Brother, you smell good - 27

Cheng Mofei wasn’t exactly the most well-behaved sleeper; he always liked holding onto something—it made him feel more comfortable.

When he used to sleep alone, he’d hug a bit of the blanket. Now that he shared the bed with Shen Yu, naturally, he just hugged Shen Yu instead.

With Cheng Mofei holding him, Shen Yu felt warm and slept soundly.

It was a win-win.

Because of this, the sensation on his leg became even more noticeable.

Autumn sleepwear was already thin, and the fabric was almost negligible.

Listening to the steady rhythm of breathing in his ear, Shen Yu’s mind went blank for several seconds.

Cheng Mofei was still fast asleep and completely oblivious.

Shen Yu tried moving his body slightly, but Cheng Mofei was holding him so tightly, and the bed was so narrow, that any attempt to break free would definitely wake him up.

Since neither of them had an early class today and didn’t need to get up right away, Cheng Mofei was unlikely to wake up anytime soon.

After a moment’s thought, Shen Yu decided—he’d stay nestled in Cheng Mofei’s arms and close his eyes for a little longer.

When Cheng Mofei woke up on his own, his reaction might turn out to be quite amusing.

The dormitory was incredibly quiet, and the blackout curtains worked well to block out most sunlight, ensuring it didn’t disturb their sleep.

Shen Yu, however, was no longer sleepy.

Yet lying next to Cheng Mofei, he felt completely content, even if they were just lying there doing nothing.

The same orange-scented body wash lingered on both of them, blending warmly together, indistinguishable from one another.

...

Cheng Mofei had stayed up later than Shen Yu the previous night.

Shen Yu had nestled against him to watch a video for a while before falling asleep. Cheng Mofei, not as tired, continued scrolling through videos on his phone for a bit longer.

Only after turning off his phone and removing the other earbud from Shen Yu’s ear did he finally go to sleep.

Once Shen Yu fell asleep, his breathing was steady and soft, almost soothing enough to help someone else sleep.

It didn’t take long before Cheng Mofei drifted into a restful slumber himself.

He slept well, and when he groggily woke up the next morning, he instinctively tightened his arms around the “thing” in his embrace and comfortably rubbed his face against it.

A few seconds later, Cheng Mofei finally realized what the "thing" he was hugging was.

He opened his eyes and slightly pulled back, only to meet a pair of dark, clear eyes staring back at him.

It was Shen Yu.

Oh, right. It was cold, and Shen Yu had come over to his bed last night. They had slept together.

Cheng Mofei wasn’t sure if Shen Yu had been woken up by his movements.

That thought had barely crossed his mind when he suddenly noticed something.

He seemed to be... pressing against Shen Yu.

At his age, with all the energy of youth, Cheng Mofei was long accustomed to this sort of morning reaction.

In fact, the science video he had watched last night had mentioned this, too—it was a sign of a healthy body.

If this kind of thing didn’t happen for an extended period, then that would be a cause for concern. It could indicate issues with the liver or kidneys.

For people their age, the average number of morning erections per month was over 25.

In Cheng Mofei’s mind, Shen Yu must have been just as used to it as he was.

Besides, they had already bathed together and seen each other completely—there was nothing to feel embarrassed about.

When Shen Yu had visited his house before, they had watched a movie together, and in that movie, Lucas and Aiden even helped each other out.

Friends who are close enough wouldn’t mind these kinds of things.

Back in middle school, some girls with good relationships would even "playfully grab each other’s chests." Cheng Mofei had seen it happen plenty of times in the classroom.

At the time, he didn’t quite understand it, but now he sort of did.

Shen Yu had definitely noticed, but he just stared at Cheng Mofei in a daze, completely frozen, not even trying to push him away.

How amusing.

Cheng Mofei, on purpose, pressed his leg lightly against Shen Yu’s again. Seeing Shen Yu’s eyes instantly widen like saucers, and quickly press his leg back in return, he casually said, “Looks like we’re both perfectly healthy.”

Shen Yu: “…”

Healthy, my ass.

