After Being Stranded in the Wilderness, I Became the Bride of the Giant Tribe - 147

| GB | I Want You to be My Mate | 147 | Ex. 23

When the tree beasts entangled by vines were dealt with, their remaining companions howled at the sky and angrily leaped down.

Jialai's brow twitched as he pulled out the bone knife he carried with him. Using the vines that continuously sprouted from the ground as a barrier, he began to fight the descending beasts alongside his companions.

Several winged orcs nudged each other with their noses: "Ji, it's not good to just stand by and watch now."

After all, they were all adult male orcs; it was unreasonable to let a sub-female orc fight in front of them.

Ji nodded, his gaze lingering on the tall and slender figure for a moment. A confident and determined smile spread across his face as his wings unfurled with a whoosh, and he swiftly flew out.

The winged orcs were all adults, seasoned warriors with ample combat experience. Even though the Emerald Sea was filled with tree-covered hills and the terrain was limited, it did not hinder their movements or performance.

They agilely maneuvered around the vines with their flapping wings, wielding their throwing bows to target the weak spots of the tree beasts.

The wings of adult winged orcs were massive. Just a few pairs fully extended gave the orcs present a feeling of the sky being blotted out.

With the addition of the winged orcs, the six tree beasts gradually gave up their struggle and closed their eyes amidst their wails.

After all the tree beasts had fallen to the ground and the dust settled, the two groups of orcs were able to observe each other up close, sizing one another up.

This time, Fantasy tribe had brought over forty young orcs, while the winged orcs numbered only five. Yet, these five were no less formidable in combat than their large group. Most importantly, these five orcs all had sturdy, large wings, similar to Uncle Jiu Fe!

Could they also be from the Eagle tribe?

A male orc named A’Tiao, who was beside Jialai, took two steps forward.

"Which tribe are you from? We've never seen you before."

Ji was somewhat displeased that the sub-female orc was being blocked. He casually sidestepped and glanced at the person nonchalantly.

As if by accident, their eyes met, and Ji's gaze trembled slightly. Jialai averted his eyes.

The winged orc to Ji's left, Qian, chuckled: "We are from the Winged Tribe, hailing from the Gaojia Tribe. The one in front is Ji, our leader. And you, what's the name of that sub-female orc? What power did he use just now? How could he control the vines?"

A’Tiao exchanged glances with his companions, shielding Jialai from the gazes of these fellows.

A’Tiao's eyes were unfriendly: "We are from the Fantasy tribe. Where is the Gaojia Tribe?"

Both sides were probing for information, while Jialai remained focused, assisting his other companions in handling the tree beast carcasses.

Every part of these beasts was valuable, and some of their internal organs were excellent medicinal ingredients.

The young orcs from the Fantasy tribe did not intend to take advantage. Considering the help from the winged orcs during this collaboration, they decided to divide the spoils between both sides.

Meng Mu, who was close with A’Tiao, approached and gestured to Ji: "We can share those tree beasts."

Ji smiled: "Sure."

His gaze still lingered in the direction of the sub-female orc.

A’Tiao and Meng Mu were somewhat annoyed: "Stop looking."

A’Tiao was even more blunt: "Are you trying to pursue Jialai?"

Ji: "Jialai, is that his name?"

He murmured: "It sounds nice."

A’Tiao said: "You can forget about it. It’s not like we don’t want to pursue Jialai, who wouldn’t want him to be his mate once he comes to age?”

Qian, who was beside them, asked: "Has he agreed to anyone?"

The young orcs of Fantasy tribe were struck with a critical hit: "..."

Ji narrowed his eyes, raised his long and sturdy leg, and his partially folded silver-gray wings trembled slightly as he walked towards Jialai.

Qian looked up at the sky.

Ah, I've never seen Ji like this before. It's over. Ji actually likes this kind? The one who ignores him!

That Jialai, a sub-female orc, was initially thought to be someone who needed protection. Who would have thought he could control a unique power?

Is that... the legendary power of the mountain god?

Jialai was dissecting a tree beast, holding a bone "scalpel," neatly and meticulously separating the beast's internal parts.

Ji stood with his arms crossed, watching intently, his gaze shifting from the skillful hands to the face of the sub-female orc.

Jialai paid no attention. As long as the other party didn't bother him, it was none of his business how others looked at him.

