The Evil Cub Surrounded by Reborn Ones - 66

TECSBRO | 66 | Lu Xu Reborn | 01

In the morning, Qi Sui got up early as usual, hoping to escape the house before Rong Que could catch him.

To his surprise, as soon as he stepped into the hallway, he saw the door to Lu Xu's room open.

But since he and Lu Xu were in cahoots, it wasn't a big deal...

Wait, Rong Que?

Qi Sui froze in place, staring at Rong Que standing at the doorway in his pajamas.

His brain short-circuited.

Wasn't this guest room supposed to be Lu Xu's? Had Rong Que already started sharing a bed with Lu Xu's fake identity?

Wouldn't Lu Xu be upset?

Rong Que glanced at Qi Sui and said, "You seem to have a lot of questions."

Qi Sui's mind raced, and he stammered, "Are you and my cousin....together?"

"No," Rong Que replied without hesitation.

Qi Sui's brain continued to spin. "So, are you two... just bed buddies?"

"I'm with Xiao Lu," Rong Que said, not bothering to explain further. He directly revealed that he had known all along that Qi Zhao was actually Lu Xu.

Qi Sui's expression paused for a few seconds, as if he finally understood what had happened.

Then he breathed a sigh of relief. "That's great. I don't have to hide outside every day anymore."

Rong Que didn't plan to blame Qi Sui either, as it had been Lu Xu's own request.

Qi Sui had just been playing along.

But Qi Sui truly didn't dare lie in front of Rong Que, which meant the plan had been doomed to fail from the start.

Rong Que had come downstairs to get breakfast for Lu Xu, who was already awake but too tired to move after yesterday's events.

After breakfast, Lu Xu wanted to rest for a while and then go to school with Rong Que.

Seeing this, Qi Sui went back to his room to catch some more sleep.

After finishing breakfast, Rong Que and Lu Xu changed their clothes and headed out.

Lu Xu was in a great mood because the two of them had confessed their feelings to each other the night before.

Moreover, Rong Que had seriously told him in the morning that he would handle things with the special department and that it wouldn't affect their lives.

Lu Xu swung Rong Que's hand as they walked, remembering how they used to walk like this when they were kids.

It didn't feel much different from before they got together.

Lu Xu frowned, wondering how couples usually interacted.

After getting into the car, Lu Xu searched for some couple vlogs on his phone. Hmm, it didn't seem much different from how they were.

Suddenly, Lu Xu remembered something and asked Xiao Er to stop by the mall before heading to school.

Rong Que didn't know what Lu Xu was up to, but since Lu Xu was back, he could accompany him wherever he wanted.

At the mall, Lu Xu retracted his ears and tied up his long hair to blend in with ordinary humans, then headed straight to the men's clothing store.

Ever since he gained the ability to control his appearance, many things had become much more convenient.

Without hesitation, Lu Xu dragged Rong Que into a store he often visited.

The clothes there had subtle designs without being too flashy.

Rong Que thought Lu Xu just wanted to buy clothes, so he followed along to help him pick.

Lu Xu spotted a large, cozy fleece hoodie that looked versatile and casual.

He held it up against himself and asked, "How does it look?"

"Good," Rong Que replied, his eyes filled with dotting.

Lu Xu picked out a red-and-white plaid one for himself, which suited him well.

Then he grabbed a green-and-white plaid one for Rong Que. "You wear this."

Rong Que looked at the obviously matching outfit and teased, "Didn't Xiao Lu want me to have independent taste and not buy the same things as you?"

Lu Xu knew Rong Que was referring to the time before elementary school when they bought backpacks.

His face flushed slightly, and he pouted, "You're so petty, remembering such things. This is a couple's outfit, don't you get it, old man?"

"Yes, I remember everything about Xiao Lu," Rong Que said calmly, as if he were talking about what to have for lunch.

It was precisely this kind of understated yet meaningful remark that made Lu Xu feel overwhelmed.

Lu Xu couldn't resist Rong Que's way of speaking.

He rubbed his face, tossed the clothes into Rong Que's arms, and told him to go pay.

The two of them directly put on their newly bought couple's outfits over their clothes, left their old clothes in the car, and headed to Rong Que's school.

