself out and be criticized for not doing farm work well.

Tang Erhu smelled the aroma of meat when he was outside the courtyard gate. As he entered the yard, the aroma became stronger as he approached the stove room. Unable to resist, he took several deep breaths, his throat rolling as he swallowed saliva. "So fragrant."

Liu Xiangxiang also smelled the aroma of meat, but whenever she thought that this aroma came from the hen that died miserably, her heart clenched with pain.

Tang Xu came out of the stove room, wiping his hands with a smile on his face, and said to the two of them, "Dad and mom are back, and the chicken soup is ready. Let me serve you a bowl first."

Without waiting for their response, he turned and entered the stove room. In no time, he brought out two bowls of oily chicken soup.

The chicken soup was clear and translucent. Although there were no other decorations like wolfberries or coriander to add color, just the fragrant aroma alone was irresistible.

Tang Yang ran over, pulling on Tang Xu's clothes, shouting, "I want to drink too, give me a bowl too."

Tang Xu glanced at him with lowered eyes, and Tang Yang's noisy voice abruptly stopped, and the hand pulling his clothes also loosened.

"Ah Yang and sister Li can drink later. Mom and Dad have been working hard in the fields all afternoon, let them drink first," Tang Xu smiled.

Tang Yang looked at his smile and shook inexplicably.

He nodded obediently and replied, "Oh, got it, big brother."

Liu Xiangxiang held the bowl, and the fragrance of chicken soup wafted into her nose in wisps. But no matter how hard she tried, she couldn't bring herself to drink it. Tang Erhu was still standing beside her, blowing hot air and sipping the soup afterward with a satisfied expression on his face.

Liu Xiangxiang gritted her teeth, feeling anguished, but she reluctantly followed her heart and blew on the hot soup before taking a sip.

Delicious!

Not greasy, not fishy!

Even though she felt extremely depressed, Liu Xiangxiang finished the bowl of chicken soup.

Tang Erhu handed the bowl to Tang Xu, patting him on the shoulder with a smile. "Well done, Xu Ge'er, your cooking skills are really good. This chicken soup is well brewed."

"If dad likes it, I'll brew it for you again in the future. I'll heat up some water, dad can soak his feet and relax, and I'll steam some steamed buns," Tang Xu said shyly yet obediently.

Tang Erhu thought Tang Xu was really good. His temperament had brightened up a lot since he recovered from his illness.

He nodded repeatedly, praised him a few more times, and then went into the house to wash up.

Liu Xiangxiang stared at Tang Xu, wanting to say something, but Tang Xu didn't give her a chance. He reached out, took the bowl from her hand, and then turned directly into the stove room. He still had to cook and didn't have time to listen to her nagging.

He shredded most of the chicken meat into a large bowl, then added blanched wild vegetables and chopped garlic. Afterward, he seasoned it with some sugar, vinegar, and salt to taste, creating a cold shredded chicken dish.

Once the steamed buns were ready in the pot, he stir-fried some ferns and mushrooms. Since there wasn't much bean oil, he decided to use the layer of chicken oil from the chicken soup in the pan. With a bit of salt added, the flavor became very delicious.

He poured the lukewarm chicken soup back into the pot and added the mushrooms to simmer for a while. Dinner consisting of two dishes and a soup was ready.

By this time, the sun had already set, and it was getting dark, probably around six o'clock.

The whole family ate the meal with oily mouths and satisfied stomachs. After finishing the meal, Tang Xu called Tang Li to help him clean and wash the dishes. Tang Yang went out to play again, holding a chicken thigh bone in his hand to nibble on.

Hearing that they would have chicken soup noodles for breakfast tomorrow morning, Tang Erhu praised Tang Xu again.

After cleaning up the dishes and heating water in the pot, Tang Xu realized that there wasn't much firewood left in the woodshed. Tomorrow, he would have to go to the mountains to gather more firewood. If he encountered any dead trees, he could chop them down and bring them back. However, he doubted whether he could do it alone with his limited strength.

"Ah Yang," Tang Xu called out in the yard.

Tang Yang heard the noise and ran over. Because he had been conquered by the delicious dinner, he now regarded his big brother as the most powerful person. Listening to his brother meant having something delicious to eat!

"What's up, big brother?" Tang Yang asked eagerly, looking up at him.

Tang Li was inside the house but came to the window to see what was happening when she heard their voices.

Tang Xu stood sideways in the yard, raised his hand to beckon, and called Tang Li to come out as well.

The three of them stood in front of the vegetable garden in the yard, and Tang Xu said, "Tomorrow morning after breakfast, you two will go up the mountain to pick some branches. I plan to make pancakes for lunch. If either of you gathers more firewood, I'll make a bigger pancake for that person."

Tang Li asked, "What's a pancake? Is it a rolled-up cake?"

Tang Yang replied, "Whether the pancake is big or small doesn't matter to me. I don't like it dry and hard."

"Big brother's pancakes can wrap up anything. They're definitely a delicious dish you've never tasted before. Wasn't the cold shredded chicken and the soup delicious?" Tang Xu said, crossing his arms confidently.

The siblings reminisced about the chicken soup and shredded chicken from dinner, licked their lips, and swallowed saliva.

Delicious, and the soup was tasty.

"Big brother never lies. If you listen to me, I'll make delicious food for you, the kind you can't find anywhere else," Tang Xu began to tempt the inexperienced troublemakers with food. "If anyone can pick some fresh vegetables and mushrooms for me, I can make fragrant sauce too."

Forget about Tang Yang, even Tang Li couldn't resist looking forward to it.

Deal!

Tang Xu patted each of their heads. Good, good, obedient children who work hard are really rare and precious.
