The Evil Cub Surrounded by Reborn Ones- Chapter 63

 TECSBRO-(63)

Lu Xu stood still in shock. In the video call, Rong Que could see the moonlight illuminating Lu Xu's eyes, tears shimmering, wetting his eyelashes.

Being alone for too long, Lu Xu sobbed and rushed downstairs to open the door.

His nose was red, and he couldn't control his tears.

Rong Que hugged him, "Silly boy, why are you crying again?"

Lu Xu cried even more hysterically.

The struggles of adapting to a foreign country, the loneliness, exhaustion—all poured out in this moment.

Feeling the chill outside, Rong Que was worried that Lu Xu might catch a cold. He wrapped him in his coat and comforted him back inside.

After Lu Xu had vented enough, Rong Que touched his head and said, "In this suitcase, there are gifts from your friends in China. None of us forgot your birthday."

Lu Xu's eyes welled up again.

He took out his phone and found that after he and Rong Que met just now, everyone had sent him birthday wishes.

Thinking that he had been forgotten because he hadn't received any messages for a day, Lu Xu couldn't help but cry.

"You guys are so annoying." Lu Xu wiped his eyes, thinking that he had been neglected.

"I'm sorry; I wanted to surprise you secretly and had them help keep it a secret," Rong Que said, feeling a bit guilty.

He could have arrived earlier, sparing Lu Xu from such sadness. However, the flight was delayed, almost preventing him from making it today.

Rong Que had taken leave and stayed for three days, preparing some of Lu Xu's favorite dishes.

He even made a little extra to store in the refrigerator.

Reluctantly, Lu Xu hugged Rong Que's waist. "Since when did you learn to cook?"

“University, I thought of coming to accompany you and cooking some familiar flavors for you, learning from Auntie and others," Rong Que said while cooking, still wearing the pendant Lu Xu gave him.

Lu Xu chuckled, "You did a good job."

"That's because Auntie knew I was going to cook for you, so she taught me very seriously."

Unfortunately, three days were too short. Rong Que spent those days accompanying Lu Xu, allowing them to cuddle at home every day.

When the time came, Rong Que had to leave.

Lu Xu wanted to accompany Rong Que to the airport, but Rong Que refused.

Because he knew that watching the other person leave at the airport would be even more heartbreaking.

They parted ways at the door, and Lu Xu didn't show any signs of resentment. There was only a deep sense of reluctance.

They hugged tightly for a few minutes, as if they couldn't get enough of each other.

But time was limited, and Rong Que could only take his almost empty suitcase and leave.

Lu Xu returned to his routine of working diligently.

Fortunately, during the winter and summer vacations in China, Rong Que could come to visit him and stay for a few extra days. During these visits, Rong Que quietly accompanied him, making meals that suited his taste.

Lu Xu was already very happy with this arrangement.

However, Lu Xu couldn't spend extended periods of time with Rong Que because of his heavy workload. Most of his time was spent in his study and art studio.

Rong Que always felt that Lu Xu, in this state, seemed a bit unfamiliar.

Busy as if he were a machine.

He was concerned about Lu Xu's mental state, but Lu Xu seemed genuinely happy and dedicated to his hobbies, putting in every effort.

However, those days when Rong Que had to leave were always the most difficult for both of them.

No matter how many times, Lu Xu would still cry for several days before managing to regain his composure.

Perhaps it was the busyness of academics and work that gradually made Lu Xu have less time to think about other things. He became accustomed to busy and fulfilling days, especially with the anticipation of Rong Que's early return.

During this time, there were no more intimate actions between them.

Every year when Rong Que came, Lu Xu, at most, would cuddle up to him like he did when they were younger. Due to being exhausted during the day, Lu Xu would fall asleep instantly and then wake up early to work.

This routine continued for a full two years.

Finally, Lu Xu graduated ahead of schedule.

Although there was no graduation ceremony or anyone from his homeland present because he didn't inform anyone, Lu Xu felt a sense of accomplishment.

However, just as Lu Xu graduated abroad, Li Si got wind of the news. He went to take photos and videos of Lu Xu in his graduation gown and presented him with a large bouquet of flowers.

The two sat under a tree, chatting. Li Si looked at Lu Xu in his academic gown and admired him.

After all, he had witnessed Lu Xu's transformation from a lively and restless little cutie to the hardworking person he was now. "Aren't you tired of rushing back to China?" Li Si asked.

Lu Xu nodded, "It's tiring, but I feel like time has passed so quickly, as if I just arrived here yesterday."

"Aren't you afraid that when you go back, you'll find out Rong Que already has a girlfriend?" Li Si teased Lu Xu.