Moreover... since childhood, he had been watched by too many eyes...

Ji suddenly asked, "Why don't you want hides and other things like the other orcs?"

After a long pause, Jialai finally spoke, his voice cool and clear.

"My home has plenty of good hides. I only want these medicinal herbs."

"Medicinal herbs?" Ji approached, squatting down halfway, his partially spread wings brushing against Jialai’s back.

Jialai seemed not to notice, Ji happily shook his feathers: "Can these herbs cure many diseases?"

Jialai replied, "The right medicine can cure illness. Not all illnesses can be cured in this world."

Ji's tone became more serious: "Are you a witch doctor?"

Jialai slightly turned his face, directly examining the winged orc before him.

He said, "I studied medicine with my father. My father is a priest."

As he spoke these words, a hint of pride flashed across Jialai’s face.

In recent years, with the tribe's stability, his father had focused on studying medicine, and the weekly lectures were packed with orcs eager to learn.

A few months ago, an elderly orc in the tribe had developed a "tumor" inside his body. As the tumor grew larger, it seemed he was about to return to the embrace of the orc god. But it was his father, along with Aunt Mian and others, who performed surgery and successfully removed the tumor from the elderly orc's body.

Not long after, the elderly orc gradually recovered. This method of treatment wasn't the first time it had been used, but with limited conditions, each time was fraught with danger, a significant challenge for his father and the others. Fortunately, they succeeded every time.

In this world, no one was more worthy of praise and respect than his father.

Ji's eyes gleamed faintly as he lowered his head, earnestly looking at the sub-female orc's fair and gentle face: "Could you let me have some of the medicinal herbs?"

He added, "The reason I came to the Emerald Sea was to gather medicine. I heard there are very precious herbs here. I want to take them back to heal my mother."

He was expecting some persuasion or bargaining, Ji was surprised when Jialai agreed without much hesitation.

Ji: "You..."

Jialai’s voice remained cool, but his attitude wasn't cold.

"If it's urgent, I won't keep them all for myself."

He added, "The tree beast was an unexpected gain."

Ji understood the underlying meaning, his Adam's apple bobbing as he called out the name of this unique sub-female orc for the first time.

"Jialai... are you going to other places to gather herbs?"

Jialai nodded gently.

Ji: "Can I come with you?"

"Emerald Sea's dense tree ridges make many areas difficult to traverse. I can fly you over," he added.

A’Tiao, who had just approached, was about to refuse when he saw Jialai nod.

"Alright."

A’Tiao: "Jialai, you..."

Jialai lowered his head, continuing to process the tree beast's innards.

"If they had ill intentions, they could have simply left us behind. Why bother helping us drive away the snake swarm and teaming up to fight the tree beast?"

A’Tiao scratched his head; that wasn't what he meant to say.

The camaraderie among orcs is straightforward and simple. Even though they had just met, after a cooperative battle in the second-level hunting zone, their initial impressions of each other were quite favorable.

What he wanted to say was... this winged orc towards Jialai... ugh!

They hadn't even managed to pursue Jialai yet; they couldn't let an outsider have the chance!

Jia Lai ignored his companion's glaring contest with the winged orc. After processing several tree beasts' innards, he divided the medicinal parts among his companions, gave some to Ji, and kept the rest for himself.

Ji took the tree beast innards and stored them in a leather pouch.

"Where to next?"

These orcs from the Fantasy tribe hailed from the southern continent and were more familiar with this area than they were.

Jialai pulled out a scroll of parchment from his chest, his damp fingertips pointing to two spots.

"Right now, we're here, and we need to get here. My father named this mountain 'Lian Tian Mountain.'"

The winged orcs around Ji moved closer, five tall, broad-winged orc encircling Jialai.

"What's this?"

Jialai: "A map. My father has been compiling information from the warrior teams over the years to create these maps."

Qian pondered: "Your father, the priest, is truly remarkable to think of so many things."

Why didn't their winged tribe have such a priest?

A’Tiao seemed to read their thoughts and chuckled, "No tribe has a priest like Bai!"

Qian narrowed his eyes, and A’Tiao added, "Don't think about stealing it. Once you've seen our Fantasy tribe and met our chief, you'll find such thoughts utterly laughable."

Ji shook his head and said to Qian, "Jialai possesses a strange power. His father might..."

