After the Mid-Autumn Festival, the weather remained warm.
As the morning light began to break, Yu Bai opened his eyes, feeling the warmth of the body pressed against his back enveloping him from head to toe.
He turned his head and met the gaze of the orc who had already woken up. His arm slipped out from under the thin blanket, tracing the orc's resolute features, only to have his fingertips gently caught.
"Bai," Huo Duo'er's voice was deep and low. He leaned down to kiss Yu Bai's cheek for a while, then moved closer along the nape of his neck.
Yu Bai's breathing began to quicken, his eyes darting toward the small crib nearby.
He asked intermittently, "Has the baby been fed yet…?"
Huo Duo'er replied, "He was fed before dawn."
Yu Bai couldn't produce milk, so the recently pregnant female orcs in the tribe had generously provided milk for Jialai to drink.
Being able to nurture the offspring of the priest and the chief was an honor that the tribe members could hardly dream of, so fresh milk was delivered daily to the central courtyard of the tribe.
Unlike in the past, the pregnant orcs in Fantasy tribe were now well taken care of before and after childbirth, and their milk supply was naturally abundant, eliminating the need to rely on animal milk.
Yu Bai and Huo Duo'er didn't refuse this kindness, nor did they accept the milk without giving something in return. Every few days, they would send gifts to the homes of those who provided the milk.
At this moment, with the baby already fed, Yu Bai wasn't in a hurry to get up.
A few days ago, he had resumed his intimate life with Huo Duo'er.
Having abstained for nearly a year, the orc's desire was anything but ordinary.
But no matter how much he wanted it, Huo Duo'er had only held Yu Bai once.
As the sky began to lighten, with the baby fed and his warm, fragrant mate in his arms, Huo Duo'er had initially intended to simply cherish the moment.
However, when he felt a tickle at his waist, caused by Yu Bai's bent leg brushing against him, he received a clear signal.
Seeing Yu Bai's cheeks slowly flush red, Huo Duo'er instantly took control.
His sweat-drenched arm didn't forget to lower the curtain on the small crib.
Even though the baby was still asleep, with someone nearby, Yu Bai always bit his lip and tried to suppress his moans, making as little noise as possible.
Huo Duo'er sat up, pulling Yu Bai's soft body into his arms. His large hand supported Yu Bai's back as he couldn't resist nibbling on the moving Adam's apple.
Yu Bai's neck was damp with sweat, his hair clinging to his skin. His moist eyes fluttered open, and another low whimper escaped his lips.
"Bai, let it out," Huo Duo'er urged.
Yu Bai clung tightly to Huo Duo'er's sweaty shoulders, his entire body stiffening as his breathing grew rapid.
After a while, he was cleaned up and dressed in a linen robe.
—
By the time the sun was fully up, the two of them, now well-fed and content, parted ways at the door.
Yu Bai's body had fully recovered, but with the busy harvest season, Huo Duo'er had to travel to many places. Yu Bai stayed home to rest, occasionally visiting a few gathering areas.
In the afternoon, the autumn sun rose high, casting a warm, dry glow over the tribe.
Yu Bai pushed the baby stroller, with the little wolf following beside him.
As soon as they stepped out of the courtyard, they were surrounded by several orcs on the road.
The enthusiastic orcs gently pushed the little wolf aside, trying to smile subtly so as not to frighten the baby.
"Priest Bai~"
"The baby is so beautiful, just as expected from Priest Bai."
"The baby is smiling at me…!"
Jialai, the center of attention, showed no signs of shyness. His large, silver eyes sparkled, and his curved eyebrows were almost identical to Yu Bai's when he smiled.
The orcs exclaimed, "!"
The little white, chubby bundle was irresistible to anyone who saw him.
But the orcs were afraid that their hands might be too rough and accidentally harm the little orc, so they could only gaze longingly at the baby carriage, not daring to touch it.
From the tribe to the eastern gathering area, it wasn't a long journey, but Yu Bai had to stop several times along the way, unable to resist the enthusiasm of the orcs who wanted to see the baby.
"Bai~"
A deep and resonant call. Yu Bai followed the sound and saw two people approaching side by side.
Man and Ze.
Man put down his arm that had been resting on Ze's shoulder. The two had just returned from a hunt, taken a bath at home, and were now out to cool off.
Seeing the baby, Man rubbed his hands together and squatted beside the baby carriage like a big wolf dog. He was naturally thick-skinned and took advantage of their close relationship, he unceremoniously poked the baby's chubby arm with his finger.
Man looked at the totem on the little arm and chuckled, "Bai, I'll help you take care of the orc baby!"
He then tugged at Ze, "Ze and I will help you take care of the orc baby."
Yu Bai looked at the baby's features and quickly agreed.
Although Man was usually rough, he was careful when it mattered and wouldn't mess things up. Yu Bai wasn't worried that he would harm the baby.
