Brother, you smell good - 65

There were two elective classes in total, and right now, it was only the break after the first class. The classroom was like a boiling kettle, buzzing with noise.

Shen Yu stared at the two new messages he had just received on his phone, so shocked that he couldn’t recover for a long time.

He repeatedly confirmed that the person on the other end of the chat was Cheng Mofei—checking the contact name, the profile card, and even the Moments feed. It was indeed Cheng Mofei, without a doubt.

Cheng Mofei said that he felt like he might not be straight.

That was great. Cheng Mofei was finally starting to question his own sexual orientation.

But how did he suddenly come to this conclusion?

Shen Yu took a deep breath, trying to stay calm amidst the noisy classroom.

Could it be that last night’s film was so intense that it directly "bent" Cheng Mofei? Made him realize that he was actually deeply closeted?

…That was way too unexpected.

He had thought he would need to guide him for a while longer. He even spent an entire class thinking about how to do it. If he had known it would be this easy, he would have just paid attention in class instead.

Shen Yu snapped back to reality and couldn't wait to ask: 【Why do you say that?】

The other side quickly showed "Typing..."

Not long after, a new message popped up: 【After watching that film last night, my body reacted a little, and I even had a dream about it. Straight guys wouldn’t react like this… right?】

So it really was the film’s doing.

Shen Yu was overjoyed: 【Hmm… yeah, straight guys wouldn’t react like that.】

Afraid that his answer sounded too purposeful, he softened his tone and tactfully added:

【But it’s not absolute. Just like how people instinctively salivate when they see bayberries, but not everyone actually likes eating them—some are indifferent, and some even dislike them. To fully determine your sexual orientation, you need to verify it in multiple ways.】

Of course, even after thorough verification, the answer wouldn’t change.

Cheng Mofei thought to himself that Shen Yu really didn’t believe he had suddenly turned gay. He carefully picked a few crying hamster stickers and spammed them: 【Really? I feel so lost… Can you keep me company tonight?】

Of course.

Shen Yu replied: 【No problem. After this class, let’s go out for a walk, grab some good food, and clear your mind. We’ll figure things out, don’t stress too much.】

Cheng Mofei: 【Okay.】

Putting down his phone, Cheng Mofei quickly changed into going-out clothes and crouched in front of the hamster cage, playing with the little hamster for a while, all the while staying ready to pick up Shen Yu after class.

He needed to act confused, aggrieved, and a little scared—this way, Shen Yu would feel bad for him and spend more time with him.

At the very least, he was going to monopolize Shen Yu for the entire night, making sure he had no time to contact that other man.

This was the advantage of being the one closest to him.

Finally, the dismissal bell rang. Shen Yu followed the crowd out of the classroom, only to spot a familiar figure standing by the door.

His steps unconsciously quickened as he made his way toward that person.

Because of what had happened the night before, Cheng Mofei couldn't help feeling a little awkward facing Shen Yu. He didn’t even know where to put his hands. Thankfully, he was wearing thick clothes with big pockets, so he could just stuff them inside.

Shen Yu simply assumed this was a normal reaction to having his sexual orientation shaken and didn’t think too much about it.

Most straight guys who started realizing they might not be that straight went through a phase like this. It was a huge shift in self-perception, accepting it right away wasn’t realistic.

Let alone someone like Cheng Mofei, who had even been homophobic for a time.

"Let’s go," Shen Yu said.

"Okay." Cheng Mofei had no idea where they were heading, so he just obediently followed Shen Yu.

Shen Yu led him all the way out of the school, to the subway station, and onto Line 2.

It was rush hour, and the subway was packed with people. There was no chance of getting a seat, so the two of them found a corner and squeezed in.

Not having a seat wasn’t a big deal, but being crammed together with a crowd was exhausting. Cheng Mofei carefully positioned himself to shield Shen Yu from the people pressing in, though he tried not to make it too obvious.

After a few stops, Shen Yu still showed no sign of preparing to get off. Unable to hold back his curiosity, Cheng Mofei asked, “Where… are we going?”

“You’ll find out soon.” Shen Yu smiled mysteriously, refusing to give anything away.

Cheng Mofei felt an itch of anticipation but had no choice but to go along with it. As long as he was with Shen Yu, it didn’t really matter where they went.

The subway carried them all the way to the last stop.

As soon as the train doors opened, most passengers quickly exited the carriage.

