The Gentle Man Next Door is a Rabbit - 77

TGMNDIAR - 77

Xu Mu had never expected that the first place he would step into upon arrival wouldn't be the living room, but Bai Nian's room.

"...Take the medicine box with you, and don't forget the pain relief device," Mrs. Bai called out from behind.

Bai Nian nodded slightly, indicating that he would take care of it.

Xu Mu was pushed into the room by Bai Nian, feeling dazed and confused.

"Lift up your pants, let me see," Bai Nian half squatted down.

Xu Mu mechanically obeyed, feeling like a lost soul.

"You've got bruises and you're bleeding from the fall," Bai Nian frowned, sounding somewhat distressed.

He first used the pain relief device and then gently applied medicine, finally covering it with a layer of transparent medical adhesive.

"Feeling better?" Bai Nian asked.

"Yeah..." Xu Mu bent down, burying his face in Bai Nian's neck and murmured, "It’s over, Brother Nian. Do I look even more unreliable now?"

Bai Nian patted his back and chuckled, "No, don't overthink it. Mom knows you're nervous."

Xu Mu took a deep breath and adjusted his mood, "Okay, let's go out now. Don't let Uncle and Aunt wait too long."

Bai Nian straightened his pants leg for him, "Is it uncomfortable to stand up?"

"Not really, I'm fine," Xu Mu said helplessly. "To be honest, the moment I knelt down, I didn't feel any pain at all."

—His mind was filled with thoughts of "it's over, it's over."

Bai Nian casually took out the storage compartment containing their luggage and placed it in the room.

Xu Mu belatedly realized that this was Bai Nian's... bedroom?

"Is this the room you used to live in?"

"Yeah." Bai Nian nodded, "But I didn't spend much time here. When Mom and Uncle Qin got married, I was already preparing to go to high school, so I stayed in the school dormitory and only came home on weekends."

“Oh, I see.” Xu Mu couldn't help but look around, trying to capture all the traces left by Bai Nian.

The room layout was nice, with a small balcony. Overall, it was primarily gray and black, with a simple style. The white walls only had one landscape oil painting hanging, without any clutter.

The desk and bookshelf were neatly organized, and the bed had not a single crease, like a perfect model room.

It seemed devoid of personality, but there were indeed traces of someone living there.

Xu Mu walked around, then suddenly turned back to find Bai Nian looking at him gently.

Xu Mu touched his nose, "I was just curious, after all, it's the place where you used to live."

Bai Nian smiled, "Feel free to look around, there's no restriction. You can even roll around here at night."

Xu Mu paused for a second, looking puzzled, "At night... we're staying together here?"

Bai Nian raised an eyebrow, "What? Do you want to go find a hotel to stay in?"

"...No, I mean, just your mom, she..." Xu Mu hesitated, "Wouldn't it seem impolite of me to stay here?"

Bai Nian calmly replied, "My mom knows we're living together."

Xu Mu choked up, hesitatingly asking, "Did she say anything about it?"

Bai Nian pinched his cheek and chuckled, "She asked me if you knew about my physical condition. I said yes, and she didn't ask anything else."

Xu Mu looked at his nose, which was getting closer, unable to resist, he touched it with his lips.

Bai Nian blinked.

A soft kiss, as gentle as a spring breeze passing by, Xu Mu cleared his throat, "Let's go out, Uncle and Auntie have been waiting for us."

Bai Nian's lips curved slightly upwards.

Living Room

"Here, have some fruit." Mrs. Bai cut a bowl of mixed fruits and warmly invited Xu Mu to eat.

Xu Mu sat on the sofa, maintaining a composed demeanor, "Thank you, Auntie."

The unexpected stumble at the door made him even more cautious with his words and actions. He measured his smile as if he wanted to use a ruler.

He scooped up a few spoonfuls, tasting all the colorful fruits.

"So sweet, Auntie, you have such a good eye for picking fruits," he praised sincerely.

Mrs. Bai covered her mouth and laughed, "You're such an honest child."

Then she asked Qin Qian, her daughter with Qin Yi, "Yan Yan, did you greet him already?"

Qin Qian, a 16-year-old high school student, had a quiet appearance, with a ponytail hanging gently at the nape of her neck. She spoke softly, "Yes."

Xu Mu hurriedly chimed in, "Yes, she did call."

Mrs. Bai patted Qin Qian's head and praised her for being obedient.

Then she asked with a smile, "After sitting on the flying ship for several hours, are you tired?"

"Not really, I'm not tired," Xu Mu replied.

"Niannia, here are kiwifruits that you like." Mrs. Bai scooped a plate of kiwifruit flesh for Bai Nian.

