Qi Chao was a man of action.
The very next day, he gathered all the necessary information, and a week later, at the auction, he successfully bid on the Sky Stone.
"Is this a gift for Dad?"
Agu, always the curious one, had noticed ever since his father came back, he was carrying a diamond box and Agu happily followed Qi Chao into the study.
"Yes," Qi Chao didn’t deny it. He chuckled and added, "I also bought gifts for all of you. Since there are too many, the robot will deliver them later."
"Yay!"
Agu cheered. Just like his father, Agu loved receiving gifts. Grinning from ear to ear, he said, "Father is definitely going to be very happy."
Qi Chao, of course, was well aware of this. He smiled and jokingly replied, "Of course. I specifically picked things he likes—how could he not be happy?"
With that, he patted Agu on the head and asked, "Why is it just you coming in here? Where are the others?"
It had already been a week, and most of the non-Association puppet masters had finished their registration. The children had much lighter workloads now and could go home on time every day.
Although online, the independent puppet masters were still constantly complaining and cursing the Association for cutting off their income, Qi Chao knew it wouldn’t last too long.
Based on his calculations, it would take at most another month for these non-Association puppet masters to quiet down.
"They're busy planning lessons for the other puppets," Agu said with a bright smile. "Xiang Yue has been putting a lot of effort into preparing for teaching."
In truth, it wasn’t just Xiang Yue—Moss, Li Bai, and Ayu were all going to teach as well. Even Cheng Qi and Nuo Yan, who didn’t live in the villa, had learned a lot and become instructors for the puppets' education.
However, since Xiang Yue was Agu’s friend, he only mentioned him.
Qi Chao raised an eyebrow at this and then chuckled. He knew his children were all very responsible. Their diligent preparation wasn’t just to earn his praise; much of it was for the sake of helping their fellow puppets.
"Come on, let’s go check it out," Qi Chao said casually.
"Aren’t you going to give the diamond to Father?" Agu asked as he leaned close to Qi Chao, his emerald-green eyes narrowing mischievously like a leopard's.
"You little rascal, what are you thinking about every day?" Qi Chao gave him a light smack on the back of the head. "Even if I wanted to give it, I wouldn’t do it in front of you!"
Unconvinced, Agu pouted, clearly wanting to say more.
But just then, the doorbell rang downstairs—three long rings and one short, the special rhythm used by the robots delivering packages.
Agu’s eyes lit up, evidently reminded of what Dad had said earlier about buying gifts for them at the auction.
"Hurry up, Dad, let's go!" Agu urged. Seeing that he couldn’t get Qi Chao to move, he gave up on waiting and dashed downstairs in a hurry.
On the other side, the puppets, upon hearing that Dad had sent them gifts, were just as excited as Agu. They eagerly put down their lesson plans and teaching materials and ran off joyfully to open their presents.
When Qi Chao came downstairs, he was greeted by this lively scene. He chuckled but didn’t join in the fun. Instead, he walked over to a table nearby, casually picked up one of the lesson plans, and began to read through it.
These were the materials his children had prepared to teach the puppets.
Previously, all lesson plans were prepared by Shen Yuxi for the children. This marked the first time the kids had created their own lesson plans, and Qi Chao was quite curious about what the puppets would teach their peers.
Seated in a chair, he first reviewed Xiang Yue’s lesson plan. The content reflected Xiang Yue’s calm and composed personality.
It began with instructions on how to identify harmful behaviors from humans, followed by a step-by-step guide on how puppets could protect themselves in such situations.
It was evident that Xiang Yue had put a lot of thought into it.
However, when Qi Chao moved on to Lan Luo’s lesson plan, he could hardly suppress a laugh.
What on earth was this “Puppet Guide to Acting Cute”?
Not only did it list step-by-step instructions on how to appear obedient in front of humans, but it also taught the puppets how to achieve their own goals while making humans believe that they were well-behaved.
Where did this kid learn the art of being thick-skinned?
Just as Qi Chao was smiling to himself, Shen Yuxi returned home from the greenhouse, holding a bouquet of freshly cut flowers.
