The Beautiful Brother of the Orion’s Family (Wearing Book) - 138

Old Xu, who was about to turn eighty next year, looked healthy and well-fed, and can sleep soundly.

Despite his age, he was in good shape.

Tang Xu was always concerned about Old Xu, fearing that he would worry too much about him and end up making himself sick with anxiety.

Seeing the confusion in Old Xu’s eyes, Tang Xu smiled and said, “Old Xu, don’t you remember? This is the one who—”

Old Xu was momentarily stunned, then, like Tang Xu, he smiled and stroked his beard. “Oh, oh, yes, Erhu is indeed fortunate.”

Wang Cuicui’s face flushed, and she smiled and nodded at Master Xu. “Yes, having a child like Xu Ge’er is a blessing.”

Old Xu shook his head, not saying much more. Instead, he turned his attention back to Tang Xu and scolded him some more.

Tang Xu straightened his back and focused.

Old Xu pointed at Tang Xu’s forehead, speaking earnestly, “You’re the rope that ties Dongzi down. If something happens to you, this family could fall apart. You can’t be so reckless in the future.”

Tang Xu nodded vigorously. Wei Dong’s behavior had genuinely frightened him. He wasn’t just scared of Wei Dong but worried about his impulsive nature.

He understood Old Xu’s words well, at least about seventy to eighty percent. He knew it was both a promise and a reminder to be more careful in the future, to avoid placing himself and others in dangerous situations.

Just as Tang Xu had finished his self-reflection, Wei Dong and Wei Zhonghong walked in, one after the other.

From Wei Dong's expressionless face and Wei Zhonghong's demeanor, it was clear that their trip had been eventful.

“Ah Dong~~~” Tang Xu hurriedly got off the kang and threw himself into Wei Dong’s embrace.

Wei Dong lifted his hand to hold him, carefully avoiding his injured shoulder, and looked down at him.

Tang Xu leaned against his chest, tilting his head back with eyes glistening, “I’m fine. Are you angry?”

Wei Dong’s face remained stern as he spoke, his hand tightly gripping Tang Xu’s shoulder.

Tang Xu gently patted his back and whispered, “I really am fine.”

“Hmm.” Wei Dong might have been trying to ignore him, but even though he was still angry, he responded.

However, this response did not ease Tang Xu’s tension. Instead, it made him stiffen.

When had his partner ever been so cold to him?

In fact, since they got together, it had never happened!

What did this mean?

It meant that his partner was really angry.

Swallowing hard, Tang Xu took a deep breath.

The matter was settled; nothing could have made him feel worse on the kang!

The drama ended with Wei Dong's violent intervention. Tang Xu took the house and land contracts given by Wang Cuicui and promised to choose an auspicious date soon to deliver the betrothal gifts.

Even though it was a second marriage, Tang Xu could not make his father feel wronged.

Back at home, Tang Xu obediently went to check on his son. The chubby baby had woken up and was drinking milk. At just over a month old, he was a healthy and content baby, eating and sleeping as usual, occasionally kicking his legs and turning over, lifting his head to look around.

His big eyes were fixed on the small rattle placed on the kang. He babbled a few times, excitedly.

Xu Ze quickly turned his head in the direction the baby was looking and picked up the rattle, shaking it.

The clacking sound of the rattle made the baby very happy. He grinned widely, showing his two little white teeth and rosy gums.

Hearing the sound of the door opening, Xu Ze turned his head, and the baby looked up. Both pairs of big eyes were fixed on the door curtain.

Tang Xu lifted the curtain and entered. Seeing the two of them, he smiled and said to Xu Ze, “Thank you for helping me look after the baby.”

“The baby was very good and didn’t fuss at all,” Xu Ze said, shaking the rattle in his hand.

The rattle drum smelled as sweet as his father’s fragrance. When Tang Xu walked in, the chubby kid was excited that he flipped over like a little turtle, flapping around vigorously, hoping his father would come and pick him up. He immediately burst into tears, crying out loud.

