"It was so scary... I just ran into Xiao Cheng downstairs while waiting for my takeout," Tan Feng said as he pulled a bag out from where he'd been hiding it and tore open the pack of condoms.
It was the flavor and type Tan Feng liked. Staying at the hotel tonight was unexpected, so they hadn’t brought anything like this with them.
They had no choice but to order some from a nearby convenience store.
It had been a while since they had been intimate. Since everything aligned perfectly tonight, they naturally wouldn’t let the opportunity slip away.
Han Xuan: "..."
Han Xuan: "He didn’t see it, did he? I was wondering why you suddenly sent me a weird voice message saying 'late-night snack is here'."
Tan Feng shook his head. "No, I hid it in my jacket. He definitely didn’t see it."
Han Xuan let out a sigh of relief. "That’s good."
For adults, sex wasn’t something shameful, but it was still a private matter—something to keep discreet, especially in front of friends.
Tan Feng quickly leaned in, planting a kiss on Han Xuan’s lips. At the same time, his hand mischievously slipped under Han Xuan’s shirt.
Han Xuan chuckled and gently pushed him away. "Turn off your phone first. I don’t want to be interrupted."
"Alright."
…
Returning to the room with their late-night snack, Cheng Mofei opened the box of fried chicken while recounting his encounter with Tan Feng downstairs to Shen Yu.
Shen Yu: "…"
When Cheng Mofei sighed about how little those two had ordered, Shen Yu closed his eyes in silent agony.
Was that really food they bought?
No need to think—of course, it wasn’t.
Not wanting to shatter Cheng Mofei’s innocence too brutally, Shen Yu chose to remain silent.
His original plan was to use this same-sex couple to gradually help Cheng Mofei get used to and accept same-sex relationships, but jumping straight to that was way too fast.
At nineteen, Cheng Mofei might enjoy making bold jokes now and then, but deep down, he was genuinely pure.
And he actually believed it was just snacks.
Shen Yu took a sip of Coke, smiling as he covered for the two again. "Eating too much at night isn’t good anyway. Just a little to satisfy a craving is enough."
Cheng Mofei nodded and handed him a disposable glove. "That’s true… but indulging once in a while doesn’t hurt. Once we’re back in the dorm, we won’t have this chance anymore."
Shen Yu put on the glove and eagerly picked up a piece of fried chicken, taking a big bite.
Crispy and fragrant on the outside, seasoned simply with spicy cumin powder, yet the meat inside remained tender and juicy.
Suddenly, Cheng Mofei grabbed his phone and said, "Hey, hold on, don’t eat yet. Let me take a picture to make the dorm group jealous."
Since they had already teased them over the phone earlier, he figured he might as well go all the way.
Shen Yu obediently held up the half-eaten piece of chicken, a hint of helpless amusement in his eyes.
No wonder, even years after graduation in their past life, Cheng Mofei remained close with those two.
Before long, a few voice messages popped up in Cheng Mofei’s chat—
"Don't even think about coming back tomorrow."
"I’m warning you, stop sending pics—your 'son' is still in the dorm."
"I'm so jealous I just rolled around on my bed twice."
Shen Yu couldn't help but laugh.
Cheng Mofei smugly replied, "Make sure to give my son extra food tomorrow morning," then turned off his phone.
He put on a disposable glove, picked up a piece of fried chicken, and took a big bite.
With his mouth still full, he mumbled, "Last year, I got sick for a while and couldn't taste anything. It was miserable. These two idiots kept stuffing their faces right in front of me. Hmph, I finally got my revenge."
Shen Yu licked his lips, smiling.
So childish. But kind of adorable.
After finishing their fried chicken and Coke, the two of them headed to the bathroom for a quick wash-up. They rinsed their faces, brushed their teeth, and washed their feet under the showerhead, skipping a full shower since neither had brought a change of clothes.
Lying in bed, they weren’t sleepy yet after their late-night snack. Since they had nothing important in the morning, they could afford to sleep in.
Out of nowhere, Cheng Mofei spoke up, “Wanna play a fun little bedtime game?”
Shen Yu’s heart skipped a beat. Even though he knew Cheng Mofei was still a "decent person" at this stage of his life, and whatever he meant by a bedtime game was surely innocent, he couldn’t help but feel his pulse quicken.
Cheng Mofei held up his phone, showing off a mahjong app. “Let’s play some mahjong on our phones.”
Shen Yu: “…”
He really was addicted.
Feeling both exasperated and amused, Shen Yu went ahead and downloaded the exact same mahjong app. Truthfully, he was getting hooked too.
