The post from the Intensive Care Unit instantly blew up the entire forum.
Everyone expressed disbelief.
【What nonsense? Do you want me to believe the director left the signature on his desk and walked away, or do you believe I’m Qin Shihuang?】
【You think we haven’t tried that before? Our department once pulled off a diversion tactic by sending a agile guy to rummage through the break room, but we couldn’t find even a scrap of paper with a signature.】
【I thought the Intensive Care Unit was decent, but turns out it’s just as bad as the psychiatric and morgue department. What a show off.】
【Seriously, even if you’re an S-level big shot, can you not joke around right now? Is this the time for memes?】
Seeing that no one on the forum believed him, the S-level leader of the Intensive Care Unit got anxious.
【I swear, every word I’ve said is true!】
To convince everyone, he provided more details.
Original Post: 【Just half an hour ago, the Medical Department came to inspect our unit. Everyone who’s joined should have heard about this department from their unit directors, so I won’t go into detail. Anyway, you all know that NPCs in the ultimate dungeon are no good—they’re ruthless. This morning, the Medical Department came by to inspect and deducted us two points, which got two of our team members sent to the confinement room. Then, just now, they came again. I overheard them talking loudly about signatures in the break room, so I kept an eye out. After they finished talking, they all left the break room and headed for the elevator. I ran outside the break room and noticed the window was open, and there on the table was a signature from our ICU director.】
What happened next was no surprise. The S-level leader looked around, saw no one, and immediately pocketed the signature.
Almost the moment he got the signature, the system announcement went off, so he rushed to the forum to post.
After his detailed account, along with many teammates corroborating in the thread, the survivors in the thread began to waver.
【It does sound plausible.】
【He’s an S-level, after all. He probably wouldn’t make up a story to fool us.】
【I can vouch for the Medical Department thing. They came to inspect us this morning too. It’s reasonable to assume they’d come back in the afternoon to finalize the inspection and get the director’s signature, but they got intercepted instead.】
【Damn, the ICU’s luck is insane. Jealous.jpg】
【Jealous, I’m jealous too.】
Although everyone now believed the “ICU got a free signature” story, it was clear to the discerning eye that this kind of stroke of luck was as rare as finding an intact egg in a hail of bullets, it could not be copied nor tried again.
So, the thread’s popularity only lasted briefly before fading away.
What really set the forum ablaze again was the second post that followed.
【Holy crap!!! Our General Surgery Department also got a signature!!!】
The OP of this thread was even more excited than the ICU guy, mainly because their department’s setup was far worse. They didn’t have an S-level big shot, only a few A-levels survivors, so completing the main mission required much more effort than usual.
Coincidentally, just as they saw the ICU post, the General Surgery Department also had an inspection from the Medical Department.
It was indeed strange. Unlike the crowd that had gathered around two people in the morning, this time only three people came for the inspection. One was the head of the medical department, another was the head department's assistant, and the third was an attendant fully dressed in a sterilized suit, wearing a mask that completely concealed their face.
The captain of the general surgery department, harboring the thought of "what if? It doesn’t hurt to just take a look," hid by the door of the break room.
After the director and the medical department finished their conversation and left together, he went in. To his utter surprise, there was actually a signed paper on the break room desk!
This discovery thrilled the survivors in the general surgery department.
They had been racking their brains on how to complete the divided task, but now it seemed like they had stumbled upon it effortlessly.
【Thank you to the kind-hearted medical department for the signed paper, thank you!】
【I misunderstood the medical department; they are truly kind and benevolent!】
【We also have to thank the intensive care unit for sharing their experience, otherwise, such a great opportunity wouldn’t have come our way.】
With two departments in a row enjoying the unexpected benefit of receiving signed papers, the entire forum was abuzz.
【Is this for real? The medical department came for inspection and this happens? Please come to our department too!】
【I’ll take it, I’ll take it! This is definitely something worth accepting!】
【The proctology department really needs this! I don’t want to assist with the weird rectal exams anymore, please, it’s a lifelong psychological trauma...】
Meanwhile, in the obstetrics and gynecology department, after finally completing the divided task and obtaining a blood-stained signed paper, Yu Anlian opened her phone and saw the chaos on the forum.
"What's going on? They found a loophole?" she was utterly shocked.
The medical department had also inspected the obstetrics and gynecology department in the morning. Through her profiling, Yu Anlian knew they were ruthless and exploitative.
Under normal circumstances, how could they possibly leave such a glaring loophole?
Yes, it must've have been intentional.
If this kind thing happens once, it can be considered luck, but twice? This could only mean it was intentional, it's impossible for the brain types to not understand the probability and chance of this happening
But Yu Anlian couldn’t figure out why the medical department would do this. In the end, they were the ones who wanted them dead, how could they possibly extend a helping hand?