Qian: "If I'm not mistaken, this should be the power of the Mountain God. It's said that only the Giant tribe can inherit the Mountain God's power. Those who gain this power can manipulate mountains, rocks, and trees."

"The Giant tribe?"

The three winged orcs beside them scrutinized Jialai. This sub-female didn't look like a member of the Giant tribe.

Jialai didn't explain, he was eager to hurry back to the tribe to reassure his father.

He remained silent, and A’Tiao and his companions naturally didn't say anything.

After choosing the landing direction, Ji fully extended his silver-gray wings, crouched slightly, and gave the sub-female a proud smile. "Hop on."

Qian and the other winged orcs saw what he was doing but didn't comment. It was rare to see Ji being so accommodating, and they found it quite amusing.

Jialai didn't refuse, grabbing onto Ji's arm and leaping up.

The feathers on the wings were thick and soft, carrying the scent of sunlight.

Numerous down feathers immediately enveloped most of his body, and he could faintly feel the strong, muscular shoulders beneath.

Ji didn't bring anyone else. Once Jialai was seated on his back, he flapped his massive wings, stirring up a strong gust of air.

The winged orc soared into the sky with the sub-female orc.

After staying at the Emerald Sea for five days, on the sixth day, Jialai and his companions completed their trial and prepared to return to the tribe with their spoils.

The group of orcs had all sustained some injuries, but fortunately, Jialai, who was skilled in healing, was with them. Moreover, they had learned how to treat common wounds from the tribe's doctors and had ready-made medicinal herbs, so the injuries weren't severe.

Jialai calmly wrapped a piece of linen around his arm.

While collecting herbs on the mountain peak, they had clashed with beasts guarding the medicinal plants. Not only Jialai, but even Ji and a few other winged orcs had suffered some superficial wounds.

Thankfully, they cooperated well, quickly gathered the herbs, and fled without getting entangled with the swarming beasts.

The sunlight illuminated the serene profile of the sun-female orc, causing Ji's heart to skip a beat. He didn't catch the medicinal herb thrown by Qian but instead walked over to Jialai.

He extended his strong, muscular forearm: "It hurts a bit."

Jialai glanced at him and tossed him a small wooden jar.

"There's medicinal powder inside."

Ji held the small jar: "I'll take you back to the tribe."

Jialai looked up.

Ji: "I want to visit your tribe. If my mother doesn't get better after using these herbs... I'll bring her to your tribe and ask the priest for help."

Although Ji also wanted to spend more time with Jialai, his mother's condition wouldn't allow it for long. He needed to return to his territory as soon as possible.

Looking at the dark clouds gathering in the sky, the summer rains were prolonged. If he had the help of a winged orc, he could save time on the return journey, and his father would be pleased.

So Jialai nodded and added, "I can introduce you to my father."

Ji smiled, his usually arrogant and handsome face softening with a rare gentleness.

He took a few beautiful long feathers from his body and handed them to Jialai.

Qian and a few other companions nudged each other with their elbows, look!

He's giving his wing feathers as a gesture of goodwill!

A’Tiao instinctively felt that Jialai shouldn't accept them and cleared his throat: "Jialai, let's hurry back!"

The other male orcs also urged: "Yeah, yeah!"

What's so great about those feathers? They have plenty of their own fur!

Jialai thought the feathers were of good quality and looked nice; they would make excellent fletchings for arrows.

He accepted the feathers without hesitation, considering that Ji had flown him around for days to gather herbs and fought alongside him. These feathers could be seen as payment for introducing Ji to his father.

After all, many orc tribes wanted to seek healing in the Fantasy tribe, but his father, Aunt Mian, and the tribe's doctors didn't treat just anyone. Moreover, as the tribe's priest, it wasn't easy to get an audience with his father.

Ji watched as Jialai accepted his wing feathers, feeling so elated he could fly up and circle the sky a few times.

On the way back, Ji became curious about Jialai's weapons. Jialai didn't hold back and showed him the bone knife, bone dagger, and bow and arrow he carried.

Qian and a few other winged orcs gathered around, once again surrounding Jialai tightly.

"This knife is different from the ones we use, and the bow and arrow too. It shoots farther than ours and has something to aim with."

The winged orcs took turns trying out Jialai's bow and arrow, somewhat reluctant to return them.

"Jialai, can your tribe trade us bows like these?"

