The Beautiful Brother of the Orion’s Family (Wearing Book) - 256

There are people like that, but it also comes with certain situations. Don't make trouble for them when they are around.

But now,

Tang Xu just doesn't understand. A mother-in-law could say things like that if a wife has been childless for over ten years, it's understandable that the mother-in-law might feel some anger.

But Tang Mei married into the Sun family, and her first child was a boy.

Even so, it's still difficult to make that old woman smile at her.

Usually, all the household chores fall to Tang Mei. She is the one who cooks and cleans for a family of seven or eight, and for over ten years, she has never had a day off.

Her mother-in-law is not kind, and the sisters-in-law often create trouble for her. Tang Mei can endure all of this, but after she gave birth to her second son, her husband started looking at her with more disdain.

What's worse, he even suggested they sleep in separate rooms!

At that time, Tang Mei was still in her postpartum confinement period and was so angry that she couldn’t provide milk. She had to drink a lot of herbal medicine later to restore her milk supply, and it really exhausted her.

Since then, her health has been particularly bad. She has had to drink various medicinal soups, but her recovery has been slow.

A few days ago, when her parents visited, Tang Mei tearfully complained, but since she had already been married for many years and had children, it was impossible for her to leave.

Who would have expected that, in such a short time, her parents would show up.

Tang Mei is a smart person, and she quickly realized that something must have happened at home.

“Why are you two suddenly here?”

When Tang Wei and Tang Zu left the house, their mother had repeatedly told them to bring their elder sister back.

But when they saw their elder sister, who seemed to have become terribly thin, both of them felt a surge of anger. They completely forgot what their mother had asked them to do. Especially after hearing the filthy curses coming from the courtyard, they nearly couldn’t hold back from rushing over to beat the old woman.

“You…”

“Cousin,” Tang Xu’s voice came from behind Tang Zu, interrupting the shout that was about to escape his lips.

Tang Zu turned his head to look at Tang Xu, and the anger he felt was slightly subdued, though his eyes still remained wide with rage.

Tang Xu waved his hand at them and then turned to Tang Mei, saying, “Cousin, you still recognize me, right? I’m your younger cousin, Xu Ge'er.”

Tang Mei stared blankly at Tang Xu, her eyes scanning his face, as if she couldn't quite match the person in front of her with the cousin she remembered.

Tang Xu turned around and took a small bundle from the carriage, inside which were some new clothes for children that he had packed.

They were all new, and since his child grew quickly, he had made too many clothes, and by the time they were ready to wear them, the child had already grown.

Even though some were given away, there were still plenty left. This time, he brought a few sets to give away. He couldn't show up empty-handed.

"I packed a few new clothes for my older cousin's children, to see if they fit."

He handed the small bundle over to Tang Mei with a smile, his eyes narrowing in a cheerful expression.

Tang Mei instinctively lowered her head to look, and through the open seam of the bundle, she could see the fabric that looked much better than what she had bought herself.

"That's too much, too much," she said hurriedly, trying to push the bundle back.

Just then, an arm suddenly reached out from behind and snatched the bundle away from Tang Mei.

Everyone turned to look, and they saw Tang Mei’s mother-in-law, with no manners at all, opening the bundle and feeling the small clothes inside.

Some people’s faces immediately give away their sharp and mean nature, and Tang Mei’s mother-in-law was one of them.

Her surname was Liu, and her given name was Fen.

Liu Fen frowned as she looked at the clothes in the bundle, showing the slightest hint of satisfaction, but instead of being grateful, she acted as though she had caught Tang Mei doing something wrong.

She immediately shouted at her, "This wild man shows up at your door, you shameless bitch. I always said that little bastard of yours doesn’t look anything like my son. You..."

Before Liu Fen could finish, Tang Xu raised his hand and slapped her without hesitation, offering no mercy at all.

Not only was Liu Fen stunned by the slap, but Tang Mei, Tang Wei, and Tang Zu were also dumbfounded.

Even Wei Dong widened his eyes in surprise, looking at his husband.

In his mind, his husband was the type who would only argue with words and never resort to violence. Even if the other person said something harsh, it didn’t warrant such a direct physical response.

Tang Xu took a deep breath, his smile cold and insincere, and with a sneer, he mocked Liu Fen, who was just beginning to recover: "My cousin marrying you must be the best luck your family has had in eight generations! What kind of place is your son from? You have three sons, yet you can’t say a single good word about her, only curses. How shameless are you? Do you think insulting your daughter-in-law and accusing her of finding a wild man will bring honor to your son? Should I start shouting here for you so the whole village can hear?"

Liu Fen, after being slapped, initially lunged forward, as if she was going to fight back. She couldn’t just let herself be slapped for nothing.

But seeing Tang Xu’s arrogant demeanor, she was too intimidated to approach him again.

Instead, she kept on cursing.

She hurled insults, calling him all sorts of foul names, using vulgar language. Tang Xu, uninterested in listening, raised his hand again and slapped her.

After the slap, he flicked his hand and, with a cold smile and narrowed eyes, gently asked, “Are you still cursing? If you keep it up, I’ll slap you again and let’s see who dares to step in and help you.”

Wei Dong, standing to the side, sighed.

Tang Mei and her two siblings stood in a row, too terrified to even breathe. They were all stunned, staring at Tang Xu, who, usually so gentle and mild, was now unleashing his fury.

Liu Fen collapsed to the ground, no longer cursing but instead crying and wailing loudly.

She cried at the top of her lungs, claiming that she had been bullied and shouting for people to come out and help her.

Was no one coming out to help?

A person had peeked out from the house earlier, but when they saw Wei Dong’s tall and sturdy frame, they immediately retreated back inside, not daring to get involved.

