He was strikingly handsome, with a sharp gleam in his bright eyes, as if he was waiting for Liu Fen to come forward and challenge him.

The villagers who were watching from a distance burst out laughing. They mocked Tang Xu for being tough like a man and laughed at Liu Fen, calling her a coward.

"I hear her every day yelling at her daughter-in-law at home. Why is she so quiet now after being slapped several times?"

"I know, that young man looks delicate, but he’s not soft on people. I heard the sound of slaps from here, it was so crisp!"

"She deserved it, she needed someone stronger to put her in her place. Otherwise, she’d keep acting like a tyrant of her house."

"That Tang Mei must have done something wrong in her past life to marry into such a family. Sun Daming is just an idiot, he can’t even speak properly. He’s always quietly working, and look at what Liu Fen has turned the Sun family into these last few years."

Tang Xu furrowed his brows slightly and turned his head to look at the two middle-aged women who had been chatting so lively just moments ago.

Wei Dong was standing next to Tang Xu, coldly watching the commotion in front of him. Though Tang Xu couldn’t hear everything, Wei Dong, with his sharp senses, could.

The man, multitasking, listened to the whispers coming from not far away. His brows slightly furrowed, and his cold gaze locked onto Liu Fen, who was still cursing Tang Mei.

Liu Fen, who had been scolding Tang Mei, felt an uncomfortable and intense gaze on her. She turned her head quickly and locked eyes with Wei Dong, whose gaze was filled with murderous intent.

Liu Fen shuddered, hastily looking away.

The old village head stroked his white beard, furrowing his brows as he looked at Tang Mei. "Do you really want a divorce?"

Actually, Tang Mei had mentioned divorce earlier in a moment of impulse. Now, after being asked repeatedly, she was starting to feel like she might start to retract her words.

But before she could speak, Wei Dong, rarely, spoke up.

"Divorce. If you don’t, this whole family will stew your bones into soup."

His voice was cold and emotionless. If these words had come from Tang Zu or Tang Wei, they would have been full of anger and emotion.

But when Wei Dong said it so flatly, it felt like a simple statement of fact, as though if Tang Mei didn’t divorce, she really would be boiled down to a soup of bones.

The crowd, which had been so excitedly watching the drama just moments ago, suddenly felt a chill run up their spines. 

A couple of people even unconsciously shuddered.

Tang Mei looked at Wei Dong in disbelief. "What did you say?"

Wei Dong glanced at Sun Daming and asked him, "Do you know your mother is planning to have you marry a new wife?"

Sun Daming didn’t say anything. His silence made Wei Dong sneer coldly.

He raised his hand and placed it on Tang Xu’s shoulder, saying, "Let them get a divorce. If the Sun family disagrees, you can go to your uncle. Let the parents handle it, even if they have to resort to forcing her to divorce."

"Why?" Tang Xu looked up at his man, puzzled.

Wei Dong leaned in close to his ear and whispered, "Those two women over there said that the Old Lady is dissatisfied with Tang Mei’s health getting worse and worse. She plans to sell her off to an old widower for money, and then marry Sun Daming off to his own brother’s wife’s younger sister."

Tang Xu’s eyes widened in surprise. "Is it true?"

"They said so," Wei Dong raised his hand and pointed at the two women.

Tang Xu took a deep breath, turned to Tang Mei, and said, "Cousin, today you can divorce and come with us. If not, I’ve invited Uncle and Aunt tomorrow to pressure you into going through with it. The choice is yours."

"You, a ger, married outside the family! What right do you have to interfere in other people's affairs!" 

Perhaps because the village head was present, Liu Fen put her hands on her hips and shouted at Tang Xu. "Look at you, with that seductive look on your face. Take care of your own husband, and stop meddling in… ah!"

Tang Xu raised his hand again, and this time, he slapped Liu Fen hard across the face.

If the previous slap had been with some restraint, this one was full force. His palm even tingled from the impact.

Liu Fen was sent sprawling to the ground, and it took her a while before she could get back up.

Tang Xu sneered at Sun Daming and the other members of the Sun family who rushed to help her, saying, "Let me tell you all today, no matter if I’m a ger married outside the family, my cousin is getting a divorce from your Sun family!"

He turned to the village head and Tang Mei, saying, "The old village head is just muddying the waters here. Even though our Tang family’s daughter married out, she still doesn’t deserve to be treated this way! Cousin, you might not know yet, but your evil mother-in-law is planning to sell you off to an old widower while you’re still alive and able to work. She’ll use the money from selling you to marry off Sun Daming to a new wife." 

He smiled and turned his face, pointing at Sun Daming, who was helping Liu Old Lady back on her feet. "Cousin, why don’t you ask Sun Daming if he knows about this?"

Tang Mei was stunned, her face filled with disbelief as she looked at Sun Daming.

Tang Wei and Tang Zu were also shocked by these words. After recovering from the shock, the two brothers couldn’t hold back anymore and charged at the Sun family, tearing into them.