Like thunder and lightning, he screamed with all his might.

Tang Xu hurried over to pick him up.

The movement was too sudden, causing Tang Xu’s shoulder to hurt.

But as soon as he picked him up, his shoulder pain worsened.

The chubby kid blinked his big eyes at his father, filled with confusion.

What’s going on? Why is Father holding me?

Wei Dong came from behind and picked up the quieted chubby kid, shaking him gently.

The chubby kid seemed grateful. He didn’t want to be held by his stiff father and reached out his hands towards Tang Xu, “Ah ah ah ah!”

Tang Xu leaned in to press his face against the child’s, whispering softly, “Daddy’s arm hurts, so it’s hard to hold you. I’ll hug later, we can only snuggle for now.”

Their faces pressed together, as he nuzzled.

The chubby kid struggled a bit, using his little arms to tightly hug Tang Xu’s neck, showing some strength.

After some fuss, Tang Xu only nuzzled him. The chubby kid looked aggrieved, pouting his little mouth and making a sound of complaint.

“Be good, Daddy can’t hold you right now. We’ll hug later when I can,” Tang Xu said, kissing his soft, chubby face.

The chubby kid snuggled closer to him, then twisted around to play with the rattle drum.

By this time, Xu Ze had already gone outside, and the rattle drum was in Wei Dong’s hands.

The two of them were playing with the child inside the house when Liu Yao came back from outside, walking hurriedly.

After putting down his backpack and tidying himself up a bit, he went to the main house.

“Brother Xu, are you there?” Liu Yao called out from outside the window.

Tang Xu responded, “I’m here!”

Liu Yao entered the room, first glancing at him and Wei Dong, then sighed in relief and said, “Thankfully you’re alright.”

Tang Xu gave him an embarrassed smile, as it was likely that the whole village already knew about his injury and the news about Wei Dong coming over to beat the Sun Family members.

He sighed and cast a furtive glance at Wei Dong, who had a neutral expression on his face, showing no sign of emotion.

Tang Xu’s heart sank again.

It was calm before the storm.

He swallowed hard; he probably had a tough time ahead in the evening.

Liu Yao saw that Tang Xu was okay and asked about the situation. After that, he went to Tang Erhu’s place with a pile of documents, left them there, explained everything, and then returned home to cook.

Just like that, or rather, mostly, Tang Xu had been ignored by Wei Dong as he wandered around in front of him several times.

In the afternoon, Tang Erhu came again and scolded him, and after scolding, he was deeply distressed, his eyes turning red with emotion. It took Tang Xu a long time to soothe him before he finally left.

At night, it was completely dark.

Tang Xu inexplicably felt his hairs standing on end, and a chill seemed to be creeping up his back.

He looked around and saw his son’s silhouette.

Where did he go?

Only his son was around.

He frowned and went to take a shower. After finishing, he came back to the room, and his man was back, but his son was missing.

Tang Xu puzzledly asked, “Where’s the kid?”

“He’s staying with Wei Xi for the night,” Wei Dong said, tossing his clothes onto the bed and turning to look at him.

Tang Xu looked at Wei Dong’s well-defined muscles and tried to suppress a gulp.

It was either from desire or fear.

That whole night, Tang Xu cried so much that his voice went hoarse, saying all sorts of shameful things. Even though they were an old married couple, he still felt extremely embarrassed.

He lay dazed on the bed, recalling the things Wei Dong had made him promise last night. With a flushed face, Tang Xu grunted and turned over to go to sleep.

By the time he woke up and could get out of bed, it was already past lunchtime. Feeling hungry, he put on his shoes and went to wash up, then saw Wei Dong in the yard, basking in the sun with the chubby kid.

Wei Dong looked refreshed, completely different from the fierce and intimidating demeanor he had last night.

Hearing footsteps, Wei Dong turned around and, noticing Tang Xu walking slowly, asked, “Did you wake up?”