As they walked out, Cheng Mofei glanced around and asked, “Are we leaving at this stop?”

Shen Yu shook his head, took a turn, and stepped onto the escalator. “We’re transferring to Line 10.”

And so, the two of them stepped into the carriage of Line 10.

This line passed through some of the more remote areas of Yancheng, with a much lower passenger flow. It wasn’t a place university students usually visited for fun. Even Cheng Mofei, a native of Yancheng, had rarely taken Line 10 before.

Fortunately, this subway wasn’t crowded, and they found seats. This time, they didn’t ride all the way to the last stop.

At one of the middle stations, Shen Yu suddenly grabbed Cheng Mofei’s sleeve and led him off the train.

The moment they stepped out of the carriage, Cheng Mofei felt a hand slip into his and fingers lacing tightly between his own.

Startled, he turned in disbelief to look at the owner of that hand.

Shen Yu met his gaze with a calm expression, answering the unspoken question in his eyes. "Didn’t you want to figure out your sexual orientation?"

Cheng Mofei mumbled a soft "Yeah…", though he couldn’t quite understand what holding hands, especially in such an intimate way, had to do with it.

And not just any hand-holding, but this… slightly ambiguous kind.

Crap. His heart was starting to race again.

Shen Yu lifted their intertwined hands slightly and spoke slowly, “I’ll help you. Tonight, I’ll play the role of your ‘boyfriend.’ You can experience it firsthand, if you find that you can’t accept being in a relationship with another guy, then you’re straight. But if you can, then you’re probably not.”

This was the idea Shen Yu had come up with during his last class.

His inspiration came from some videos he had seen online around Halloween. Certain amusement parks had introduced a “rent-a-boyfriend” service for their spooky night events.

They hired tall, attractive, and well-built guys to wear designated outfits and accompany guests for a sense of security.

Similarly, he had also heard about some universities hosting “one-week couple” activities to help students find potential partners. The matched participants would complete couple-themed tasks together, it was not overly intimate, but still akin to real dating experiences.

So why not apply the same idea here?

By acting as Cheng Mofei’s temporary boyfriend, he could help him explore his feelings while also deepening their bond. It was a win-win.

Cheng Mofei was utterly shocked, blurting out, "Is that really possible?"

Was he dreaming? Was Shen Yu really going to play the role of his boyfriend?

This felt exactly like something that would only happen in his dreams…

No wonder Shen Yu had brought him to such a remote area, so they wouldn’t run into anyone they knew.

"Of course," Shen Yu replied casually, already prepared for any doubts or hesitations Cheng Mofei might have. He had even thought of a perfect excuse. "Back then, Xiangzi helped me verify my orientation the same way."

Using himself as an example made it sound much more convincing.

Cheng Mofei: "…"

His heart, which had been fluttering with excitement, nearly burst from frustration instead.

How could someone be this cunning?!

Shen Yu still naively thought that the other person was doing this purely to help him verify his orientation…

But Cheng Mofei, now thoroughly annoyed, tightened his grip and reversed the hand-holding, gritting his teeth as he declared, "Let’s go. We’re going on a date."

Not far away, a figure wearing a baseball cap and a mask wobbled slightly, nearly tripping over his own feet.

Ning Que had noticed these two ever since they were on Line 2.

He had finally found some free time tonight and originally planned to take the subway to a nearby lounge bar for a drink. But then, by chance, he spotted some familiar faces in the train.

Cheng Mofei had been carefully shielding Shen Yu from the crowded passengers, acting incredibly considerate. They occasionally exchanged a few words, but most of their communication seemed to be through eye contact, something about the atmosphere between them felt strangely off.

Curious, Ning Que initially just wanted to see which station they would get off at, so he held back from exiting the train. But to his surprise, the two of them rode all the way to the last stop.

Forced to disembark, he suddenly realized they weren’t leaving the station but were instead transferring to Line 10.

That baffled him even more.

He couldn’t think of anything particularly fun along Line 10, what were these two even doing here?

Since he had already followed them this far, he figured he might as well see where they would get off next.

Finally, the two of them exited the train at a station near a shopping mall.

Instinctively, Ning Que got up and followed. Keeping his distance, he watched as they walked out, fingers interlocked.

He didn’t dare get too close, so he couldn’t hear much of their conversation.

But then—

"Let’s go. We’re going on a date."

Cheng Mofei’s voice was loud enough that it was impossible not to hear.

These two were definitely together!

He knew it!