The villagers watching were also stunned by Tang Xu’s words. By the time they reacted, they saw a full-on fight had broken out in the front. 

The young, strikingly handsome man stood with his arms crossed, coldly watching as his strong, muscular companion knocked out one person after another with a punch.

Soon, the area was filled with cries and shouting, creating a chaotic and lively scene.

Tang Mei, holding her youngest son in her arms and grasping her second son’s hand, looked at her eldest son, who was trying to protect his father. Her heart was full of disappointment.

After her eldest son was born, his grandmother had been incredibly fond of him. As soon as she finished her month of confinement, her grandmother took the child and raised him herself, showering him with love and attention all these years. 

It was no wonder that her eldest son wasn’t close to her; he believed everything his grandmother said.

Tang Mei took a deep breath and walked a few steps toward the old village head, who was anxiously shouting for people to break up the fight. With a cold face, she said, "Village Head, I want a divorce."

The old village head let out a heavy sigh, and Tang Xu smiled, turning to Wei Dong, who was walking away after throwing punches. "Ah Dong, it’s done."

Wei Dong, obedient as ever, directly threw Sun Daming, who had already been beaten up several times, onto the ground like a piece of trash. 

Sun Tian rushed over, hugging his father and started crying, shouting between sobs, "Mom, why are you so heartless? Dad’s been beaten so badly! Why don’t you care about him at all? Grandma was right— you’ve never wanted to be with Dad anymore!"

Tang Mei had originally felt hurt by her eldest son’s attitude towards her. Though she was still upset, she now felt that it was no longer important.

However, to her surprise, Sun Yang wasn’t having it. He suddenly shouted loudly at his older brother, "You’re talking nonsense! Mom is so good to us, and you’re not satisfied!"

Sun Tian, with a stern face, lunged at his younger brother, ready to teach him a lesson. 

Normally quiet and submissive, he couldn’t stand his brother’s defiance now and decided it was time to discipline him.

Sun Tian, spoiled and raised well, was much taller and stronger than Sun Yang. He charged forward like a young bull, raising his hand to strike his brother.

Tang Wei reached out and grabbed him, pulling him away, while Tang Zu stood in front of Sun Yang to protect him.

"Uncle, Second Uncle, why aren't you helping me!" Sun Tian struggled. "Let go! I’m going to kill that little brat!"

Tang Wei raised his hand and slapped him angrily. "Shut up! That’s your brother!"

Sun Tian had never been beaten like this in his life. He went wild, trying to claw and bite Tang Wei. Liu Fen who had always pampered her eldest grandson, charged at Tang Wei as well, furious at him for hurting her precious grandson.

As always, when there’s chaos, force is used to suppress it.

Wei Dong raised his foot and kicked Sun Tian to the ground, throwing Liu Fen down as well. He turned to the old village head and said, "What are you waiting for?"

The old village head’s beard trembled as he gave a heavy grunt. "Fine, fine, fine, get the divorce. But you’ll all regret it afterward!"

Tang Mei replied firmly, "I won’t regret it."

Sun Daming shook his head, pleading, "No divorce, I don’t want a divorce, Ah Mei, I was wrong. Please forgive me, I didn’t agree to sell you off, I really didn’t agree."

"Oh, so you knew about this but didn’t tell my cousin, you didn’t object, and just waited to enjoy the benefits?" Tang Xu sneered, retorting, "How can you say such things? You’ve finally got the nerve to speak now? Your face is thicker than your family’s grinding stone!"

Someone chuckled, followed by a burst of laughter.

Sun Daming’s face turned red with anger as he glared at Tang Xu.

Wei Dong, with a cold expression, warned, "Keep staring, and I’ll gouge your eyeballs out."

Sun Daming quickly turned his head and looked at Tang Mei.

Tang Mei’s face was indifferent.

With Wei Dong, the powerful figure, standing by, even though Sun Daming was unwilling, he was forced to place his handprint on the divorce papers. 

Tang Mei asked her second son if he was willing to leave the Sun family with her, and he gave an affirmative answer.

Then, without taking anything with her, Tang Mei left with her younger sons, riding in a mule cart, and followed Tang Xu and the others back to the Tang family.

"Cousin, don’t be upset," Tang Xu said gently, comforting the downcast Tang Mei. "You’re breaking free from such trash and will have a fresh start. Your good days are ahead."

Tang Mei gave him a weak smile, showing her teeth in a grimace. She hugged her youngest son a little tighter, who was looking up at her.

Sun Yang, sitting beside her, leaned against her body and curiously asked Tang Xu, "Uncle, after we leave, will my mom get scolded?"

Tang Xu smiled and gently patted his head, reassuring him, "No, don’t worry."

At the Tang family’s old house, Luo Pingping, who was still pretending to be ill on the bed, never expected that her plan to deceive her daughter to come visit, would end up coming back divorce instead.