While waiting for the download to finish, he saw Cheng Mofei open WeChat, search for a contact saved as "Tan Feng," and send a message:
[You two up for some mobile mahjong?]
Shen Yu: “…”
Shen Yu had initially wanted to stop him. After all, those two were probably still busy, but he couldn’t come up with a good enough excuse.
So, he could only watch helplessly as Cheng Mofei sent the message.
Luckily, Tan Feng never replied.
Cheng Mofei glanced at Shen Yu and said, “Do you think he hasn’t checked his phone? Maybe you should ask Han Xuan too.”
Shen Yu: “...What if they’re already asleep?”
Cheng Mofei hummed in agreement. “That’s possible. If Han Xuan doesn’t reply either, then we’ll just play by ourselves.”
Shen Yu sighed internally but still sent Han Xuan a similar message, secretly praying that both of them had their phones on silent.
One minute passed.
Two minutes passed.
By the time Shen Yu had finished downloading and registering for the mahjong app, neither of them had responded.
Cheng Mofei finally gave up. “Guess they’re really asleep. Alright, it’s just the two of us then.”
Shen Yu finally let out a breath of relief.
After adding each other as friends, they casually joined a random room and got serious about their mahjong match.
…
2:00 AM.
"Professor Shen, I’m officially bankrupt this time."
"President Cheng, it’s time to stop."
Both of their in-game accounts were completely wiped out, leaving them utterly broke.
Cheng Mofei almost reloaded money to buy more game tokens, but Shen Yu caught him just in time.
"Don’t get too addicted. Instead of spending money on this, let’s just pay for a real table next time and play with Tan Feng and Han Xuan."
Cheng Mofei looked guilty.
If Shen Yu ever found out how much he had already spent last night, he’d definitely get a serious scolding.
There was no helping it—the worse you were at a game, the more addicted you became.
Obediently, Cheng Mofei turned off his phone, ending their “thrilling bedtime game.”
Shen Yu had already tucked himself under the covers. "It’s late. Let’s sleep."
He also felt a bit hooked on the game, but after living two lives, his self-control was much stronger than nineteen-year-old Cheng Mofei’s.
"Alright." Cheng Mofei switched off the bedside lamp and lay down as well.
This was the first time they had ever shared a bed with just the two of them.
The feeling was quite novel.
In the vast, quiet room, the only sounds were their steady breaths.
Shen Yu found himself unable to fall asleep right away. Eyes closed, he simply listened to the sound of their breathing, lost in thought.
Cheng Mofei, on the other hand, drifted off almost instantly. Every time he slept beside Shen Yu, he always slept soundly.
At first, Cheng Mofei lay rigidly, keeping a respectable distance from Shen Yu. But once he fell asleep, that discipline vanished, he instinctively scooted closer, eventually clinging onto Shen Yu like a koala.
The sound of his breathing suddenly grew near, warm against Shen Yu’s ear.
Shen Yu chuckled softly in resignation and let himself be held, shifting slightly in Cheng Mofei’s arms until he found the most comfortable position.
He rarely stayed in hotels.
In his past life, his job never required him to travel, so he would stay in the lab.
But Cheng Mofei was different. When things got busy, he was always on the move—flying across the country in the morning, abroad in the afternoon, then rushing back at night.
His IP location jumped constantly. Before Shen Yu came into his life, he barely spent any time at home. His nights were either spent in hotels or at his company.
And back then, President Cheng would never have settled for a budget hotel.
That said, compared to their cramped dorm beds, the hotel bed felt spacious and soft.
At least here, they could stretch their arms and legs freely without bumping into each other—unlike in the cramped dorms.
Tonight was bound to be a good night’s sleep.
…
At some unknown hour, Cheng Mofei groggily woke up, feeling suffocated.
Turns out, he had once again wrapped himself around Shen Yu like a human pillow.
Guilt crept in as he carefully peeled himself away, making sure not to wake him.
Luckily, Shen Yu’s breathing remained steady, he hadn’t noticed.
Cheng Mofei was just about to sneak out of bed and head to the bathroom when he suddenly heard a faint murmur.
It was so soft that If they were back in the dorm, he might not have caught it at all. But here, in the absolute silence of the hotel room, even the tiniest sound was amplified.
"Xiao Chengzi..."
It was Shen Yu’s voice.
Cheng Mofei froze mid-step and turned back to the bed.
Shen Yu was still fast asleep.
Was he… talking in his sleep?
Xiao Chengzi?
Who was that?
TL: Xiao Chengzi aka Little Orange