After all, most university students live on campus, but since it was the weekend and there were no classes, the campus wasn't very crowded except during meal times.

Being a prestigious school, the campus was well-greened.

The two sat by the lake for a while, and Lu Xu quietly savored the place where Rong Que usually lived, a satisfied smile tugging at his lips.

Lu Xu slowly leaned his head on Rong Que's shoulder, "I really hope we can always be like this."

Rong Que raised his hand to stroke Lu Xu's hair, "We will."

It was autumn and winter, so sitting for too long made them feel a bit cold.

They got up and decided to warm up in the cafeteria.

Rong Que took Lu Xu's slightly cold hand and placed it in his own coat pocket.

Lu Xu could feel that Rong Que's hand wasn't very warm either, especially after being chilled by his own.

He silently activated his special ability, warming his own hand and, by extension, Rong Que's as well.

Rong Que chuckled, "You've mastered quite a few abilities now."

Lu Xu raised his chin proudly, "I wouldn't use them for anything bad."

"Yes, Xiao Lu has always been good," Rong Que affirmed.

The cafeteria entrance had thick windproof curtains installed for the winter.

Pushing them open, the temperature inside was a world apart from the outside.

Lu Xu even felt a bit hot and quickly deactivated his ability.

Since it wasn't meal time yet, Rong Que went to the nearby bakery and bought a cup of milk tea and a small cake for Lu Xu to snack on.

Lu Xu happily took bites and sips, his little obsessive-compulsive habits still the same as when he was a child.

Seeing Rong Que smile, Lu Xu paused and looked at him with a hint of worry, "Am I too childish for still loving snacks like this even though I'm so grown up?"

"Not at all," Rong Que said, "Xiao Lu can do whatever he likes."

Lu Xu nodded in satisfaction, expressing his agreement.

When it was time to eat, the weekend crowd was sparse, and since they had arrived early, there was no need to queue.

Rong Que got a few dishes that Lu Xu loved, and the two ate together.

Halfway through their meal, a plate was suddenly placed across from them.

Rong Que looked up and saw it was his roommate.

The roommate had spotted Rong Que's couple's outfit from afar and thought Rong Que had finally gotten a girlfriend, he intended to tease him a bit. But to his surprise, sitting next to Rong Que was a young boy.

The roommate hesitated for a moment before saying, "Hey, your friend looks a lot like that..."

After struggling for a while, he finally got it out, "He looks like that super popular child model internet celebrity from before."

"But that internet celebrity had red eyes, which were super distinctive."

Lu Xu smiled quite naturally, as if he really wasn't the person in question. "Really? A lot of people say I look like him."

His roommate nodded. "Yeah, he's super cute, but he hasn't been active much lately. Back then, some people even suspected he wore colored contact lenses since he was a kid."

Lu Xu drew out an "Oh," sounding genuinely interested.

The roommate, who was quite outgoing, chatted with Lu Xu for a while about how amazing that child model was, then sighed and said, "I wonder if he grow up well. I haven't seen him active since he became an adult."

"Probably not. You think I look like him, so maybe he grew up to be similar," Lu Xu found it amusing to tease Rong Que's roommate.

The roommate nodded in agreement. "You're really good-looking. Honestly, the two of you sitting together is quite a sight."

Lu Xu asked curiously, "Is Rong Que popular at your school?"

Rong Que lightly tapped Lu Xu with his chopsticks. Lu Xu leisurely turned his head and gave Rong Que a fleeting glance.

The roommate felt there was something odd about their interaction, but being thick-skinned, he didn't notice anything unusual.

He exaggeratedly described how popular Rong Que was. "You have no idea, our confession wall is filled with people looking for him every day."

"Before? Why not anymore?" Lu Xu caught the key word.

The roommate smiled mysteriously. "It's not that they stopped looking; it's just that everyone knows now. Every time someone looks for him, someone replies in the comments."

Lu Xu pouted, seeming a bit unhappy. "He's that popular, huh?"

"Absolutely. Rong Que doesn't like adding strangers on WeChat, so all those girls try to get us roommates to add them instead," the roommate said proudly.