He walked over to Qi Chao, placed the flowers into a vase, and then glanced at the lesson plan in Qi Chao’s hands.
Qi Chao tilted the lesson plan slightly, making it easier for Shen Yuxi to see Lan Luo’s “masterpiece.”
Shen Yuxi gave it a quick glance before looking over at Lan Luo, who was sitting cross-legged on the floor and busy unwrapping his gift.
Lan Luo suddenly shivered, sensing something, but before he could turn around, Li Bai grabbed his arm and whispered something to him. Distracted, Lan Luo went back to unwrapping his present.
What an idiot, Shen Yuxi commented bluntly.
Then, glancing down at Qi Chao, he chuckled softly and tried to defend Lan Luo. “Who knows where Lan Luo saw that. I’ll have him rewrite it later.”
“No need to rewrite it,” Qi Chao replied with a grin. “The children are all pretty naive—it’s good for them to learn to be a little cunning.”
Shen Yuxi studied Qi Chao’s expression carefully and, realizing he meant it, couldn’t help but let out a small laugh.
The two of them sat together, flipping through the other childrens lesson plans. Just like Lan Luo’s, each one reflected its creator’s unique style.
Moss, Ayu, and Chi Yao’s plans in particular stood out. Chi Yao’s was the most straightforward of all, directly listing the vulnerabilities of the human body and teaching puppets how to physically defend themselves.
That was something else.
While Qi Chao didn’t seem fazed, but Shen Yuxi’s face darkened visibly.
He wasn’t really bothered by what the puppets chose to write. His only concern was that Qi Chao had seen it—and that the differences between the plans were so glaringly obvious.
Shen Yuxi couldn’t help but think back to Qiu Qiu and Li Bai’s lesson plans, which he’d reviewed earlier.
One taught puppets how to interact harmoniously with humans, while the other explained human laws. Compared to these, it almost seemed like Shen Yuxi’s personality had deeply influenced some of his puppets.
Although that was indeed part of the reason, Shen Yuxi also understood that Qi Chao was fully aware of his personality.
However, that didn’t mean Shen Yuxi was willing to let the more negative aspects of himself be laid bare so clearly in front of Qi Chao.
Standing up, he looked down at Qi Chao. When Qi Chao glanced up at him, Shen Yuxi curved his lips into a soft smile and said, “Their lesson plans aren’t finished yet. I’ll have them complete them before opening the gifts.”
Qi Chao rarely hid anything from Shen Yuxi.
That was why Shen Yuxi already knew Qi Chao had bought more than just the Sky Stone at the auction—he’d also gotten gifts for the puppets.
Hearing Shen Yuxi’s words, Qi Chao shifted his gaze from the lesson plans. He wanted to suggest that Shen Yuxi take a break and let the kids relax for a bit longer.
But when he saw the smile in Shen Yuxi’s eyes, the words caught in his throat.
It’s fine, Qi Chao thought to himself. Judging by the progress, the children’s lesson plans were almost done anyway. They could play after finishing up.
With a silent sigh, Qi Chao stood up, unable to bear it any longer. He left the living room, retrieved the Sky Stone from his study, and gave it to Shen Yuxi ahead of schedule.
As a father, this was all he could do.
The rest? Well, you’re on your own now, kids.
How exactly Shen Yuxi’s anger was eventually quelled remained a mystery.
However, by the next day, when the puppets began teaching from their self-prepared lesson plans, there was an unmistakable air of unease among them.
Still, the ones who were more shaken than Lan Luo, Chi Yao, and the others were the non-Association puppet masters.
Why had their previously stiff, machine-like puppets come back suddenly prone to acting spoiled?
Though their expressions remained as rigid as ever, the sudden change was blatantly out of place.
Some puppet masters, unable to withstand the puppets’ coquettish behavior, even ended up granting their puppets’ minor requests.
What the hell? What on earth was the Association teaching them every day?
TL: Haha I couldn’t help laughing at Lan Lou’s lesson plan.