Jialai didn't even look up, sprinkling a handful of seasoning powder from a jar onto the roasting meat.

"If you want to trade for bows, you'll have to discuss it with Uncle Xiu. He's one of the tribe's leaders and handles important trade matters."

Weapons symbolized the strength of a tribe and were crucial resources. They couldn't be traded as casually as other more common goods; one had to negotiate with Leader Xiu.

Ji responded, "Alright."

Not just for his mother, but for Jialai and these practical weapons, he would visit the Fantasy tribe.

Jialai returned to the tribe three days earlier than expected.

The winged orcs hovered outside the territory, facing a line of bows aimed directly at them, and let out a sinister laugh.

Jialai, perched on Ji's back, twitched his ears. Why did that laugh sound so much like Uncle Man's?

Before the two sides clashed, he tugged on Ji's shoulder, "Don't act recklessly. Uncle Jiu Fe’s team of warriors will set up an arrow formation, and it won't be easy to handle."

Then, he straightened up from Ji's back and shouted downward, "It's me, Jialai. I'm back—"

The news of Jialai's return quickly reached the chief and the priest, especially since he was brought back by a winged, flying male orc!

At that moment, the winged orcs stopped outside the tribe, surveying the scene before them in silence.

They had never seen a tribe like this.

It had high, sturdy stone walls, with even taller platforms built nearby, where orcs stood on guard.

Beyond that, a wide river lay before them, and the only way in and out of the territory was through the path along the riverbank, which was also patrolled by orcs.

With just one glance, the winged orcs, who were no strangers to strength, immediately realized this tribe was not to be underestimated. Its defenses alone were more formidable than their own tribe's.

Jialai led the winged orcs and some of the tribe members who had returned earlier through the gate.

As soon as they reached the square, they ran into his father, who had come out to greet him.

Jialai, losing control of his calmness, ran forward, "Father!"

He was now taller than his father, grown up enough to hold him in his arms.

Ji observed the strangely dressed, petite, and slender sub-female orc with a gentle and beautiful face, who didn't look very old.

Was this sub-female orc really Jialai's father? And the priest of this tribe?

Not just Ji, but his companions also looked on in astonishment.

Ji only stayed in the Fantasy tribe for half a day, using his connection with Jialai to speak with Priest Bai about his mother's condition.

Yu Bai could only make a rough assessment based on the symptoms. To get a clearer picture, it would be best to see the patient in person and conduct a thorough examination.

Ji had helped Jialai in the Emerald Sea and brought him back to the tribe. Yu Bai, seeing his sincerity and a bit of Uncle Man's style in him, had a decent first impression.

Ji didn't let the priest's youthful and beautiful appearance affect his attitude.

"Thank you, Priest Bai. I'll bring my mother here in a few days."

A’Tiao and the other orcs who had returned earlier watched with envy!

Priest Bai, that Ji fellow has ulterior motives!

Of course, Yu Bai wasn't blind and wasn't insensitive to emotions. He could see that the winged orc had intentions of pursuing Jialai.

But everything depended on Jialai's feelings.

As Jialai gradually grew up, there were quite a few orcs in the tribe who pursued him, but Jialai never showed any particular interest.

At sixteen, in this world, one is already considered quite mature. Yu Bai didn't interfere too much. When he was three years older than Jialai, he had already started to get familiar with Huo Duo'er, and they had developed mutual affection.

The only advice he gave was to avoid any intimate relationships before the age of eighteen, fearing that it might affect Jialai's development.

Moreover, the tribe now had a rule that one could not form an orc bond before turning eighteen.

Before eighteen, it was acceptable to date and fall in love, but intimate relationships were to be avoided.

When Ji and his group of winged orcs were leaving, Jialai saw them off.

Ji, with his wings half-spread, suddenly turned back and gave the sub-female orc a deep look.

He took a few steps back, forcefully pulling the person into his arms, his massive wings domineeringly enveloping them.

"Jialai, I'll come to see you in a few days."

Jialai nodded.

Ji observed the sub-female orc's calm expression, then suddenly leaned down and kissed those startled silver-gray eyes.

"I want you to be my orc mate!"

Jialai slightly narrowed his eyes, pushing the winged orc who was holding him away, his expression showing a hint of challenge.

"Then I'll be waiting."

Ji laughed: "Good."
