Shen Yu: "?"

Shen Yu doubted whether he was hearing things.

He raised his gaze and immediately met Cheng Mofei's exceptionally clear eyes.

...

It was his fault.

Cheng Mofei simply thought he wouldn’t make it in time for the curfew, so he decided to stay at a hotel for the night. Some friends also stay in hotels when traveling, so it wasn’t a big deal.

He was overthinking it.

However, staying at a hotel with Cheng Mofei for once would be a good experience, especially since they would be staying with a same-sex couple. Shen Yu naturally wouldn’t refuse.

"Alright, let’s go then."

Han Xuan and Tan Feng also overheard their conversation and exchanged glances, but said nothing.

It was only recently that they had heard rumors and realized Cheng Mofei was supposed to be homophobic, but now, it seemed like he wasn’t that way after all.

They had a great time tonight.

But these two really are getting pretty close... I wonder what’s going on?

Is it just pure friendship?

With that, the four of them left the mahjong parlor together and headed to the nearest hotel.

Yanda University wasn’t far from the city center, and since the surrounding area was a university town, the cost of living was low. Many people were willing to stay in this area, so the hotel business was quite good.

Tan Feng asked, “What rooms do you have available?”

The front desk checked and replied, “We have two standard double rooms, two special offer single rooms, and two special offer double rooms. The special offer rooms don’t have windows.”

Tan Feng tugged on Han Xuan’s arm, “Let’s take one of the standard double rooms for us.”

Shen Yu and Cheng Mofei exchanged glances.

Now, there was only one standard double room left, along with the special offer rooms.

The special offer rooms didn’t have windows and weren’t very ventilated, so staying in one would be uncomfortable. But the standard double room only had one left.

They had two options: either the two of them could share the standard double room, or one could stay in the standard double room and the other in a special offer room.

But ever since they found out about Shen Yu’s sexual orientation, they hadn’t shared a bed...

Shen Yu spoke up first, “Let’s take one of the standard double rooms too, just for one night. We can save some money, is that okay?”

Cheng Mofei immediately nodded.

That made sense. Sharing a room would save a lot of money. Shen Yu already had a part-time job that was quite exhausting, and spending an extra couple hundred yuan felt like a waste.

If needed, he could just sleep on the floor; after all, there was heating, so it wouldn’t be cold.

After registering their details, the front desk handed them two room keys.

Before leaving, Han Xuan asked, “Can we have delivery sent upstairs directly?”

The front desk pointed to a large table in the lobby, where several food deliveries were sitting, explaining, “All deliveries are placed on the delivery table for guests to pick up themselves.”

It was also for safety reasons.

Han Xuan nodded and didn’t say anything more.

One of the room keys was for the second floor, and the other for the third. The four of them got into the elevator and officially separated, each heading to their respective rooms.

As soon as Cheng Mofei entered the room, he quickly scanned it.

The room wasn’t small, and there was even a sofa, but it was too small to fit an adult man. It seemed like the only option was to make space by the side of the bed and sleep on the floor.

“I’ll call the front desk and ask them to bring up two extra blankets,” Cheng Mofei said, heading straight for the landline.

Shen Yu was a bit confused. “Isn’t one blanket enough?”

Even if Cheng Mofei wanted to "avoid suspicion" and sleep separately, having one blanket brought over should be fine.

Cheng Mofei explained, “The floor is pretty hard. I’ll use one for the floor and half for covering. I’ve got a match tomorrow afternoon, so I’m worried that sleeping on the floor might make my back and waist sore and affect my performance.”

Shen Yu: "..."

So, he never even considered sleeping on the bed.

Shen Yu felt both helpless and amused. He sat at the edge of the bed, slightly raised his head, and looked at Cheng Mofei. “You can sleep on the bed with me. I don’t mind. But if you do…”

Cheng Mofei quickly interrupted him, “I don’t mind either. I was just worried you might.”

Shen Yu smiled, “It’s fine, we’re both guys. Sharing a bed occasionally isn’t a big deal. If I’m always treated specially, I’d actually feel more uncomfortable.”

“Alright,” Cheng Mofei nodded seriously, “Then I won’t call the front desk.”

Shen Yu paused for a moment, then lowered his gaze, giving a soft hum.

So, it seemed like they wouldn’t even be separating the blankets.

That was good.

Cheng Mofei sat down next to Shen Yu on the bed, opened his phone, and said, “I’m a little hungry. Let’s order some late-night snacks.”

At Yanda University, after a certain hour, delivery drivers weren’t allowed to enter the campus.

The campus food court and some of the on-campus stores also closed at night. When they lived in the dorms before, they rarely had the chance to enjoy a hot, hearty late-night meal.

At most, they would just make some instant noodles.