Despite Liu Fen’s shouting, crying, and making a scene, no one came out of the courtyard.

However, several curious neighbors peeked their heads out to watch the drama unfold.

Tang Xu sneered coldly, raising his voice: “My cousin, Tang Mei, has been married to you for over ten years. She’s had three sons to carry on your family name, working tirelessly inside and outside the house. She’s been respectful to her in-laws and friendly with her sisters-in-law. And yet, you are so ungrateful, treating her like she’s less than human. What, are the Tang family not people anymore? How dare you bully my cousin like this!”

Tang Xu had originally planned to come over, speak kindly, and take Tang Mei with him, but now, seeing the situation, he realized it was no use being polite. He wouldn’t let them get away with this.

“I’m telling you right now, Sun Daming, if you don’t give me an explanation today, don’t blame me for not being polite!”

Sun Daming was Tang Mei’s husband, the eldest son of the Sun family, a man with a simple, honest nature. He was the type who always kept his head down and worked hard, always obeying whatever his parents told him.

It took several shouts from Tang Xu before Sun Daming finally came out. He wasn’t coming out on his own, though—he was holding their youngest son in his arms and holding the hands of their two older sons, with the eldest leading the second.

Tang Xu raised an eyebrow, glancing at Liu Fen, who was still throwing a tantrum on the ground, waiting for her to approach him.

"I came here intending to have a civil conversation," he said, addressing Sun Daming. "But your mother immediately launched into a vicious verbal attack against me. I’m used to being spoiled by my husband, but I can't tolerate such slander. So, I slapped her twice to knock some sense into her. Otherwise, who knows what other nonsense her filthy mouth would come up with. I did this for your family’s reputation.”

After speaking to Sun Daming, Tang Xu turned to look at Wei Dong. “Ah Dong, do you think I’m right?”

Wei Dong nodded and lightly pressed on the back of his neck. “Yes, you’re absolutely right.”

Tang Zu, standing to the side, swallowed hard. He was both amazed and nervous, as everything—good or bad—seemed to be coming from Tang Xu’s mouth.

Sun Daming, on the other hand, stood dumbfounded, not knowing how to respond.

Glancing at the rest of Sun Daming’s siblings, who were standing off to the side watching without coming over, Tang Xu sneered and mocked, “Such a loving and united family, isn’t it?”

Tang Mei took the youngest son from her husband’s arms and held him close. She glanced at Tang Xu, then at her mother-in-law on the ground. Realizing that this situation wasn’t going to end well, she steeled herself and turned to Sun Daming.

“Let’s divorce,” she said firmly.

Sun Daming froze for a moment, his eyes wide as he stared at Tang Mei.

Even Liu Fen, who had been crying and cursing on the ground, fell silent as if something had blocked her throat.

She stared at Tang Mei, quickly scrambling to her feet, and asked anxiously, "You want a divorce?"

Tang Mei maintained a cold expression as she looked at her mother-in-law, then turned her gaze to Sun Daming. Taking a deep breath, she asked, "Sun Daming, are you mute? You've been silent all this time, are you not going to say a word?"

Sun Daming hung his head low, glancing at the child in Tang Mei’s arms and then at their two older sons. He pressed his lips together and said, "Ah Mei, stop making a scene."

Tang Mei forced a bitter smile, one that was filled with sorrow and despair.

She glanced at their two older sons, then at the youngest one she was holding. Taking another deep breath, she said more firmly, "I want a divorce."

In most villages, couples rarely reached the point of divorce, even when there were major issues.

A woman who left her husband would not only be looked down upon by the villagers, but even her own family would likely be ashamed of her.

But now, Tang Mei said it calmly, without hesitation, as if it was the only option left for her.

Sun Daming became flustered, glancing at his mother before rushing over to grab Tang Mei. "Ah Mei, don't divorce, I don't want a divorce."

Tang Mei let out a cold laugh, pulling away from his grasp. "When I was pregnant, your mother kept shouting that I was sleeping with someone else. The villagers were gossiping about me, and what did you say? You told me to endure it. Fine, I endured it."

She wiped her face, then looked down at the baby in her arms, who was staring up at her with wide eyes. "When our third child was born, your mother kept insisting he wasn’t your son. I nearly bled out during childbirth, and what did she do for me?"

Sun Daming couldn’t respond.

He was too dull and slow-witted to know how to defend himself or argue.

Liu Fen, however, shouted from the ground, "He's a bastard! He should have died when you gave birth!"

Tang Xu gritted his teeth, grabbed Liu Fen’s collar, and slapped her across the face with a forceful swing.

With a menacing tone, he hissed, "Don’t spout nonsense. My cousin said she wants a divorce, so get the village head over here. We’re doing it today."

Sun Daming quickly reached out to push Tang Xu away, but Wei Dong grabbed his hand and swiftly shoved it aside.

Then, with a single punch, he struck Sun Daming hard.

Sun Tian, Tang Mei's eldest son, saw his father being beaten and rushed over and tried to pull Wei Dong away. "Stop hitting my dad! You're a bad person!"

Wei Dong didn’t care whether the child was involved or not; he slapped Sun Tian’s hand away with a sharp motion.

Tang Xu sneered from the side. “What a truly well-raised, filial child. Your mother gets insulted, and you stayed silent, but you’re quick to protect your father.”

He then turned his gaze to Sun Yang, who was standing quietly with his head lowered, not saying anything. “Do you also think your father shouldn’t be hit?”

Sun Yang lifted his head, his face streaked with tears.

At only six years old, he may have been young, but he could clearly tell right from wrong.

“I... I know my mom was wronged,” he said in a small voice, but everyone present heard him.

Tang Xu’s expression softened, and he smiled warmly at the boy. “Good boy.”
