The name ultimately chosen by the World Consciousness was "Xing Yu".
This name was suggested by Qi Chao, and among a list of dismissive, mocking, or outright offensive names like “Idiot,” “Clown,” and “Dullard,” it received the full support of the World Consciousness.
The World Consciousness was well aware that these puppets bore hostility toward it. It gazed coldly at them before stepping behind Moss.
Perhaps it was because Moss had once braided its hair, the World Consciousness now regarded him as one of its own.
“Xing Yu?”
Qi Chao, lounging on the sofa, lazily called out.
At first, the World Consciousness didn’t respond. Only after a moment did it realize the name referred to itself. It hesitated briefly before nodding in acknowledgment with a soft "hmm."
From his appearance alone, the World Consciousness was indeed deserving of such a name.
Whether it was the tear mole at the corner of his eye, the star-like brilliance of his blue irises, or the scar across the bridge of his nose—these features combined into a presence so striking that anyone who saw him found it difficult to look away.
However, whether it was Qi Chao's misperception or a bias against him, Qi Chao always felt that the World Consciousness was a bit slow-witted.
For now, the World Consciousness seemed to get along well with Moss, which was a positive sign.
After calling his name, Qi Chao said nothing further.
The World Consciousness felt increasingly awkward but couldn’t bring itself to ask him to continue, so it stood there silently.
Fortunately, Qi Chao didn’t leave the silence hanging for long. After a brief pause, he continued, “Your room is next to Moss’s. If anything comes up, you can go to him for help.”
After saying this, Qi Chao turned his attention to the other children in the house, reprimanding them sternly, “What was that behavior earlier? Haven’t I taught you that mocking others and giving them nicknames is wrong? Do you understand?”
The puppets who had given the World Consciousness nicknames included Agu, Lan Luo, Chi Yao, and even the usually aloof Ayu. It was clear they all genuinely disliked Xing Yu.
This wasn’t surprising, given that even Qi Chao himself didn’t have much affection for the world consciousness.
Their feelings are always mutual.
The incomplete world consciousness had once harmed Shen Yuxi, so it was natural for Qi Chao and the household puppets to harbor negative feelings toward it.
If not for the fact that the world consciousness had now become a puppet, inherently benefiting from the "puppet filter," and Qi Chao’s intent to mend its flaws and dissuade it from its self-destructive plans, his attitude toward it might have been worse than that of the other puppets in the house.
Thinking along these lines, Qi Chao felt a weight settle in his heart. He turned to glance at Shen Yuxi, who was smiling at him gently and warmly. That look eased his heart a little, and he pushed the thoughts aside.
Looking at the children, Qi Chao continued, “In the next few days, I’ll be going to the trial field to repair the bodies of the remaining deformed puppets. Once that’s done, we’ll head to Linjing District together.”
“Back to Linjing District?”
Li Bai looked excited. Although life with Father was fun, Linjing District had his two uncles and a park. It had been a long time since Li Bai had visited, and the thought filled them with longing.
“Mm,”
The main reason for returning to Linjing District was to monitor the activities of the Investigation Association and the Royal Family.
This plan had been discussed between Qi Chao and Shen Yuxi long ago. If not for Shen Yuxi's sudden illness, they would have returned much earlier.
The Royal Family and the Association had once sought to acquire supernatural abilities by using converters to strip puppets of their lives.
This matter wasn’t directly related to the world consciousness and wasn’t even part of any intentionally guided plotline. It was purely a result of human malice and greed.
As long as human greed remained unchanged, even without the converter, they would inevitably find substitutes to fulfill their dark desires.
This thought made Qi Chao press his lips together tightly.
Perhaps sensing Qi Chao’s unease, Shen Yuxi placed his palm gently on the back of Qi Chao’s hand. When Qi Chao turned to look at him, Shen Yuxi offered a gentle smile.
“Don’t worry,” he said softly. “In the short term, it’s absolutely impossible for them to create a suitable convertor device.”
Shen Yuxi knew exactly what Qi Chao was worrying about.
Although Shen Yuxi didn’t particularly care about the fate of the puppets, he didn’t want Qi Chao to be filled with negative emotions.
“I understand,” Qi Chao said, snapping out of his thoughts. He turned his hand to clasp Shen Yuxi’s and smiled at him.
Then, as if remembering something, he glanced upstairs and asked, “Where’s my brother? I’ve been back for quite a while, and I haven’t seen him. It’s already noon—don’t tell me he’s still lazing in bed?”
“He probably is. Yangyang’s been working nonstop on crafting capture devices these past few days, so it’s understandable that he’s exhausted.”
Perhaps because Qi Yang had helped capture the world consciousness and, in doing so, indirectly saved him, Shen Yuxi rarely spoke up on his behalf, but this time he did.
Qi Chao nodded in understanding, but the world consciousness, overhearing the conversation, glared toward the upstairs with simmering resentment.
So it was that outsider who interfered with his energy gathering and caused him to be captured by Qi Chao?
Unforgivable.
The world consciousness fumed, vowing that someday he would tear that human upstairs into pieces.
Meanwhile, Qi Yang, blissfully unaware that Shen Yuxi’s gratitude had just earned him a nemesis, was curled up in his room, locked in an intense flame war with online trolls.
Among these online netizens were not only Qi Chao’s anti-fans but also Shen Yuxi’s admirers, as well as the fans of Qi Feng and Qi Ye.
In short, Qi Yang didn’t get along with anyone except his brother’s fans.
Like a walking bundle of thorns, he used all kinds of sarcastic and passive-aggressive comments to lash out at everyone who annoyed him. In just one morning, he managed to offend every faction except Qi Chao’s supporters.
