Brother, you smell good - 5

Shen Yu, who was suddenly called out: "..."

It is indeed normal for straight men to show off their physiques to each other.

In Shen Yu's mind, two little villains started wrestling with each other, taking less than a second to decide.

One little villain said: It’s better not touch it or else our cover could be blown.

The other little villain said: Go ahead, just touch it! It's not the first time anyway.

What's there to be shy about? Why pass up such a good opportunity to cop a feel? Everyone else is touching; it’s not that easy to have our cover be blown.

The second little villain easily defeated the first.

Feigning calmness, Shen Yu replied, "Sure."

Having just choked on water, his cheeks were slightly flushed, and his eyes still glistened. He wasn’t so shy as to be embarrassed—after all, he had touched it many times before—but there was still a hint of nervousness.

Cheng Mofei smiled and walked up to him, like a dog eagerly waiting for its owner to pet it.

Shen Yu raised his hand and lightly touched the abdominal muscles that were right in front of him.

Perhaps because the touch was too light, Cheng Mofei flinched and said with a smile, "That tickles."

The next second, Cheng Mofei raised his hand and grasped Shen Yu’s hand, which hadn’t yet been retracted, pressing it firmly against his well-defined abs.

Shen Yu: "..."

After the touch, Cheng Mofei asked, "So, how is it?"

Shen Yu pursed his lips and tried to offer the response he knew Cheng Mofei wanted. "Brother Fei, your physique is amazing."

Hearing the compliment, Cheng Mofei was in a very good mood. He squeezed Shen Yu's slender, almost meatless hand and said, "Look how skinny you are. From now on, Brother Fei will take you to work out."

Shen Yu smiled. "Okay."

Nineteen-year-old Cheng Mofei… is just too adorable.

After touching his abs, Shen Yu picked up his military training uniform and went to the bathroom. He tossed it into the washing machine, took a quick shower, and used Cheng Mofei’s favorite orange-scented body wash.

When Shen Yu emerged from the bathroom, Cheng Mofei had already put on his shirt and was sitting in front of his laptop, working on an Excel spreadsheet. With the new semester just beginning, he had quite a bit of administrative work to handle.

The familiar scent caught Cheng Mofei’s attention, and he glanced sideways at Shen Yu, who had just finished showering, before resuming his typing on the keyboard.

A sudden thought crossed his mind: No wonder perfumes and aromatherapy are so popular. It really is comforting to do anything while surrounded by a scent you like.

Shen Yu unplugged his fully charged phone and checked the class group chat. There were no new announcements, but he did notice a new message on WeChat.

It was from his childhood best friend from high school.

[Fang Xiang]: How’s the new dorm? I just finished training.

[Fang Xiang]: I’m seriously exhausted. When will this military training ever end...

They had been friends since childhood and were both first-year college students now. Fang Xiang’s semester had started two days earlier than Shen Yu’s, and his military training had already begun.

Shen Yu smiled and replied with a motivational sticker:

[Shen Yu]: The new dorm is great. My seniors are taking good care of me.

[Fang Xiang]: That’s good to hear.

[Fang Xiang]: I need to shower now—if I wait too long, there won’t be any spots left.

[Shen Yu]: Go quickly, then.

After closing the chat, Shen Yu’s peripheral vision caught a glimpse of Cheng Mofei still focused on his keyboard.

Then, Shen Yu opened a dating app on his phone.

This was a dating app Shen Yu had once used with Cheng Mofei during their relationship. It allowed users to record dates, write diaries, and manage expenses.

However, after moving in together, they had found it cumbersome and stopped using it.

Shen Yu had chosen to download it again because, even after so many years, the app was available and hadn’t been discontinued. Its features were still quite good.

He opened the calendar within the app and carefully began to document the day.

Today was September 6.

He titled the day: “Reunion.”

[Entry]

Today was the registration day at Yanda, and I met the nineteen-year-old you—a particularly, particularly adorable version of you.

At nineteen, you thought of yourself as a homophobic straight guy, and everyone around you thought so too. When did that change? You never mentioned it to me in the past, but I don’t blame you. It’s my fault for making you feel you couldn’t bring it up.

I wonder what Xiao Xiong and Sun Xinghe’s reactions were when they found out in the past life that you were with another man...

But it doesn’t matter. In this life, I’ll probably find out.

Tonight, after your shower, you came out shirtless and even let me touch your abs. You're really good at seducing me. But to be honest—they felt amazing, full of boundless energy.