"Stop exaggerating," Rong Que interrupted, already noticing that Lu Xu wasn't too pleased.

Lu Xu smiled ambiguously. "Go on."

The roommate once again felt that something was off.

Rong Que was usually the aloof and composed idol in front of them, but he seemed different around this young man.

The roommate took out his phone, opened WeChat, and clicked on a tag called "Nest."

He scrolled through the tag, but it seemed endless.

The roommate said smugly, "See? The 'Nest' is full of Rong Que's fangirls. There are so many, at least a hundred or two."

Lu Xu glanced at Rong Que again.

Rong Que said seriously, "Delete them all. I already have a partner."

"That's not possible..." The roommate instinctively refused, then stood up in shock. "What??"

"You have a partner and didn't tell us!!" The roommate was so agitated that his voice rose.

Rong Que calmly swallowed the food in his mouth. "I just got together with them last night."

Hearing that Rong Que was the one who pursued the other person, the roommate's curiosity outweighed his anger, and he immediately sat down. "Wow, what kind of beauty made you pursue them personally?"

Rong Que looked at Lu Xu. "Right here."

Lu Xu watched the roommate's shocked expression with amusement, then said, "Are you disappointed?"

The roommate quickly waved his hands. "No, no, you two really do look good together. Why haven't I seen you come to visit Rong Que before?"

Rong Que answered for him, "Lu Xu just returned to the country. He graduated early."

The roommate could sense that Rong Que was showing off her precious boyfriend, so she playfully took out her phone and said, "I'll post on my Moments that you're officially off the market. That way, those girls won't keep hoping anymore."

After posting, everyone continued with their meal.

However, the roommate's phone kept buzzing every few seconds.

She checked it and saw that everyone was asking if it was true, with some even speculating if it was the department beauty who had been pursuing Rong Que before.

Since Lu Xu was the one Rong Que had chosen, the roommate naturally didn’t like seeing everyone guessing wildly. So, under the post announcing Rong Que’s relationship status, he commented, "His partner just returned from abroad. No need to speculate—it’s not someone you know."

By Sunday night, it was time to return to campus, but since Lu Xu had just come back, the two of them rented a long-term suite nearby.

Lu Xu set up a space for painting, planning to take on some freelance work.

Monday morning had an 8 a.m. class, so Rong Que didn’t wake Lu Xu and went straight there.

When Lu Xu woke up and found himself alone in the room, he checked his phone and saw a message from Rong Que.

Breakfast was still warm, left in the kitchen.

After eating, Lu Xu asked Rong Que what his next class was and if he could join.

Rong Que replied, asking him to wait a moment.

Lu Xu happily waited.

Soon, Rong Que came back to pick up Lu Xu for the next class.

They sat together, and it happened to be a film appreciation class.

After the teacher finished the lecture, the movie started playing.

It wasn’t too bad.

After class, like any other campus couple, they went to the cafeteria for lunch and then returned for a nap.

Lu Xu really enjoyed this simple, peaceful feeling.

He also loved lying on the couch in the evening, watching TV with Rong Que, resting his legs on his knees, and directing him to prepare fruit and feed it to him.

Rong Que seemed to have endless energy, always taking good care of Lu Xu.

Lu Xu occasionally felt guilty and would massage Rong Que’s shoulders, but often he’d get tired before him, and he’d end up massaging him instead.

The two had been close since childhood and are deeply familiar with each other.

After getting together, they rarely had any conflicts or arguments.

When Lu Xu got tired from painting, he thought about how Rong Que had massaged his shoulders for a long time the night before, so he opened his phone and searched for cooking tutorials, planning to surprise him.

He ordered the ingredients and, once they arrived, started cooking in the kitchen following the tutorial.

Lu Xu wasn’t very skilled with a knife, so he was extra careful to avoid cutting himself.

But the meat was too slippery, and he ended up nicking his finger.

He hissed in pain, then tearfully took a photo, planning to exaggerate it a bit and act pitiful when Rong Que returned.

But the next moment, Lu Xu felt a surge of electricity run through his body, leaving him numb and weak.

Then he watched as the knife in his hand dropped, and his body seemed to move on its own, squeezing his hand.