Tang Xu drooped his eyelids and grunted. He went over to poke at his son, who was lying on a small bed. “Baby?”

The chubby kid, drowsy from the sun, quickly opened his eyes when he heard his father’s voice and reached out to grab his finger.

Tang Xu bent over, feeling the soreness and pain, his shoulder still a bit uncomfortable. Although his body felt better, his face was quite red, evidently from being ravished.

Wei Dong stared at him for a while and said, “Wait a moment; I’ll change your medicine for you.”

“There’s nothing to change. It’s just bruised all over; it’s fine,” Tang Xu had glanced at his shoulder when putting on clothes earlier. It was a deep purple path and swollen, it looked quite alarming. It hurt a lot, with the swelling feeling particularly heavy, making it hard to lift his arm.

“I’ll ask Old Xu and use some rubbing ointment,” Wei Dong said, pulling open his collar to look inside. It seemed a bit less swollen than when he first got injured.

The injury on his shoulder, although severe, was only a surface wound. With the application of ointment, the bruising healed quickly.

After seven days, his shoulder was completely better, and Tang Xu started preparing for Tang Erhu’s wedding.

There wasn’t much left to do for the new house; the wedding quilts needed to be made. Fortunately, the old lady took this matter seriously, and she, along with Luo Pingping, made two sets of wedding quilts.

At the large residence, the business of Tang Li and Liu Yao’s marinated snacks was thriving. They sold all their goods in the morning.

Tang Xu often made various pastries for Liu Yao to take out and sell as well, which were also very popular.

After his shoulder felt better, Liu Yao would talk to him every now and then, saying that the villagers ate the cakes he made, and asked him to make more to sell after he had a good rest.

On the tenth day of the eleventh lunar month, an auspicious day, suitable for marriage, moving, and starting construction.

Everyone in the village attended the wedding, and Wang Cuicui, a widow, was able to marry into the Tang family.

In the village, everyone knew that Tang Erhu had money, and marrying him was considered a good fortune. Many people were eager to become Tang Erhu’s second wife, but in the end, it was a well-known widow who took the place.

Some people noticed the clues, realizing that Tang Xu’s sudden purchase of Sun’s house and fields was not just about buying land but was actually about giving face to his future stepmother.

Despite the gossip and sour remarks from the village, they had no impact on Tang Erhu and Wang Cuicui.

Over the past month, they had met a few times and got along well. Wang Cuicui’s daughter also came; the mother and daughter had a heartfelt conversation and cried a lot. Although the details were unclear, Wang Cuicui’s daughter showed respect towards Tang Erhu.

The wedding was bustling and chaotic. Tang Xu was so tired that he didn’t even have a chance to take a bath. He was dozing off on the bed when Wei Dong came and helped him take a bath.

By the time Wei Dong brought him back, he had already fallen asleep.

By the end of December, the chubby kid was almost six months old and had started crawling!

Tang Xu's days were becoming increasingly troublesome.

The small stroller could no longer contain the energetic little chubby kid. The child was crawling all over the bed, moving from one side to the other and back again, repeatedly without stopping.

At first, he crawled slowly, but soon he got used to it and his speed picked up. Even when a pillow was placed at the edge of the bed to block him, the little rascal would just toss it aside with his arms.

So, someone had to keep an eye on him by the edge of the bed to prevent him from falling off.

Tang Xu sat on a chair at the edge of the bed, drowsily watching his son crawl around.

"Brother, Auntie wants you to come eat. She said she’s making fish stew," Tang Yang ran in from outside. The young boy had grown taller recently and was quite robust.

As soon as Tang Xu heard the word "fish," it was as if he could smell the fishy odor, and his stomach churned immediately.

"Ugh~"

Tang Yang was startled. "Brother, what’s wrong?"

Tang Xu’s face turned pale, and he retched again. "Ugh!"

TL: What could that mean?~ ꒰๑*´ᗜ`*꒱
