Once again sitting in the mule cart, Sun Yang felt the cart move, his head and eyes were a bit red, and he didn't say a word.
Tang Xu gently sighed, then said, "What's wrong? Don't worry, I’ll hold you."
He reached out and pulled him into his arms, lightly patting his back as he spoke, "It's not that your grandparents don't care about you, they just want to get compensation for your mother's treatment. You might not understand this now, but you know that your mother is tired, right?"
Sun Yang raised his head and looked at him, nodding lightly, "I know, Mom is very tired."
"Right, you're already a little man. But your brother is different," he paused, turning his head to ask the driver, Wei Dong, "You can call him...uncle?"
Wei Dong turned his head to look at him, "Anything works."
Tang Xu curled his lips, then looked at Sun Yang, "Call him little uncle!"
"Oh, little uncle, when can I go back to Mom’s side?" Sun Yang obediently changed his words.
"Little uncle will take you to stay with us for a few days, there are three younger brothers at home, they're all younger than you. You can play with them. When things are settled with your mother, I’ll send you back, okay?" Tang Xu glanced at the boy's old clothes, then used his finger to gently rub the thin cotton jacket he was wearing.
He let out a light sigh and asked Wei Dong, "Ah Dong, the clothes that Xiao Xi used to wear haven’t been sent away right?"
"No," Wei Dong shook his head, "They're all in his room."
Tang Xu looked at Sun Yang, who, although not very old, was quite tall for his age, though a bit thin, with little flesh on his body.
He would definitely be able to wear Wei Xi’s old clothes, as when Wei Xi first met Tang Xu, he was about the same height as Sun Yang now, and similarly around the same build, not too fat or thin.
On the way, Tang Xu briefly told him about the three kids at home. The little guy listened seriously and even asked excitedly, "So they're my brothers, right? They can all call me brother!"
"Yes," Tang Xu nodded with a smile, "Do you like being called brother?"
Sun Yang nodded, puffing out his cheeks as he said, "At home, no one calls me brother, they just call me by my name."
Tang Xu laughed and ruffled his head, "Those three will definitely stick to you, so don't complain when they get on your nerves."
After meeting the three brothers, Sun Yang was convinced.
The chubby one and Er Bao were especially excited, surrounding Sun Yang and asking him all sorts of questions, calling him "brother" nearly nonstop.
Xiao Bao, however, was a bit shy. He hid behind his father’s leg, curiously watching the tall, thin "big brother."
His eyes were full of admiration, but he didn’t dare approach, he was still a little scared of strangers—even if they were kids. He would only take the initiative once he got more familiar.
Tang Xu had been busy all day and was feeling exhausted. When he got home, the fatigue hit him. He planned to take a bath and then lie down for a nap.
"Are you going to say something to your father?" Wei Dong came over from the backyard.
Seeing Tang Xu yawning, he wrapped his arms around him and guided him towards the house. "You should sleep first. Don’t bother with a bath."
Xiao Bao clung to Tang Xu's leg. When he moved, the little guy didn’t let go, and when he wasn’t prepared, he was pulled down and sat right on the ground.
Tang Xu was startled and quickly bent down to pick him up. "Are you okay?"
Xiao Bao shook his head and then snuggled closer to him. "Dad~ hug~" He hadn’t been very attached to Tang Xu these past few days, but now he wanted his dad.
Tang Xu picked him up and rubbed his face against the little one’s. He called out to the chubby boy, "Da Bao, come here and take Xiao Bao to play. I’m tired, I need to sleep for a while."
The chubby boy quickly nodded and reached out to take Xiao Bao.
Xiao Bao reached out and was picked up by his older brother. However, even though the chubby boy was strong, he couldn’t carry him for long and quickly set him down.
Xiao Bao wasn’t happy and clung to his brother’s neck, wrapping his legs around his waist, whining and acting spoiled.
"Xiao Bao, let go, or we’re both going to fall!" The chubby boy swayed as he took a couple of steps, his handsome little face tight with concentration, holding his breath.
Sun Yang stepped forward to help and took Xiao Bao in his arms.
When he lifted Xiao Bao by the armpits, Xiao Bao thought it was his second brother holding him and let go willingly.
But when he turned his head and saw Er Bao standing slightly ahead, his big round eyes widened. He quickly looked back at the person who had picked him up.
Sun Yang had never seen such a cute little boy before. He was caught off guard by those big eyes, and his face turned red.
Fearing that Xiao Bao might cry, Sun Yang hurriedly put him down, scratched his head, and gently spoke to him, "You’re called Xiao Bao, right? Your nickname sounds nice."
Xiao Bao’s eyes instantly lit up. He liked this brother!
Everyone had complimented him on how cute he was, but no one had ever praised his name before!
Although Xiao Bao was not yet three years old, he understood that his name was given to him by his dad. It was a name that meant he was his dad's precious child!
In that moment, Xiao Bao immediately grew fond of the brother who praised his name.
However, he still approached cautiously, like a little rabbit easily startled. Holding hands with his eldest brother, he looked up at Sun Yang with a curious expression.
Inside the house, Tang Xu had changed his clothes and said to Wei Dong, "I think we should go together, I’m afraid you might not express things clearly."
Wei Dong pinched his face with his fingers. "It’s not like I can’t talk."
"I know you can talk," Tang Xu smiled and glanced at him, standing on tiptoe to give him a quick kiss on the chin. "Let’s go."
At the Tang Erhu household, Wang Cuicui was taking the clothes that had dried on the line.
Hearing the sound of the main door opening, she turned around and saw the couple approaching.
"Where have you two been? You were both missing early this morning," Wang Cuicui asked curiously, with the clothes draped over her arm.
"We went to the Sun family with Tang Wei and Tang Zu," Tang Xu said as he helped Wang Cuicui with the clothes and walked into the house. "Where’s Father? Is he not home?"
"He’s sleeping. Did you bring Tang Mei back?" Wang Cuicui placed the clothes on the kang and patted Tang Erhu. "Get up."
Tang Erhu groggily opened his eyes, sat up, rubbed his face, and was startled to see two extra people in the room.
After a closer look, he realized it was his own son and son-in-law. He gave them an annoyed glare.
"Dad, you need to go to Uncle’s place tomorrow morning," Tang Xu sat at the edge of the kang, reaching over to help Wang Cuicui fold the clothes.
"Why?" Tang Erhu asked, confused.
Tang Xu rubbed his nose, a little reluctant, and said, "We’ve brought back my cousin. She came back after getting a divorce."
"What did you say?" Tang Erhu’s eyes widened in shock, suddenly wide awake from his drowsiness.
Wang Cuicui looked at Tang Xu with a blank expression, wondering if she had heard that wrong!
Tang Xu shrugged his shoulders and chuckled, "It’s true. She got a divorce."
TL: …is the author planning on pairing Xiao Bao and Sun Yang together..? I know they are not really related since Tang Xu isn’t from the Tang Family but I don’t how to feel about it lol I think I am just overthinking it.
But if it did happen Wei Dong would be so pissed lol