Lu Xu saw himself heal the bleeding wound on his finger, and then, as if suddenly noticing the bloody knife, he opened his hand toward it.

In the next moment, the knife turned into a pile of ash.

When Rong Que opened the door and came home, she saw Lu Xu sitting in front of the TV, watching it as usual.

But for some reason, his posture seemed a bit stiff, as if he wasn’t sitting naturally.

Did he blow up the kitchen again?

Rong Que thought with amusement as she changed her shoes and called out, "What do you feel like eating, Xiao Lu? I’ll make it for you."

Lu Xu turned his head, his eyes wide open, his face wearing an innocent yet somewhat vacant expression. His blood-red eyes seemed different from usual.

It was hard to pinpoint what was strange.

It felt somewhat unfamiliar.

Lu Xu seemed to be observing him, then slowly said, "Anything is fine."

Rong Que sensed a clear sense of dissonance.

He walked into the kitchen and unexpectedly saw half-prepared ingredients, with Lu Xu's phone placed beside them.

And a trace of ash next to the cutting board.

It was too bizarre.

Rong Que looked around and noticed the kitchen knife was missing.

A eerie feeling spread throughout Rong Que's body.

He picked up Lu Xu's phone. He had always known the password but never looked through it casually.

But the current situation didn't allow him to think about such things anymore.

When Rong Que opened the phone, it was on the camera interface.

He frowned, then tapped on the latest photo in the bottom left corner.

It was a photo Lu Xu had taken himself, showing his left index finger bleeding, clearly from accidentally cutting himself while chopping vegetables.

At that time, the kitchen knife was still beside the cutting board, with a bit of blood on it.

So, what had happened after Lu Xu cut himself with the knife?

Now, the pile of ash was exactly where the knife had been.

Lu Xu wouldn't get so angry just from a small cut.

At that moment, Rong Que suddenly felt an intense, terrifying presence behind him.

He turned around and saw Lu Xu almost pressed against his back.

Lu Xu gave a stiff smile, "What are you looking at?"

Rong Que turned off the phone screen, "I was thinking about what to cook for you with these ingredients."

"Oh, okay." Lu Xu glanced at his phone in Rong Que's hand.

He didn't seem to recognize it as his own.

Because both of their phones were the same model with the same case.

Lu Xu turned and walked out the door.

Rong Que breathed a sigh of relief.

Lu Xu had completely appeared behind him without opening the door.

And he had been completely silent.

If it weren't for the overwhelming aura of the evil god, he wouldn't have noticed.

Rong Que deleted the photo from the phone and put it away.

He pondered the reason for Lu Xu's strange behavior.

It felt almost as terrifying as the Lu Xu from his past life.

Had Lu Xu regained his memories from his past life?

But regaining memories shouldn't result in such a reaction.

He didn't even recognize his own phone.

It was more like the Lu Xu from his past life was standing right in front of him.

But if it were simply the Lu Xu from his past life, why hadn't he destroyed the place or attacked Rong Que?

Perhaps there was only one answer.

The Lu Xu from his past life had taken over Little Lu's body and shared his memories.

Rong Que's eyes darkened. He had no feelings whatsoever for the Lu Xu from his past life.

If anything, it was pure hatred.

Rong Que didn't know what the Lu Xu from his past life—perhaps he should call him the evil god—was trying to do by forcibly pretending to be Lu Xu. He could only pretend not to notice and start cooking.

He didn't dare imagine what would happen if he provoked the other party. In a world where all supernaturals were underdeveloped, how quickly would the world be destroyed?

Rong Que still prepared a few dishes that Lu Xu liked.

During this time, every time he moved around the kitchen, he could feel the evil god watching him out of the corner of his eye.

This feeling of being closely monitored was uncomfortable.

Rong Que finished cooking, placed the dishes on plates, and carried them out, saying, "Come and eat."

The evil god responded with a "yes" and then walked over, sitting in the spot where Lu Xu usually sat.

Rong Que silently took a seat across from him.

Even if it was Lu Xu's own body, Rong Que didn’t want the evil god to have too much contact with it.