Right now, you’re sitting next to me, typing on your keyboard. There will be many more days like this in the future.

We won’t be separated again.

---

The dormitory at Yanda University didn’t have a lights-out policy at night, and the residents of Room 520 weren’t known for sticking to a strict schedule.

However, by 11:30 PM, everyone had climbed into their beds. Some were chatting on their phones, others were scrolling through short videos or memes, and a few were gaming with headphones on.

No one was asleep, but the room had settled into a quiet, relaxed atmosphere.

They were mindful of Shen Yu, the new junior who had just joined them. After a long day of registration and moving in, he needed to rest.

Shen Yu, indeed, was quite tired and fell asleep quickly.

When he had first been reborn, he suffered from insomnia, unable to get a good night’s rest no matter what. It wasn’t until he arrived in Yancheng city and began gathering information about Cheng Mofei and his mother that the restlessness eased somewhat.

He understood that restoring his health required a proper routine, and over the past month, his sleep quality had gradually improved.

But tonight, his sleep was particularly comfortable.

Was it because Cheng Mofei was nearby?

In the middle of the night, at around 2 a.m., Cheng Mofei woke up groggily to the sound of movement on his bed.

The dormitory curtains were never fully drawn at night, leaving a small gap to make late-night trips to the bathroom easier. The soft moonlight filtered through, faintly outlining the shapes of everything in the room.

Through the dim light, Cheng Mofei watched as a shadow climbed onto his bed and, through the blanket, wrapped its arms around him.

The steady rhythm of quiet breathing came from right beside his ear.

Accompanying it was the faint scent of orange-scented body wash.

Cheng Mofei’s drowsiness disappeared instantly.

Having someone climb into his bed in the middle of the night was undeniably strange—he’d never encountered anything like this before.

But the person holding onto him, Shen Yu, was deeply asleep. There were no further movements, no signs of waking up, no ulterior motives. He had merely changed locations and continued to sleep soundly.

The words sleepwalking immediately popped into Cheng Mofei’s mind.

Shen Yu’s behavior was almost certainly due to sleepwalking.

It was Cheng Mofei’s first time encountering someone who sleepwalked, and he wasn’t sure what to do.

"Shen Yu, Shen Yu," he called softly a few times.

Shen Yu didn’t respond, and continued to sleep.

From the next bed, Xiao Xiong’s thunderous snores reverberated through the room.

Listening to Shen Yu’s soft, steady breathing beside him, Cheng Mofei inexplicably felt a sense of relief. If it were Xiao Xiong sleepwalking, I wouldn’t be able to deal with it, he thought.

He squinted, reached for his phone on the pillow, and glanced at the time.

2:35 a.m.

Perfect timing for a sleepwalking episode, he mused.

The pleasant orange fragrance lingered at the tip of his nose as Cheng Mofei turned off his phone. He hesitated for a full minute but ultimately decided against waking Shen Yu.

He had heard that waking a sleepwalker was highly discouraged. Besides, it was the middle of the night—waking Shen Yu might lead to insomnia, and with the flurry of tasks that came with the start of a new semester, a good night’s sleep was essential.

This junior’s life is quite pitiful, Cheng Mofei thought. The sleepwalking might even be related to everything he’s been through.

We’ll talk about it tomorrow when he wakes up, Cheng Mofei thought.

After all, living together made them brothers. Sharing a tight space wasn’t a big deal for good brothers.

The dorm’s air conditioning was set a bit low, so Cheng Mofei pulled the blanket up and draped it over Shen Yu. The bed wasn’t particularly large, and the two ended up pressed close together.

Cheng Mofei had expected that falling back asleep after waking up in the middle of the night might be difficult, but the orange scent lingering in the air lulled him back to sleep in no time.

Shen Yu had the best sleep he’d had since his rebirth—possibly the best in years.

When he groggily opened his eyes, the first thing he noticed was how cramped his movements felt. Instinctively, he shifted to turn over, only to find himself face-to-face with a pair of familiar light brown eyes.

Shen Yu froze, staring blankly at Cheng Mofei for a few seconds before decisively shutting his eyes again.

Am I still dreaming...?

This dream seemed oddly up-to-date. In the past, his dreams always featured Cheng Mofei in his thirties, but today it had suddenly shifted to the nineteen-year-old version of Cheng Mofei.

"Awake?" Cheng Mofei's voice carried a slight rasp, the kind that only appeared right after waking up.

Shen Yu: "..."

It seemed like—maybe—possibly, probably... this wasn’t a dream.

