| BYSG | To Cheng Mofei | 72
Shen Yu had been busy these past few days preparing an orange peel bouquet for Cheng Mofei. It wasn’t easy to make, but fortunately, he was quite skilled with his hands.
After some careful trial and error, he managed to complete it successfully.
It carried a faint citrus fragrance—something Cheng Mofei would surely like.
Since Cheng Mofei wasn’t fond of love letters, Shen Yu didn’t prepare one. However, he felt that just an orange peel bouquet alone seemed too shabby, so he also bought a small orange-flavored cake.
Although he was fairly confident in his chances, a sudden confession might still catch Cheng Mofei off guard, and he might not agree right away. In that case, they could at least enjoy the cake together and have a proper conversation.
Sugar stimulates the release of dopamine in the brain, creating a sense of happiness. That’s why eating sweets can improve one’s mood.
With a good mood, many things tend to go more smoothly.
The operation to win him over had officially begun!
But… what was happening right now?
What did he mean by being with some wild man?
What was Cheng Mofei talking about? Shen Yu couldn’t understand at all.
He looked utterly confused.
"Did you misunderstand something…?"
Misunderstanding?
Even now, Shen Yu still wouldn’t tell him the truth?
Or was he actually trying to defend that wild man?
Cheng Mofei’s chest rose and fell rapidly, a sense of powerlessness spreading through his entire body. Out of the corner of his eye, he suddenly caught sight of the small cake on the table, as if he had just grasped onto something crucial.
Ha. There was even a little card on top of the cake.
The card wasn’t fixed in place. Cheng Mofei grabbed it directly, lowering his head to scan it with a fierce glare.
The evidence was undeniable.
Let’s see how Shen Yu was going to explain himself now.
On the card, handwritten, was...
It said—"To Cheng Mofei"!
So it really was meant for that wild ma—wait.
?
??
?????
Cheng Mofei’s expression instantly turned into that of a dumbfounded little puppy.
Wait.
Cheng Mofei?
For the first time in his life, his own name felt strangely unfamiliar.
Why was his name on it?
Was this cake… meant for him?
His birthday wasn’t coming up yet, so why was Shen Yu suddenly giving him a cake?
A ridiculous thought struck him, making his heart race at an unprecedented speed.
Shen Yu, now realizing what was going on, raised an eyebrow. Without hesitation, he took control of the situation, flipping the script: "So, you figured out I was preparing to confess to someone?"
Cheng Mofei met his gaze for a fleeting moment before quickly looking back down at the card in his hands. He pressed his lips together, too guilty to respond.
Shen Yu had finally admitted it himself—he was confessing. But instead of feeling triumphant, Cheng Mofei suddenly felt… nervous.
Shen Yu stepped forward, amused. "Who did you think I was going to confess to?"
Cheng Mofei instinctively took a step back.
"A wild man?" Shen Yu answered for him.
Cheng Mofei staggered back again—only to abruptly hit the cabinet behind him.
There was nowhere left to run.
Shen Yu immediately propped one arm up, pinning Cheng Mofei against the cabinet. With a swift motion, he snatched the card from his hands.
The card bore Cheng Mofei’s full name—written by Shen Yu himself.
All of Cheng Mofei’s earlier aggression vanished in an instant. Now, he looked more like a bullied little wife, especially with his disheveled appearance from having taken a fall in the snow. It made the scene even more fitting.
Shen Yu flipped the card around, making sure the side with the name faced Cheng Mofei. Then, with deliberate mischief, he asked, “Guess what the wild man’s name is?”
Cheng Mofei’s blood boiled in his veins.
The almost unbelievable thought in his head was now all but confirmed.
The person Shen Yu wanted to confess to… was actually him?!
How could it be him?!
Seeing that his plan had worked, Shen Yu calmly placed the card back on the cake. Then, he turned and reached into the depths of the cabinet, pulling out a handmade bouquet crafted from orange peels.
He stepped in front of Cheng Mofei, tilting his head slightly as he gazed up at him.
"You said you don’t like love letters or fresh flowers, so I prepared a cake and an orange peel bouquet instead."
This was the opening line Shen Yu had rehearsed countless times.
Cheng Mofei suddenly felt like he had shot himself in the foot.
If he had known all along that Shen Yu was going to confess to him, he never would have put on that act and said those ridiculous things.
What was that about just sending a message to notify someone of a confession? If he hadn’t rushed back, would Shen Yu have really just sent him a casual text about it?
And what was that about love letters being too cheesy? He would love to receive a love letter from Shen Yu, the cheesier, the better.
And fresh flowers being bad because of spray paint? Come on, was a bouquet really going to poison him?
Don’t ask. If you did, the answer was simple—regret. Deep, overwhelming regret.
Luckily… luckily, there was still the orange peel bouquet.
Cheng Mofei eagerly took it, unable to hide the delight in his eyes. The orange peels had been carefully layered, shaped into delicate little flowers, their warm hue vibrant and inviting. It was beautiful.
He had only made that comment out of spite back then, never expecting Shen Yu to actually take it to heart and create something like this for him.
The feeling of being held in such high regard was utterly intoxicating.
Cheng Mofei felt like he was floating on clouds.
Being confessed to by Shen Yu was the greatest blessing in the world.
Shen Yu treated him so well… he had to treat Shen Yu even better in return.
Shen Yu, noticing the bouquet being accepted with such enthusiasm, felt his confidence rise even further.