After sitting down, the evil god seemed to realize that this was different from the usual scenario in his memory where they always sat side by side. He looked up and asked, "Brother Rong Que, why aren’t you sitting next to me?"

Rong Que paused for a moment, thinking about how to respond.

"I smell like cooking oil, I don’t want to bother you," Rong Que’s excuse was somewhat forced.

"Brother Rong Que, sit next to me and feed me," the evil god seemed to be trying to act cute, though his expression couldn’t quite match the natural charm of Lu Xu.

Perhaps, as the evil god, Lu Xu had never acted cute or even smiled before.

This awkward expression on Lu Xu’s face was somewhat unsettling, and Rong Que couldn’t understand why the evil god insisted on him sitting so close.

He picked up his bowl and moved to sit beside him, though he kept a noticeable distance and had no intention of feeding the evil god.

The evil god seemed to be filled with curiosity about the world and Rong Que, almost constantly observing him.

Rong Que continued eating as if nothing was unusual.

Suddenly, the evil god put down his chopsticks and looked at Rong Que with an innocent curiosity in his eyes. "Why aren’t you feeding me?"

Rong Que’s hand paused, but before he could respond, the evil god added, "We’re both Lu Xu, aren’t we?"

Rong Que turned to look at the evil god. The meaning behind his words was clear—he had noticed that Rong Que was aware of the switch.

Moreover, the evil god seemed to have given up pretending and was now being straightforward.

As Rong Que was thinking about how to respond without provoking the evil god, the latter tilted his head as if trying to lean on Rong Que’s shoulder.

Rong Que couldn’t help but stand up and move away, his expression cold. "I’m done eating. I’ll go wash the dishes."

The evil god glanced at the half-finished meal on the table, then looked up and blinked, seemingly pitiful. "Why are you so resistant to me? Aren’t we the same person?"

Rong Que frowned. "You’re not."

Lu Xu had never harmed his friends or killed so many people.

Rong Que could never forget how the evil god from his past life had killed his friends.

Those memories had haunted him for years after his rebirth.

"Why do you hate me so much?" the evil god continued to ask.

He seemed fixated on this question.

Seeing that Rong Que didn’t answer, he looked up at him again.

Those same crimson eyes, but the evil god’s seemed as if they were truly stained with blood.

Just staring at them was enough to make one uncomfortable.

The evil god opened his mouth as if to ask again.

He didn’t seem to realize that in human interactions, repeating a question three times was considered strange.

Rong Que cut him off before he could ask again. "Do you think I can get along normally with someone who killed my friends?"

A flash of red light passed through the evil god’s eyes, and then he spoke in an innocent tone, "But if I don’t kill you, you’ll all kill me."

"Xiao Lu has been killed so many times. Don’t you feel sorry for him, Brother Rong Que?"

As he spoke, a hint of tears welled up in the Evil God's eyes, making him appear pitiful. "You all want Xiao Lu to die."

Rong Que couldn't stand the tone of his voice and the way he referred to himself. It inexplicably irritated him.

But it was true—no one had helped him in his past life.

That's why he had ended up like that.

Rong Que didn't want to speak because he didn't know what to say.

"What happened in the past has already occurred. We can no longer coexist peacefully. Please leave Lu Xu's body," Rong Que said, closing his eyes, unwilling to delve deeper into the matter.

He didn't even know how the Evil God had appeared.

Everyone else had been reborn by retaining their memories and returning to the past, but the Evil God didn't seem to be the same. It was more like two completely different souls.

"I can return to my world," the Evil God suddenly said. "Once I go back, I will self-destruct."

Rong Que was taken aback and looked at the Evil God. "What do you mean?"

"You all want me dead, and I’m willing to die," the Evil God said with a sudden smile.

But he wasn’t good at smiling, and it still looked somewhat frightening.

"I will leave Lu Xu's body, return to my world, and self-destruct. Your world won’t be affected, and in my world, you’ll get what you want," the Evil God said, word by word.

His expression was serious, and it didn’t seem like he was lying.

But Rong Que, who had fought the Evil God countless times in his past life, couldn’t bring himself to believe it.

After all, he was a cunning being.

Rong Que asked in confusion, "What’s your reason for doing this? What do you want?"