Shen Yu’s heart was practically about to jump out of his chest.

It was his body—he knew better than anyone why it had reacted like that.

—Because he liked Cheng Mofei. He had no defense against Cheng Mofei’s deliberate teasing.

Thankfully, this idiot Cheng Mofei couldn’t even imagine that possibility. He just chalked it up to a normal morning physiological response and even used the content from last night’s science video to joke with him.

Shen Yu immediately got up, puffing out his cheeks in frustration as he climbed out of bed. He went to change and freshen up, practically bolting to lock the bathroom door.

He was terrified that if he waited even one more second, Cheng Mofei would barge in and suggest they “help each other out.”

…That would totally give him away.

Feeling the bed suddenly empty, Cheng Mofei propped himself up on one arm, looking toward the bathroom door with an amused expression.

Because of Cheng Mofei’s “nonsense” that morning, Shen Yu didn’t go back to his bed that night.

Shen Yu did want to get closer to Cheng Mofei, to bridge the gap between them—but now he’d realized something.

There was no need.

Cheng Mofei already treated him as a very, very good brother. The distance between them was already close enough. If they got any closer, it felt like things might go terribly wrong.

For now, he didn’t have any better ideas. Besides, with the upcoming freshman orientation party just around the corner, he was swamped. He decided to wait until after the event to think about it again.

The orientation party was scheduled for Friday evening, and the days leading up to it were packed with rehearsals. Shen Yu’s schedule was so full that he was barely making it back to the dorm before the curfew every night.

That night, when it was finally time to rest, Shen Yu climbed silently into his own bed, not sneaking his way to Cheng Mofei's bed anymore.

Just as he was tucking in his blanket, ready to lie down and sleep, Cheng Mofei suddenly climbed up and grabbed the corner of his blanket.

Shen Yu turned to look at him, puzzled.

Cheng Mofei rubbed the thin fabric of Shen Yu’s blanket between his fingers and said, “This blanket is way too thin. Come sleep in mine.”

Shen Yu politely declined, "It's fine. It's not that cold tonight."

Cheng Mofei frowned, unceremoniously calling him out, "The weather report says tonight’s low is a degree colder than last night."

"Is that so," Shen Yu responded lightly, "I feel fine."

In Cheng Mofei’s mind, Shen Yu was only insisting on sleeping alone because he was embarrassed about what happened that morning.

Last night, it had taken a while to warm Shen Yu up so they were at the same temperature.

However, with a blanket that thin, Shen Yu would definitely end up freezing if he slept by himself.

Cheng Mofei softened his tone, trying to coax him. "The orientation party is almost here. What if you get sick? The temperature’s been dropping a little every day lately. I promise I won’t tease you anymore. If I do, then… then I’ll never be able to get it up again in my life."

He deliberately lowered his voice when he said the last part, so only the two of them could hear it.

Shen Yu: "…"

Good grief. It sounded like a solemn vow, but in reality, it was a veiled threat.

Well played, Cheng Xiaofei.

Shen Yu felt both amused and exasperated, completely unsure of what to say in response.

Seeing that Shen Yu still wasn’t saying anything, Cheng Mofei suddenly stood up, went back to his bed, and grabbed his own blanket.

Without hesitation, he brought it over, laid it on top of Shen Yu’s blanket, and climbed right into Shen Yu’s bed.

“This works too. Sleep.”

Shen Yu: “…”

Across the room, Xiao Xiong was gaming on his phone with headphones on, and Sun Xinghe was busy chatting with his girlfriend. Neither of them noticed what was happening on this side of the room.

And so, for the next few nights, Cheng Mofei brought his own blanket and pillow to sleep in Shen Yu’s bed.

Almost every morning, Shen Yu would wake up to Cheng Mofei’s unconscious morning reaction pressing against him.

But since Cheng Mofei wasn’t deliberately teasing or messing with him anymore, it wasn’t unbearable.

Besides, Shen Yu had to admit—he still liked sleeping next to Cheng Mofei.

Tsk.

What a great body to have at nineteen.