If it wasn’t a dream, then it meant he was currently sleeping in the same bed as Cheng Mofei.

And this wasn’t his bed—his mattress wasn’t this comfortable. This was Cheng Mofei’s bed.

How the hell did I end up in Cheng Mofei’s bed?!

Shen Yu’s mind went completely blank.

About half a minute later, he opened his eyes, utterly resigned, and decided to face reality head-on.

Compared to earlier, the light brown eyes that greeted him now carried a hint of amusement.

Shen Yu's anxiety eased a little.

Since he can still be amused… that means he didn’t accidentally reveal anything.

Shen Yu hesitated before whispering, “What happened? Why am I in your bed, Brother Fei?”

Cheng Mofei’s expression grew slightly more serious as he countered, “You had a sleepwalking episode—didn’t you know?”

Shen Yu, utterly bewildered, shook his head.

Sleepwalking? He had never seen anyone sleepwalk before.

But despite his confusion, a guilty feeling crept up inside him.

A faint suspicion took root in his heart: Could it be that the sleepwalking was caused by how much he wanted to be close to Cheng Mofei?

His subconscious mind must have guided him to his bed while he was asleep.

He… surely hadn’t done anything too inappropriate, right?

Thankfully, Cheng Mofei quickly recounted the events of the previous night in full detail, sparing nothing.

As Shen Yu listened, a wave of relief washed over him.

He was just sleeping.

“I’m sorry, I didn’t know I sleepwalked,” Shen Yu said softly, his tone sincere as he apologized.

“It’s fine,” Cheng Mofei replied. “Do you want to see a doctor? Sleepwalking can be pretty dangerous.”

Shen Yu hesitated, a little wary of hospitals, but he knew that if there was a problem, it was best to deal with it promptly. He didn’t want to repeat the mistakes of his past life.

“Okay. Are there any hospitals nearby?”

Cheng Mofei thought for a moment before answering, “There’s one. I don’t have class this afternoon, so whenever it’s convenient for you, I can go with you.”

“Thanks, Brother Fei... I’m sorry for troubling you. Let me treat you to a meal,” Shen Yu lowered his gaze, his long lashes casting a shadow over his eyes, giving him a gentle, obedient look.

Cheng Mofei was about to refuse when a loud voice suddenly interrupted them.

“Damn, how did you two end up sleeping together?”

Shen Yu jumped in surprise.

Cheng Mofei felt the sudden tremor in Shen Yu’s body and turned to see Xiao Xiong’s surprised expression from across the room.

With a calm tone, he responded, “What's wrong with good brothers sleeping together? Why are you making a fuss?"

Xiao Xiong blinked, confused. “Huh?”

Although... but...

Cheng Mofei only made a light joke, but quickly followed up with an explanation: “Xiao Shen sleepwalked last night.”

Sleepwalking might seem trivial, but it could also be quite serious. Since they all lived in the same dorm, it was important to inform the others—so that if Shen Yu sleepwalked again and ended up in someone else’s bed tonight, they wouldn’t be startled.

Xiao Xiong, now understanding, nodded. “Oh, I see.”

On the other side, Sun Xinghe had also woken up and asked with concern, “How did he end up sleepwalking?”

Cheng Mofei sat up on his bed and briefly described what happened the previous night. “He doesn’t remember much. It’s the first time he’s discovered he has this condition. I’m taking him to the doctor this afternoon for an examination.”

“Hmm, maybe it’s because of the stress of the new semester?” Sun Xinghe suggested.

“Let’s see what the doctor says.”

Throughout the entire conversation, Shen Yu felt guilty and flustered, like a quail hiding in the corner. He didn’t say a word.

Cheng Mofei automatically interpreted Shen Yu's silence as guilt, assuming that Shen Yu felt bad for causing trouble.

From Shen Yu’s actions—taking out the trash, handling deliveries, and offering to treat him to a meal—Cheng Mofei could tell that Shen Yu was a considerate person who hated inconveniencing others.

But Cheng Mofei didn’t think Shen Yu had caused him any trouble. In fact, he slept quite well last night. Shen Yu had felt like a calming presence, like a human incense.

With that thought, Cheng Mofei reached up and ruffled Shen Yu's already messy hair, treating him with the kind of comfort one would offer to a younger sibling. “It’s fine, it’s nothing serious. You’re welcome to sleep on either of these two beds in the future. Just be careful not to fall off, alright?”

Shen Yu: “...”

Are all ‘straight men’ so ‘generous’?