The Evil God looked at Rong Que intently, not blinking. "I want to experience Lu Xu’s life."

Rong Que understood what he meant.

After possessing Lu Xu’s body, the Evil God could access Lu Xu’s memories.

Perhaps Lu Xu’s life was what the Evil God truly desired.

It was just that his fate hadn’t been so fortunate—perhaps he had spent a miserable first half of his life in that orphanage.

That’s why he had ended up like that.

But Rong Que couldn’t fully trust the Evil God’s words.

What he feared more was that the original Lu Xu might never return.

Rong Que spoke up, "Use your ability to write a contract as proof that you’ll leave Lu Xu’s body."

The Evil God, having been exposed, wasn’t angered. He simply blinked and said, "As expected of you."

Rong Que’s face remained cold. Sure enough, the Evil God wanted to adapt to Lu Xu’s life and then replace him.

The Evil God formed a magic circle with his fingertips and then chanted, "I, Lu Xu, hereby swear on my soul that I will leave this body once my wish is fulfilled."

Rong Que looked at the magic circle. "The time limit is one day."

The Evil God bargained, dissatisfied. "How about a week? One day isn’t enough to experience anything."

Rong Que remained unmoved. "Three days."

"Five days," the Evil God pressed, seeing Rong Que relent slightly.

Rong Que shot him a glare.

Perhaps fearing that Rong Que wouldn’t grant his wish, the Evil God pouted and continued to address the magic circle. "I will leave this body in three days."

Rong Que prompted, "And then?"

The Evil God looked at Rong Que, his eyes filled with pity. "You really want me dead."

But the Evil God’s emotions had long since faded. He could easily put on an innocent and pitiful expression, but there was no genuine feeling behind it.

His expressions were more like tools the Evil God used to manipulate humans.

Rong Que turned his head away. In his past life, the Evil God had been the greatest threat.

He didn’t know how the Evil God planned to return. Perhaps it was some kind of parallel world.

After returning, the Evil God self-destructed, and the research institute's greatest reliance vanished. With the surviving superhumans, the world should be able to recover.

The Evil God sighed and added to his own contract, "And return to my own body to self-destruct, completely disappearing from the world."

The latter sentence was added by the Evil God himself.

For some reason, Rong Que was somewhat moved.

Complete disappearance...

The soul contract in the Evil God's hand solidified, emitting a beam of light that pierced his own forehead.

The essence of the soul contract was that no matter how many times he changed bodies, as long as his soul existed, the contract would remain effective.

That's why Rong Que could now fully trust the Evil God's plan.

Rong Que sighed and asked, "So, how do you want to experience Lu Xu's life?"

The Evil God didn't seem the least bit sad about his impending death in three days.

On the contrary, he was happy that Rong Que was willing to cooperate with him. "I want to go to the places you often visit and play the things you love."

"But before that, can you tell me how you noticed something was off?"

The Evil God showed a conflicted expression. "I don't want others to notice anything wrong, otherwise... I don't want to kill anyone."

Rong Que paused for a moment and said, "Your expression is too fake."

The Evil God pinched his own face, deep in thought.

"Xiao Lu likes to hide his eyes and ears when he goes out," Rong Que added. "Unless he meets someone familiar, no one would find it unusual."

By the time the Evil God learned to use his powers, there was no longer a need to hide his ears and eyes.

So he hadn't tried this method before.

But it sounded quite fun.

He searched his memories for Lu Xu's habits and quickly imitated them, concealing his unusual features.

Rong Que had no particular interest or initiative in accompanying the other party, so he directly asked, "What do you want to do?"

The Evil God thought for a moment and said, "Watch movies and eat snacks."

These were small things he had never experienced before.

Rong Que's eyes darkened. Just these?

For the sake of these mundane little things, the Evil God was willing to use a soul contract to force himself to fulfill the promise of dying in three days.

Rong Que didn't want to ask more. The more he associated with a Lu Xu who was about to die, the more he feared he would become reluctant.

After all, this was a path Lu Xu was destined to take.

Rong Que took out his phone to check if there were any late-night movie screenings. "Which movie do you want to watch?"

"Any is fine. Are you buying tickets?" the Evil God leaned over and asked.