"No way," Lu Xu replied confidently.

Soon, Lu Xu packed up everything and prepared to return. Li Si was the one who came to see him off. To avoid raising suspicions, Lu Xu left his belongings at Li Si's place instead of sending them back home prematurely. He planned to arrange for them to be shipped after his return.

When they were parting ways, Li Si jokingly said, "No farewell kiss?"

Lu Xu was so happy, excited, and a bit nervous that he didn't even notice Li Si's emotions. "Nope," he replied.

Watching Lu Xu's departing figure, Li Si couldn't help but sigh.

It seemed that encountering someone so stunning in one's youth made it difficult to develop feelings for others later on.

This was true for him, and perhaps it was the same for Lu Xu and Rong Que.

Finally, they were about to be together for real.

Li Si felt it was time to completely let go of any lingering hopes.

After Lu Xu returned to China, he first contacted Qi Sui to coordinate for their performance.

He even registered a new account specifically to add Rong Que as a friend later.

On his main account, he told Rong Que that he was very busy recently and didn't need to call him.

Anyway, Lu Xu would occasionally do this in the past few years, so Rong Que didn't suspect anything.

Then, Lu Xu used his ability to transform into a young man with slightly curled hair, a pair of peach blossom eyes, and an elegant and beautiful appearance.

When Qi Sui arrived at the agreed-upon place, he naturally couldn't recognize Lu Xu. He looked around and didn't see him, so he called Lu Xu.

Soon, Qi Sui saw a young man in a knitted sweater sitting on the bed. The young man picked up his phone, smiled, waved at Qi Sui, and said on the phone, "Qi Sui ge."

Qi Sui, astonished, put down his phone and walked over. Hesitatingly, he asked, "Xiao Lu, did you get plastic surgery?"

Without waiting for Lu Xu to explain, Qi Sui said, "Honestly, it doesn't suit you."

Lu Xu chuckled, "It's a transformation using my ability."

"Qi Sui ge, can you let me pretend to be your distant relative staying at your house first? Rong Que ge will be back during the winter break, right?" Lu Xu went straight to the point.

Qi Sui has always known about Lu Xu's feelings for Rong Que. However, Rong Que didn't accept them before, thinking Lu Xu was too young. Qi Sui could easily figure out that Lu Xu intended to use this approach to make Rong Que stop treating him like a child.

Seeing Qi Sui didn't immediately agree, Lu Xu shook Qi Sui's hand in a somewhat coquettish manner. He knew that Qi Sui ge was the most easily persuaded, "Pretty please."

"Okay, okay." Qi Sui readily agreed.

"But how are you going to persuade him not to come to you? After all, he doesn't know you've graduated early," Qi Sui was a bit concerned, as sometimes one lie leads to countless others.

Lu Xu confidently smiled, "No worries, I'll call him and tell him not to come."

After discussing the important matters, Lu Xu couldn't help but say, "Qi Sui ge, you haven't changed at all."

Qi Sui, who was in his thirties, proudly touched his chin, "Right? I still look young and handsome."

"Still so innocent and cute," Lu Xu complimented seriously.

Qi Sui fell silent.

He felt like Lu Xu was saying he was naive.

"Qi Sui ge, do you not have someone you like?" Lu Xu, who didn't understand when he was younger, later realized that the relationship between Qi Sui and Xue Ying seemed similar to theirs.

The difference was that Qi Sui was easygoing, while Xue Ying was silent and reserved. Before Lu Xu went abroad, the two of them never broke through the unspoken understanding.

Qi Sui blushed a bit when asked, "Your Uncle Xue Ying did confess to me."

Lu Xu widened his eyes.

Qi Sui, just how oblivious could he be to make Xue Ying, the silent type, take the initiative to confess?

"You didn't agree?" Lu Xu felt that Qi Sui was quite obviously fond of Xue Ying.

Most people in the rich second-generation circle matured early, having had quite a few relationships already. But Qi Sui, despite being part of that circle, hadn't been in any relationships, be it with men or women.

Qi Sui remained silent.

After a while, he whispered, "I agreed, but I'm just not used to it."

Lu Xu became interested; he was curious about how their interaction pattern would change if he and Rong Xu were together. "Why is that?"

"It's hard to explain. It's like feeling uncomfortable doing anything together now. We used to bathe together without a problem." Qi Sui sighed, "Now, it's just... Forget it, you wouldn't understand."

"Forget it, what?" Lu Xu couldn't help but laugh. Deep down, he was filled with curiosity and anticipation for the new reunion with Rong Xu.

Qi Sui hastily changed the subject.

After not seeing Lu Xu for so long, he had truly become a knowledgeable adult.