By Friday evening, the day of the orientation party had arrived. Shen Yu was dressed early, slipping into the suit the academy had prepared for him.

Along with the other hosts, he was ushered to the makeup station to get ready.

It was Shen Yu’s first time wearing makeup, so he couldn’t help but feel a little nervous.

The senior girls doing his makeup were smiling the whole time, constantly praising how good-looking he was and how fair his skin was.

They even asked if he had a girlfriend, what type of person he liked, and if he wanted them to play matchmaker for him. Shen Yu was so flustered that he didn’t dare say a word.

The welcome party went off without a hitch.

Thanks to the event, Shen Yu made several new friends—both boys and girls—all of them genuinely nice people.

Unfortunately, the party required tickets to attend, and tickets were only distributed to students in the College of Chemistry. Cheng Mofei also had some tasks to take care of that evening, so he wasn’t able to accompany Shen Yu.

By the time Cheng Mofei finished his business and rushed over, the only seat left was in the far back corner.

It was in terrible shape—the chair was wobbly, creaking unsteadily every time he sat down—which explained why no one had claimed it.

Still, he arrived just in time to see Shen Yu hosting.

Shen Yu was dressed in a sleek little suit and wore subtle makeup, looking like a proper little prince.

Cheng Mofei couldn’t take his eyes off him.

Unfortunately, Shen Yu’s gaze didn’t meet his. After finishing his lines, Shen Yu gracefully exited the stage, leaving it to the next group of students performing a skit.

Cheng Mofei sighed inwardly.

Cheng Mofei felt a twinge of regret.

The audience wasn’t particularly quiet, and he overheard a group of girls nearby whispering to each other.

“The male host just now was so handsome. He could totally be a celebrity.”

“I know who he is. His name’s Shen Yu. Someone posted about him on the confession wall during military training.”

“Is he single?”

“Single.”

“I wonder what type he likes.”

“What do you think? Interested? I have his contact info—want me to send it to you?”

“Yes, send it to me, send it to me!”

Cheng Mofei’s brows furrowed deeply into a sharp "川" shape.

After the party ended, Shen Yu finished removing his makeup and changed back into his regular clothes.

He’d just finished exchanging pleasantries with his classmates and teachers and was walking out of the auditorium when an arm suddenly draped over his shoulder.

"Handsome, huh? A male celebrity," Cheng Mofei's voice rang out.

Shen Yu was startled. "What are you doing here?"

Cheng Mofei had a look on his face as if he had been betrayed by a scumbag. "I came over after finishing my business. I’ve been sitting down there for so long, and you seriously didn’t see me once?"

The auditorium was large, almost filled to capacity. During non-hosting times, Shen Yu was watching the performances of other students and hadn't really paid attention to the people sitting in the audience.

Shen Yu asked, "How did you get a ticket?"

Cheng Mofei replied, "I asked a friend from the Chemistry department for it. He couldn’t come because of something."

Oh, so that's how.

The tickets weren't real-name registration, and they weren’t checked too strictly.

Suddenly, Cheng Mofei leaned in a little closer. "You've really made it, huh, male celebrity? So many girls around me are talking about you, saying they want to chase you. Let me interview you—what type do you like?"

Shen Yu didn't want to discuss this topic with Cheng Mofei, worried that it might end up like the other senior students who tried to match him with some girl. He bluntly said, "I’m not planning to date for now."

"Really?"

"Yeah."

Cheng Mofei seemed to relax, as if a weight had been lifted off his shoulders, walking while saying, "I agree. Being single is great. You can do whatever you want."

Shen Yu blinked, unable to stop himself from silently thinking: So that's why you've never dated anyone throughout your entire college life.

The whole way back, Cheng Mofei was rambling on and on, "Look at Old Sun now, he's being controlled by his girlfriend, not allowed to stay up too late or eat too much. How uncomfortable..."

Back at the dorm, Shen Yu casually glanced at the basket of sugar oranges on his desk.

His gaze suddenly froze, and he counted the number of oranges inside, then looked at Cheng Mofei.

"Did you secretly eat some again?"