Rong Que nodded.

He then searched his memories for the cinema. Hmm, that seemed doable. "What do you want to do after the movie?"

"Sleep at night," Rong Que replied.

The Evil God showed a regretful expression. "I only have three days, and you're going to spend half of it sleeping."

"If I don't sleep, I'll die of exhaustion," Rong Que answered expressionlessly. "You also need to sleep. This body of yours is different from before."

"Alright," the Evil God agreed. "Can you sleep with me? In my memories, you always slept holding each other."

Rong Que walked into the bedroom and rummaged around, with the Evil God curiously following beside him.

"Holding this stuffed animal is the same," Rong Que handed the toy to the Evil God.

The Evil God pouted as he held the stuffed animal.

After finishing the dishes, Rong Que took the Evil God to watch a movie.

He repeatedly reminded the other party not to use supernatural abilities, not to talk during the movie, and not to leave their seats.

The evil god furrowed his brows, "What if someone tries to hurt me?"

"Under normal circumstances, no one will hurt you."

The evil god reluctantly agreed.

When Rong Que took the evil god to get the tickets, the evil god gently tugged at his sleeve, "Popcorn."

Lu Xu used to have it every time, along with cola and milk tea.

Rong Que bought popcorn and cola for him and then sat outside waiting for the ticket check time.

After taking a sip, the evil god frowned; he didn't quite like the taste of cola, "I want milk tea."

Rong Que opened his phone again and selected milk tea on the app.

It seemed that the evil god's tastes were somewhat different from Lu Xu's.

Perhaps influenced by living habits.

He showed the options to the evil god, letting him choose what he liked.

The evil god kept picking and choosing, unable to decide, his indecisiveness seemed even worse than Lu Xu's.

Rong Que reminded him, "If you don't buy soon, the movie will start."

"Alright then." The evil god finally chose one that looked flashy.

Rong Que placed the order, and when their number was called, he went to pick it up.

By the time he returned, it was time for the ticket check. The evil god was a bit nervous for his first ticket check.

Fortunately, he didn't do anything too outrageous and got in smoothly.

Since they had chosen the movie at the last minute, Rong Que hadn't paid attention to what it was, just picked one with a suitable time.

Only after the start did they realize it was a children's movie.

Rong Que found it a bit boring and leaned back in his chair, zoning out.

When he turned his head, he saw the evil god watching with great interest.

He even leaned forward, watching very intently.

Well, the evil god had never seen a movie before, so even a children's one would interest him.

But since it was for kids, the theater was quite noisy with children.

They weren't very good at following movie etiquette, running around, shouting spoilers, and someone even kicked the evil god's chair.

At first, the evil god was too engrossed to care.

But after being disturbed, he almost instinctively wanted to use his powers to kill them.

However, Rong Que immediately whispered a reminder, "You promised me."

The evil god gave up but still felt somewhat aggrieved.

He whispered, "Can I at least make them fall asleep temporarily?"

Rong Que was a bit surprised by the evil god's question.

He was actually considering a less violent solution.

Rong Que nodded.

Almost instantly, the evil god eagerly twirled his fingers.

The theater quieted down immediately.

Even Rong Que felt his headache easing.

They watched the movie to the end without further issues and left the theater together.

It was a bit chilly outside at night, and Rong Que said, "It's time to go back and sleep."

The evil god pouted, looking somewhat unwilling, "I remember you guys have late-night snacks and bars for night activities."

So Rong Que had to take him for some barbecue.

The evil god hadn't tried many things and ordered everything he was curious about.

A large batch of skewers was placed next to the barbecue master.

The evil god, smelling the aroma, couldn't help but secretly speed up the time around the barbecue master.

Rong Que noticed his little trick but didn't mind much, letting him be.

The skewers were served one by one, and the evil god started eating them.

"Eat slower, don't hurt your body," Rong Que couldn't help but say, after all, it was still Lu Xu's body.

Eating too much or getting burned by spicy or hot food wouldn't be good.

Hearing this, the Evil God seemed to think Rong Que was concerned about him and actually looked up with a smile.

His eyes curved, resembling Lu Xu's expression.