"Could there be some task mechanism we’re not aware of?" Kaguya speculated.
"I'm not sure."
Yu Anlian shook her head: "For now, there must a reason that can explain everything that we can figure out later, so let’s just go with it."
"If the medical department continues their inspections, the reason will eventually be noticed by someone."
As it turned out, Yu Anlian’s guess was spot on.
Following the intensive care unit and the general surgery department, departments that received signed papers began to sprout up like mushrooms after the rain. And they all had one thing in common, they had all been inspected by the medical department.
After going through the process with yet another department, in the elevator, the head of the medical department rubbed his face and smiled apologetically: "Sir, do you think this is enough?"
"Not yet, it’s not enough," Zong Le, who was wrapped up tightly, crossed his arms.
These days, even doing good deeds requires secrecy.
What could he do? He was naturally low-key.
"We have only visited a few departments so far. There are still so many departments waiting to complete their tasks. Are you tired already?"
"No, no, no! If you’re not tired, how could we be tired!"
The head of the department was at a loss for words.
The three of them made their rounds to other departments, but they were at a loss why they were doing this. They would enter, lock the door, and without a word, beat up the department director, coercing them into signing a document before taking them away and leaving the signed paper on the desk.
While the survivors felt exhilarated by this, the head of the medical department was on pins and needles.
Several department directors had already threatened that his actions violated hospital rules and would report him to the dean.
Caught between a rock and a hard place, the head of the medical department knew he was in deep trouble and could only beg for mercy.
"Ancestor! If you keep going like this, I’ll lose my job. Please, spare me!"
"Don’t worry, you won’t," Zong Le reassured him. "Soon, the dean will be too busy saving himself to bother with you."
Once all the survivors had gathered the signatures from all the department directors, they can open the dean’s office door. A hundred S-level survivors would rush in, followed by countless A-level and B-level ones. He was confident they could take down the dean.
Zong Le had already assessed the dean’s capabilities when he laid out the weird domain in the dean’s office. In his view, the survivors were more than capable of handling the dean without his intervention, so he had full confidence in them.
"Ah? You mean..." The head of the medical department’s eyes widened.
To him, these words were a clear signal of a power grab. The black-haired young man’s casual demeanor now exuded a chilling pressure, as if a single glance from him could decide his life or death.
Having climbed the ranks in the hospital’s power structure to become the head of the medical department, he knew better than anyone how to read the situation. The choice was clear: either pledge allegiance immediately or face complete annihilation.
Cold sweat trickled down his back as the head of the medical department eagerly responded, "I understand!"
In the following departments, to save his own skin and prove his loyalty to the new leader, the head of the medical department and his deputy took charge, not daring to let Zong Le intervene.
"Hurry up! Stop dawdling, sign it!"
"Done? Good, leave it on the table, and come with us."
In reality, they didn’t even need to resort to force. The medical department at Taikang Yongle Hospital was the dean’s loyal henchmen. In most cases, the department head only needed to throw his weight around a bit, and the department directors would obediently hand over their signatures.
Unaware of the bigger picture, they wouldn’t dare offend the dean, and signing wasn’t a big deal anyway.
Once the department head figured things out and leveraged his existing authority, things moved swiftly. Zong Le was quite pleased to avoid further physical confrontations.
However, as expected, trouble was brewing.
The departments that had completed their tasks didn’t need to continue working, so the survivors flocked to other departments to help. Leading the charge was 1st, Joshua, of course, he wouldn’t miss this golden opportunity to boost his popularity among the masses.
He immediately posted a call to action on the forum and personally led the Temple Army.
Unfortunately, his usually foolproof plan failed this time. As one department after another reported that the medical department’s inspections allowed them to get signatures for free, the uproar on the forum drowned out everything else.
"I think there’s something fishy going on," said one of the three major guild leaders, who had already completed their tasks and gathered their teams in the lobby.
After consulting with their strategists, they all agreed that something was seriously amiss.
"The Medical Department probably isn’t doing this out of kindness or out of goodness of their hearts. Someone must be pulling strings behind the scenes to push this outcome."
"Whether it’s out of goodwill or hidden malice, we don’t know yet."
With one plan after another going off track or failing, Joshua’s patience was gradually wearing thin.
The silver-haired man glanced subtly at the crowd outside the morgue. Not spotting the person he was looking for, his already dwindling patience was nearly exhausted.
"The Medical Department’s movements aren’t a secret. They’re still conducting inspections in various departments."
He flashed his usual saintly smile. "Let’s do it this way. We’ll intercept them and uncover the answer ourselves."