Finally, they were staying outside for the night, so of course, Shen Yu wanted to make the most of the opportunity.

"Alright, what do you feel like eating?" Shen Yu leaned a little closer, resting his face against Cheng Mofei's shoulder.

Cheng Mofei, however, didn't seem to notice at all, as if he had long gotten used to this kind of contact.

"Fried chicken? I haven’t eated the barbecue and seafood around here lately," Cheng Mofei said, scrolling through a fried chicken restaurant's menu, looking at their meal sets.

"Sounds good. I’m in the mood for cola, but without ice," Shen Yu replied.

"Got it," Cheng Mofei added a regular cola with no ice and a cola with ice to the cart, then picked a fried chicken set.

While waiting for the delivery, Cheng Mofei initiated a video call in their dorm group chat and chatted for a while.

Soon, Xiao Xiong and Sun Xinghe appeared on the screen.

Cheng Mofei: "We were playing mahjong too late and missed curfew, so we’re staying at a hotel for the night."

Xiao Xiong leaned closer to the screen, "You should’ve said earlier! I would’ve gone out ahead of time and joined you guys. I’m craving late-night snacks..."

Cheng Mofei laughed, "How did you know I just ordered late-night snacks? The fried chicken and cola will be here soon."

"Bye," Xiao Xiong, irritated, hung up the phone immediately.

Sun Xinghe, also laughing, added, "Old Xiao worked out for over half an hour with his sister’s diet videos tonight, and ate a diet meal for dinner. This is exactly when he’s the most craving something. I’m afraid he’s going to be so hungry he’ll end up eating me in the middle of the night, and you’re provoking him like this."

Cheng Mofei gave a thumbs up, "Not bad. If he loses 30 pounds successfully, I’ll treat him to a big meal."

Xiao Xiong’s voice could be heard faintly from Sun Xinghe’s side, "I want to eat at the most expensive seafood buffet in Yancheng."

Cheng Mofei replied, "Alright, I’ll take you to the seaside to eat, no problem."

Though Yancheng wasn’t directly on the coast, the surrounding area had sea waters nearby, and it wasn’t far to travel. High-speed trains or driving were both convenient options.

Every year, Cheng Mofei would go with his family to the seaside for a few days to unwind.

In his past life, Shen Yu had also gone to the seaside with Cheng Mofei. Shen Yu was allergic to a certain type of shrimp, and that night he broke out in a rash all over his body.

They ended up going to the hospital in the middle of the night and had a lot of trouble getting things sorted out.

However, Shen Yu did really like the seaside.

The city he had lived in before was in the south, with only many freshwater rivers and no sea. His first time seeing the ocean was after he came to Yancheng. After receiving his first paycheck from his job here, he went to see the sea on his own.

He liked the salty smell of the sea, and he loved sitting on the beach, staring at the endless horizon, lost in thought.

After chatting casually in the dorm group for a while, the call ended, and Sun Xinghe continued his call with his girlfriend.

Cheng Mofei glanced at the delivery app and noticed that the food would arrive in just a few minutes.

He immediately stood up, "I’ll go downstairs to get it."

Fried chicken was best when it was hot and crispy. If he went down early, it wouldn’t be a big deal to wait a minute or two.

"Okay,"

Cheng Mofei walked to the far end of the hallway, took the elevator downstairs, and was surprised to see a familiar figure waiting below.

It was Tan Feng.

He had probably come down to wait for his delivery as well.

Tan Feng spotted Cheng Mofei, and there was a brief flicker of panic in his eyes, but it quickly disappeared as he regained his composure and greeted him, "Did you order late-night snacks?"

Cheng Mofei nodded, "I was craving fried chicken, so I ordered some. How about you?"

Tan Feng replied, "I just grabbed some random snacks from the supermarket... My delivery should be here soon."

Just then, a yellow delivery scooter stopped outside the hotel. The delivery person approached with a translucent plastic bag from the supermarket.

Tan Feng immediately strode over, his tall frame blocking the delivery person completely, eagerly asking, "Is that for Mr. Han?"

The delivery person glanced down at the bag, "Yes."

After confirming the phone number’s last digits, the delivery person handed him the bag.

Tan Feng quickly wrapped the bag in his arms and pretended to send Han Xuan a voice message on his phone, "Got the late-night snacks, I’m coming up now."

Tan Feng, after speaking, carefully glanced at Cheng Mofei, who was still standing there, and said, "I’ll head up first."

"Okay," Cheng Mofei nodded, not suspecting anything.

Soon enough, Cheng Mofei received the fried chicken and cola he had ordered for himself and Shen Yu. The delivery bag was large and heavy, clearly filled with plenty of food.

Cheng Mofei couldn’t help but think back to the small bag Tan Feng had received earlier.

Those two really didn’t order much. Would that be enough for them to feel full?