Not stopping there, Qi Yang took it a step further, proclaiming himself the leader of the anti-fan clubs for Shen Yuxi, Qi Feng, and Qi Ye.
He actively participated in flame wars, positioning himself at the forefront of the chaos. His antics became so notable that they caught the attention of Qi Feng and Qi Ye themselves.
As university students, Qi Feng and Qi Ye had plenty of free time aside from their weekend internships at the company. With their older brother not at home, they spent much of their time idling on the neural net.
That was how they stumbled across the existence of an anti-fan club dedicated to them—one that even had a very active leader.
Qi Feng and Qi Ye, both with fiery tempers, immediately jumped into the fray with the so-called leader of their anti-fan club. They even went so far as to exchange IDs to engage in a no-holds-barred, real-name argument. The battle raged online, starting late at night and continuing until the early hours of the morning.
Unfortunately for the two straightforward siblings, they were no match for Qi Yang, who was a seasoned veteran of countless flame wars. Each time, they ended up red-faced and fuming, thoroughly outmaneuvered by his sharp retorts.
In the end, the two enraged younger brothers turned to their older brother, Qi Chao, to vent about the “lunatic” they encountered online.
When Qi Chao received their messages, he was already preparing to leave for the trial grounds to treat the deformed puppets.
Shen Yuxi, noticing Qi Chao standing still while staring at his light brain, raised an eyebrow slightly. Without concealing his curiosity, he asked in a soft voice, “What’s wrong?”
Qi Chao, hearing him, slipped his light brain device back into his pocket and replied casually, “Oh, it’s nothing. Qi Feng and Qi Ye got into an argument online and lost. Now they’re whining to me about it.”
“You’re not going to comfort them a little?”
Shen Yuxi said with a smile.
“I comforted them. I told them to send me that person’s ID.”
Though Qi Feng and Qi Ye acted like elementary school kids, running to a parent after losing an argument, Qi Chao, as their older brother, naturally wouldn’t ignore them.
Seeing the amusement in Qi Chao’s expression, Shen Yuxi also found the situation entertaining. “Are you going to add that person’s ID now? Or wait until after you get back from the trial grounds?”
“After I get back,” Qi Chao replied calmly.
There were still about ten deformed puppets left to repair at the trial grounds. Fortunately, their bodies were only partially deformed, so the repairs wouldn’t be too challenging.
Plus, within the protective barrier of the Mother Tree, the puppets were in stable condition, making it feasible to complete the repairs in just one afternoon.
Shen Yuxi gave a noncommittal hum.
“Alright, let’s go,”
Since his health had improved, Shen Yuxi had become even clingier than the children in the house. Wherever Qi Chao went, Shen Yuxi would follow.
Qi Chao hummed in agreement. As they passed Qi Yang’s room, he knocked on the door and called out loudly, “I’m heading out with Brother Shen. Message me if you need anything.”
A clear response came from behind the door, indicating Qi Yang was awake and likely busy tinkering with something inside.
Qi Chao didn’t press further—his younger brother was already twenty-five or twenty-six, well past the age where he needed constant supervision.
After Qi Chao and Shen Yuxi left, the villa didn’t quiet down in their absence. On the contrary, it was like tossing a stone into a calm lake, sending the ducks on its surface into a noisy uproar.
“Clown was still the best name—it’s such a pity,” Agu said with a sly smile.
He draped his limp arm lazily over Xiang Yue’s shoulder, his vivid green eyes glinting as he cast a meaningful look toward the World Consciousness, who had been saddled with the name “Xing Yu.”
Xing Yu, already short-tempered, flashed a mocking smile in response. “If you think it’s so fitting, why don’t you take it instead?”
“Oh no, no,” Agu replied with a cheerful grin. “That name suits you perfectly.”
After all, he hadn’t harmed their father, nor had he foolishly tried to destroy himself.
Xing Yu’s fury boiled over at those words. He leapt down the staircase in a single bound and stormed toward Agu. Unfazed, Agu turned to hug Xiang Yue dramatically, wailing, “Xiang Yue, that bully is trying to hit me!”
Who the heck is trying to hit you?!
Xing Yu felt like he was about to explode from sheer indignation. He had no powers now—if anyone was getting hit, it would obviously be him!
The first three puppets weren’t there to back up the equally annoying Agu—they simply couldn’t stand Xing Yu.
The next four puppets, on the other hand, had no idea what was going on. Upon seeing the confrontation between Xing Yu and Agu, they instinctively sided with Agu.
Not a single puppet supported Xing Yu.
Xing Yu’s chest heaved in anger, and he suddenly felt aggrieved..
They were all bullying him.
His eyes reddened, and when he saw Moss step out of the trial grounds’ vortex, he cried out like a child who had just lost an argument. Clutching Moss’s clothes desperately, he sought solace and support.
Moss had just returned from escorting Father and Dad to the trial grounds and hadn’t yet grasped what was happening. He was taken aback to see Xing Yu crying so suddenly.
Agu, without a hint of empathy, only laughed louder.
The situation erupted into chaos.
Qi Yang, who had been arguing heatedly with Qi Feng and Qi Ye upstairs, was already in a bad mood.
When he heard the noise coming from downstairs, it only made him more irritated. He tugged at his hair, opened the door, and coldly glared at the little brats below, saying, “If you don’t want me to tell your dad, then keep it down.”
Instantly, the living room fell silent.
Qi Yang smirked, just about to return to his room when his light brain vibrated. It was a message from Qi Feng:
【Hehe, aren’t you my brother’s fan? I’ve already told him about you. He will come to message you tonight. You’re officially expelled from the fan club. You’re finished, hahahaha!】
Qi Yang: ……???
Damn!
Are you a child?
How could he snitch on me like that?!
TL: Happy Thanksgiving everyone! (o^▽^o)