Just as he was about to continue his grand confession, Cheng Mofei suddenly blurted out, "I have something for you too."
Then, without waiting for a response, he spun around and hurried back to his seat.
He hadn’t even considered that there might be more to Shen Yu’s confession—after all, according to his own brilliant theory, just sending a quick message should have been enough.
For Shen Yu to say this much already had far exceeded his expectations.
Before Shen Yu could fully process what was happening, a love letter and a fortune pouch were suddenly placed in his hands.
Meanwhile, Cheng Mofei was still clutching the orange peel bouquet, hastily dialing a phone number. The moment the call connected, he spoke urgently, “Yes, Mr. Cheng’s flowers—send them over immediately, as fast as possible. Money is not an issue.”
Shen Yu: "…?"
Ten minutes later, Shen Yu had finished reading through the extra-long love letter, and the flowers had arrived.
Cheng Mofei wasted no time shoving the massive bouquet into Shen Yu’s arms, quickly explaining, “I arranged these myself, they are fresh flowers, no spray paint, completely safe.”
Shen Yu dazedly accepted the enormous bouquet, still in a state of disbelief.
—How had his confession to Cheng Mofei suddenly turned into Cheng Mofei’s confession to him?
Originally, he had only assumed that Cheng Mofei figured out his intentions because of his bold hints that day, or maybe because of the way he’d been acting “a little off” while preparing the orange peel bouquet.
Anyone with a brain would have been suspicious.
At worst, maybe he had actually let something slip that night when he was drunk.
But what Shen Yu hadn’t expected was that Cheng Mofei had completely misunderstood, thinking he had fallen for someone else—and had been secretly sulking over it for a long time.
The love letter didn’t just express how much Cheng Mofei liked him; a significant portion of it was dedicated to analyzing how unreliable that ‘wild man’ was.
Between the lines, it was clear that Cheng Mofei was practically begging him to give up on that so-called ‘wild man,’ dripping with jealousy.
Little did he know—he was the wild man himself.
Shen Yu was both shocked and amused.
How could someone like Cheng Mofei be this adorable?
The bouquet of flowers was quite heavy, and after holding it for a while, Shen Yu’s arms began to ache. He carefully placed it on his desk.
Meanwhile, Cheng Mofei was still clutching the orange peel bouquet like a treasure, completely unwilling to put it down.
He gazed at Shen Yu expectantly and hesitantly asked, “Since we’ve both confessed… does this mean we’re officially a couple now?”
Shen Yu hummed in agreement, too embarrassed to mention that his confession had only just begun before Cheng Mofei completely hijacked it.
No matter how it happened, the goal had been achieved—loving each other in this lifetime was truly a blessing.
Cheng Mofei suddenly asked, “Don’t you still have another gift for me?”
“Huh?” Shen Yu was momentarily confused, not sure what gift Cheng Mofei was referring to.
Cheng Mofei glanced toward Shen Yu’s wardrobe, silently hinting at something.
Shen Yu immediately realized the underwear.
“You saw that box of underwear?”
Cheng Mofei let out an awkward "Mm."
Before, he had never even considered that it could be for him. But thinking back now… it was exactly his size.
No wonder Cheng Mofei had been so jealous and misunderstood everything so badly. Anyone would have been upset.
Without hesitation, Shen Yu grabbed the box of underwear and stuffed it directly into Cheng Mofei’s wardrobe.
“I’ll wear them tonight,” Cheng Mofei said, grinning like a fool.
“Wash them first, then wear them.” Shen Yu couldn’t help but feel a bit helpless at the situation.
Cheng Mofei almost wanted to wash them right away, thinking that with the heating on, maybe he could wear them by tonight. But he couldn’t bear to put down the orange peel bouquet or leave Shen Yu's side.
There were still so many things he wanted to say to Shen Yu, and even more questions he wanted to ask him...
Suddenly, something clicked in Cheng Mofei’s mind, and he furrowed his brows. He looked up and said, “Wait, there’s something I don’t understand.”
“What?” Shen Yu tilted his head, curious.
“Why did your Moments say ‘the person I’ve liked for so many years’?” At this point, Cheng Mofei figured there was no need to hide all the little things he had been doing in secret.
After saying that, Cheng Mofei recalled some scenes from movies and speculated, “Also, what’s significant about December 6th? Could it be that we knew each other before?”
He understood that "little orange" was the nickname Shen Yu secretly gave him, and the orange-scented shower gel was indeed something he liked. It might have just been a misunderstanding.
But the phrases “so many years” and “12/6” didn’t make sense. He felt like there was something hidden behind them—some kind of story he couldn’t grasp.
Shen Yu paused for a moment, knowing this day would come eventually. He had never thought about hiding or avoiding it. Taking a deep breath, he softly asked, “Do you believe in past lives?”
Cheng Mofei hadn’t expected that question. His throat involuntarily tightened, and his expression became more serious. After thinking for a moment, he answered, “Honestly, I don’t believe in those things.”
He occasionally went to get his fortune told, but it wasn’t out of superstition. He believed in willpower and human effort over fate or past lives.
When Shen Yu heard this, his heart sank.
It was expected, really. Who would believe in such things?
If it were him, he wouldn’t believe it either. It was too absurd.
But the next moment, Cheng Mofei suddenly raised his hand and gently cupped Shen Yu's cheek. The distance between them shrank to nothing, and there was a glimmer in his eyes, like stars had fallen into them.
“But I believe in you.”