With Ze around, the two were willing to take care of the baby, giving Yu Bai some free time to focus on gathering tasks.
"Man, Ze, thank you."
Man chuckled, and Ze also showed a warm expression toward the orc baby.
The orcs listening by the roadside were filled with envy.
If only they had the audacity of Man, they could openly take Bai's orc baby away!
—
The baby who had been "taken away" smiled, and Man stopped in his tracks, standing still like a rock.
He was momentarily confused and squatted down to stare at the baby.
After a moment, Man twisted his thick brows and grinned at Ze.
"Ze, the baby really isn't afraid of me."
Ze smoothed out Man's messy hair and also laughed.
It was no wonder Man adored the baby—he liked those who were naturally bold.
In the tribe, not just the orc babies, but even the more timid orcs would avoid him, and some had even been scared to tears by him.
Man had originally planned to take Ze for a few laps around the area to cool off, and then they would go back and roll around in bed.
But for now, the idea of rolling in bed was set aside. Like two fathers, he and Ze pushed the baby carriage around the tribe a few times, with no other purpose than to show off.
Ze looked at Man and smiled, "Do you want to hold Jialai?"
Man: "Huh?!"
He looked down and locked eyes with the baby.
The orc baby was as soft as could be. Man's face twisted as he asked in a gruff voice, "Won't I break the baby? If Big Huo and Bai get angry, I can't afford to compensate them…"
Despite his words, he rubbed his hands together, eager to try.
Ze carefully cradled Jialai in his arms, patting the little body to soothe him.
The baby's eyes opened slightly, curious.
It was the first time he had been held by an orc other than his father, but he didn't cry. His round, silver eyes studied Ze.
Man leaned in closer, staring into Jialai's eyes.
"This baby really isn't afraid…"
With that, Man planted a loud kiss on Ze's right cheek and spread his arms, "Ze, let me hold the baby."
The baby was handed over to Man.
Man instantly stiffened, unable to move.
Ze laughed, "Breathe."
Man took a deep breath and, after finding a bit of the right feeling, imitated Ze's earlier movements, gently patting the orc cub with his palm.
"How is it?"
"Very good."
Once Man grasped the technique, he didn't let the cub lie in the stroller anymore but carried it around, showing it off to everyone he met.
The orcs who were shown off to rubbed their hands, wanting to touch the cub. Just as they were about to, Man quickly dodged, grinning mischievously: "I won't let you touch the cub."
This infuriated the orcs, their teeth grinding audibly, but they dared not do anything to Man.
After all, they really couldn't beat Leader Man!
—
In the evening, a sudden wind blew, and the temperature around the mountains dropped sharply, instantly turning cold.
Huo Duo'er came to pick up the orc cub.
After playing with the cub all afternoon, Man and Ze were somewhat reluctant to send it back.
Man said, "Big Huo, I'll teach him to fight in the future."
Ze couldn't help but laugh.
A gust of wind blew up, swirling fallen leaves.
The wind in the mountains brought the chill of autumn close to the skin.
Huo Duo'er worried that Yu Bai might catch a cold, so after a brief conversation with Man and Ze, he hurriedly left.
Near the gathering area, Yu Bai, Mian, and other orcs walked to the foot of the mountain and suddenly stopped.
Lian winked and smiled, "Priest Bai, Chief Huo has come to pick you up."
Mian waved to the cub.
The cub nestled in the arms of the big father, giggling. As Bai approached, the cub stretched out its chubby arm and touched Bai’s face.
Jialai babbled, and Yu Bai somehow understood.
The cub was calling him home.
Huo Duo'er gazed at his mate: "It's getting cold, Bai, let's hurry back."
Yu Bai kissed the cub: "Hmm~"
He turned back to say a few words to Mian and the others. As soon as he finished speaking, he let out a soft exclamation, and was directly picked up by Huo Duo'er.
Huo Duo'er held him in his left arm and the cub in his right, tossing the medicine basket for the little wolf to carry.
Lian and the other lively sub-female orcs who worked with the priest started teasing him, and even the usually reserved and introverted Mian joined in the laughter.
Yu Bai quickly blushed.
He wrapped his arms around Huo Duo'er's neck: "Let's go back quickly."
Huo Duo'er lowered his head, his chin brushing against Yu Bai's face, then tightened his arm to bring his mate and the cub closer.
Smoke rose from the tribe's dwellings as the orcs began cooking.
The vast smoke added a warm, homely atmosphere to the deep autumn evening.
The road was paved with asphalt, smooth and clean. A few orcs fetching water lingered in the square, and patrolling warriors passed by.
Yu Bai couldn't help but feel moved.
Although conditions were limited, and he couldn't bring more modern technology to the tribe, the current tribe wasn't bad, at least it had peace and stability.
The heat on his face slowly faded as he looked around, finally resting his gaze between Huo Duo'er and Jialai.
He felt that life didn't need to change anything; it was good as it was.