After the Evil God had tried enough of each flavor, Rong Que thought about calling a taxi to go home.

The Evil God patted his stomach and said, "Aren't you worried about this body getting indigestion? Accompany me for a walk by the river."

Rong Que was indeed concerned, so he agreed to the Evil God's request, and they walked by the river.

The wind by the river was stronger and colder than elsewhere.

The Evil God lit a small flame at his fingertips to warm up, but it was blown askew by the wind.

He helplessly rubbed his hands, knowing Rong Que wouldn't warm his hands for him, so he didn't insist on troubling Rong Que.

Rong Que reached out and used his spatial ability to encase the Evil God's flame.

The Evil God held the transparent space in his hands, like hugging a warm baby.

Walking in silence felt inexplicably awkward, even for the Evil God, who had little social experience, he somehow felt this way.

He turned to Rong Que and said, "Why aren't you curious about why I made this losing deal with you?"

Rong Que shook his head, not wanting to understand the Evil God more.

The Evil God, seemingly having no one to talk to for many years, found someone and wanted to pour out his thoughts, "Then I'll tell you."

"At the very, very beginning, I just wanted to grow up with Brother Rong Que, to leave the orphanage and live together," the Evil God smiled.

Even after so many years, his emotions had blurred, but he still remembered his childhood.

"The bread Brother Rong Que gave me has always supported me," the Evil God didn't mind revealing his weaknesses to Rong Que.

"Even after you cut off my arm, I didn't hate you."

The Evil God's voice seemed to be ingratiating, and his face showed an expression of seeking credit.

This reminded Rong Que of the first time he met Lu Xu.

He was just like this.

Rong Que turned his head away, "I understand your choice."

The Evil God opened his eyes wide in surprise, "Then why do you insist on my death?"

"If I were you, I would do the same," Rong Que didn't know what the Evil God had experienced later.

But just from meeting Lu Xu, Lu Xu had already been through enough.

And the Evil God would have been through more, and more painful.

He continued, "But you also killed my friends, so we are destined to be on different sides."

Hearing this, the Evil God kept his head down, not knowing what he was thinking.

Tired from walking, they took a taxi home and slept in separate rooms.

When the Evil God returned to his room, he didn't forget to say goodnight to Rong Que.

Lying in bed, Rong Que received a voice message from the Evil God.

Lu Xu: Tomorrow I want to experience a birthday, can I invite everyone to celebrate with me?

The Evil God's voice carried a hint of innocence, sounding no different from Lu Xu.

This made Rong Que somewhat dazed.

But he immediately thought of Lu Xu's friends.

Most of them had been killed by the Evil God.

He couldn't let these people accompany the Evil God in a charade.

Rong Que: I can celebrate with you, but not the others.

After a while of typing, another voice message came.

Lu Xu: Then okay, it's a party for the two of us!

Rong Que didn't reply anymore, finished tidying up, and went to sleep.

Because of the presence of the evil god, Rong Que didn't sleep very soundly.

He had that nightmare from his past life again.

Only this time, Lu Xu wasn't by his side.

Rong Que woke up from the dream, sat in the darkness, rubbed his head, and decided to go wash his face.

Not wanting to turn on the light, he simply opened the door and stepped out.

The living room, illuminated only by moonlight, made the flickering light from Lu Xu's room particularly noticeable.

What was the evil god doing inside?

Rong Que frowned and walked over.

As he approached, he heard an excited voice announce, "Pentakill."

It was the voiceover from the PC game Lu Xu used to play.

Rong Que hesitated for a moment but still knocked on the door.

The sound effects from the game inside instantly disappeared, and the evil god seemed to be playing dead, not making a single sound.

Rong Que knocked again, "I know you're playing the game."

Inside, there was the sound of someone slowly getting off their chair, followed by footsteps approaching the door.

Rong Que saw the evil god open the door, a faint blush on his face.

Facing Rong Que's tightly furrowed brows, the evil god cautiously and shyly said, "Can you not tell anyone about me giving the enemy a pentakill?"

Rong Que: ...

If he hadn't said anything, Rong Que would have thought the evil god was a gaming genius who had helped Lu Xu get a pentakill.
