The Beautiful Brother of the Orion’s Family (Wearing Book) - 312

When Tang Xu went to meet up with Wei Dong, his man had a dirty little child with him.

At that moment, Tang Xu felt his scalp was numb and his face was filled with confusion.

However, he didn’t jump to any wild conclusions right away.

The problem was, why buy such a skinny little thing?

Though he had considered buying someone to help with the housework after it was built, it wasn’t something that had to be done right away.

Moreover, this child looked malnourished. Buying him to help out was one thing, but it was unclear whether he could even survive, let alone work.

Tang Xu was full of questions, his expression changing constantly.

Wei Dong also felt helpless.

He knew he wasn't exactly a kind person, but seeing the elderly woman's body left in the room, he couldn't just ignore it.

Luckily, a neighbor who knew the grandmother and grandchild explained the situation. They said the little beggar wasn’t the grandmother’s biological grandson but a baby she had found in a swaddling cloth.

The elderly woman wasn’t strong enough to work and had spent her life begging with the child nearby. They barely got by, never knowing where their next meal would come from.

Now that the grandmother had passed, the little beggar was completely orphaned.

Wei Dong, following the principle of helping others fully and sending the Buddha to the West, also wanted to accumulate some good karma for his own children.

He bought a simple coffin and left fifty copper coins for the neighbors who helped with the burial, then he stopped getting involved.

Logically speaking, after doing all of this, his connection to the matter should have ended there.

But who would have thought, the little beggar kept following him.

Even when the elderly woman was buried, the child didn’t leave, trailing behind Wei Dong, persistently following him and refusing to go away.

Seeing the pitiful look on the child’s face, Wei Dong didn’t know what else to say. He could only let the child follow him.

So now, when Tang Xu saw the situation, his expression went from astonishment to sympathy.

He then walked over to the nervous and awkward little beggar, squatted down in front of him, and gently asked with a smile, “What’s your name? How old are you?”

The little beggar shrank his shoulders, nervously swallowed several times, and then said in a small voice, "I... I’m called Yue’er, Yue Ge’er. I’m six years old."

Tang Xu was surprised and asked, "You’re a ger?"

Yue Ge’er suddenly raised his voice, causing a shiver, and he nodded tremblingly.

"I... I can work. I can do anything. I don’t eat much. Please, please don’t drive me away," the child said, tears falling like raindrops, his eyes full of pleading.

Wang Cui Cui and Tang Mei, who were standing nearby, couldn’t bear to watch, especially Tang Mei, who almost went forward to comfort the child.

However, Tang Li pulled her back.

After all, this wasn’t something they could decide on their own. Taking in another child wasn’t a big deal for them now, but it didn’t mean they had to accept the child just because he came asking. If others found out that they were too generous, it could cause trouble.

Tang Xu sighed, stretched out his hand to take Yue Ge’er’s small hand, and said, "Alright, stop crying. Come with me, wash up first, then have something to eat. We’ll talk about the rest later."

Tang Xu shot Wei Dong a glare, Wei Dong raised his hand to scratch his nose, and felt a bit embarrassed.

In the backyard of the restaurant, there was a place for washing up. Tang Xu helped the dirty little beggar take a thorough bath, using three buckets of hot water to wash him from head to toe, inside and out.

After changing the child’s clothes, Tang Xu looked at his little face, surprised by how different he appeared.

“He’s quite good looking, though so thin. You can clearly see his ribs sticking out," Tang Xu said as he sat on a chair.

The child was eating hungrily, shoveling food into his mouth. Tang Xu turned to Wei Dong and asked, "What do you think?"

Wei Dong, with no hesitation, replied, "Well, if you want to take him in, there's no problem. If you decide to raise him, you can go to the town mayor and get a contract. If you don’t want to, you can ask someone you know if they’re willing to take him in."

Tang Xu tapped his fingers on his knee and said, "We could bring him home as a companion for Xiao Bao."

Xiao Bao was a ger. Although he was currently playing with his two older brothers, he couldn’t play with them forever.

There were certain things that were not suitable for him. In particular, the three older men in the family had mentioned this more than once.

After the age of three, a boy and a ger needed to be raised separately. Otherwise, if a ger was raised without knowing this, it may be difficult for him to get married in the future.

Of course, Tang Xu didn’t mind. He didn’t see much of a difference between a boy and a ger, but society was what it was. Things couldn’t be just the way one wanted them to be.

Following the crowd wasn’t always a good idea, but standing alone would definitely bring trouble.

“The gers from wealthy families always have a nanny with them, that is,  someone from the nanny’s family who is a ger follows them around, attending to their needs," Wei Dong recalled from his memories and nodded, "You can raise him."

Tang Xu gave a slight nod and then went to the nearby room, where Wang Cuicui and the others were organizing the things they had bought. When they saw him come in, they went over to him.

"We discussed it and decided to bring this child back to keep Xiao Bao company," Tang Xu said.

Wang Cuicui agreed, "That sounds good. You two are kind-hearted, and this child will surely be grateful in the future."

Tang Xu thought to himself that whether the child would be grateful was uncertain for now, but since they had decided to take him in, they needed to handle the necessary paperwork quickly to avoid any issues later on.

Originally, they had planned to buy the things and head back without delay, but because they needed to get this child’s documentation, they ended up returning home after dark.

When the family saw them come back, they all sighed in relief. Tang Erhu furrowed his brow and complained, “Why did it take so long? And why did you bring back a child?”

When he saw the red birthmark on the child's forehead, his frown deepened. “And it’s a ger?”

The man was big and burly, and his tone was harsh. Yue Ge’er, frightened, shrank back, trembling and moving closer to Tang Xu.

"Father, lower your voice, it's not like you haven't seen one before," Tang Xu shot back, then explained, "He’s here to be a playmate for Xiao Bao."

Wang Cuicui walked over and pulled Tang Erhu away, explaining the situation as they walked.

Tang Erhu continued to frown, grumbling, "You're bringing a child home every day."

Wang Cuicui nudged him with her elbow, signaling for him to keep quiet.

Wei Dong and Liu Yao took the things they had bought to the backyard to organize.

Some of the items were for Tang Li's dowry, so those were sent straight to that side, and the rest were for their own use.

The chubby little boy, holding his two younger brothers' hands, curiously stood under the eaves, eyeing the new child behind his father.

He tilted his head, a look of innocence and sweetness on his face, and asked, "Father, who is that?"

Tang Xu smiled and pulled Yue Ge’er out from behind him. "This is Yue Ge’er, who came to our house specially to play with Xiao Bao."

Xiao Bao’s eyes widened in surprise. "Really? He’s here to play with me?"

Yue Ge’er stood there, stunned, staring at the three well-dressed children in front of him. His face turned red immediately.

They, they all looked so good.