"Great." Bai Nian ate a few pieces, enjoying the slightly sour and sweet taste, just like he used to.

Seeing this, Xu Mu picked out the kiwifruits from his own plate, "Brother Nian, do you want more?"

Bai Nian pushed his hand away, glancing sideways, "That's enough."

Xu Mu felt a bit disappointed, "Okay."

He said, "Auntie, is Uncle cooking in the kitchen?"

"Oh, yes." Mrs. Bai nodded, "Why, are you hungry?"

As she spoke, she was about to get up and go to the kitchen.

Xu Mu hurriedly stopped her, "Not hungry, not hungry. I just saw Uncle busy alone and wanted to help."

"How can I let guests work?" Mrs. Bai smiled, "Come, eat more fruit."

Xu Mu hesitated, looking at the kitchen separated by a wall, and finally sat down.

"Okay, thank you, Auntie."

The two chatted awkwardly for a while, with Bai Nian adding a few words from time to time, subtly easing the atmosphere.

Taking the opportunity, Xu Mu introduced the gifts he brought, such as vintage coats, shiny bracelets, and necklaces. Mrs. Bai was dazzled and praised him for his thoughtfulness.

"However, these are too extravagant." Mrs. Bai said, "You're still a student, you don't need to spend too much money—"

"I have a part-time job at university." Xu Mu said, "It looks like a lot but there aren't actually many things, they're all my heartfelt thoughts, I hope you like them."

Mrs. Bai immediately said, "Of course, I love them very much."

Xu Mu also prepared a suitable gift for Qin Qian, who was sitting beside him. Qin Qian, being shy, whispered her thanks and even felt too embarrassed to stay behind Mrs. Bai.

"This is a gift prepared for Uncle. I'll tell him after he finishes his meal. I hope he likes it," Xu Mu said.

Mrs. Bai remarked, "Oh, he'll definitely like it. He goes fishing every day. When he sees this equipment, he'll probably want to go night fishing at the pond."

As Xu Mu and Mrs. Bai chatted more harmoniously, even if they didn't speak later, the atmosphere didn't feel awkward.

The living room's screen was playing a TV drama. Xu Mu's eyes were mostly fixed on it.

—So even in the orc world, there are melodramatic prime-time shows.

He thought to himself, maintaining a calm expression on his face.

Mrs. Bai was also engrossed in the TV drama, enjoying it thoroughly. She even opened a pomelo, breaking off a few pieces to share with Xu Mu and Bai Nian.

"Thank you, Auntie," Xu Mu said.

Mrs. Bai waved her hand, "No need to thank me, Ah Mu. You're just too polite. Just treat this place as your own home."

"Okay," Xu Mu responded with his mouth, but his shoulders remained still, his back unbowed.

"Brother Nian, want some?" Xu Mu lowered his head, offering the segmented pomelo.

Bai Nian leaned against Xu Mu's shoulder, almost pressing half of his weight leaning him. His gaze was still fixed on the screen, his mouth instinctively opening.

Xu Mu fed him the pomelo flesh, his movements natural and skilled.

"... It's really exciting," Bai Nian murmured, "The brother's new girlfriend turns out to be the ex-wife's transgender nephew..."

Mrs. Bai sat with elegant posture, her cheongsam complementing her aura perfectly.

But as soon as he spoke, his impression changed.

"Not only that, they met when they were kids, and the nephew even called him brother," Bai Nian said.

"... The screenwriter is quite daring, creating a sense of fate all at once," Bai Nianye commented.

Xu Mu enjoyed peeling the pomelo and continued to feed Bai Nian.

Unconsciously, Bai Nian had eaten quite a few pieces.

"I can't eat anymore, my stomach is full of pomelo," Bai Nian said.

"Full?" Xu Mu touched his stomach and whispered, "Your waist is still slim, you have more flesh in your butt—"

Bai Nian stepped on him.

Xu Mu shut up in annoyance.

After about twenty minutes, Qin Yi finished cooking dinner.

"Dinner's ready," Qin Yi called out.

As Xu Mu sat down, he transformed into a "praise machine".

"Uncle, the food you made smells so good! It looks, smells, and tastes amazing!" Xu Mu exclaimed.

Qin Yi modestly said, "It's just ordinary home cooking."

Later, Xu Mu physically proved his praise by cleaning his plate.

"Uncle, your cooking is really delicious," Xu Mu sincerely complimented, not exaggerating, purely blowing rainbow farts, it was completely from the heart.

Qin Yi watched Xu Mu finish his meal with satisfaction.

"As long as Ah Mu likes it, I tried some new dishes these days while at home," Qin Yi said.

"Great, I'll help out in the kitchen then," Xu Mu said.

...

"Look at you, you're full, right?" Bai Nian chuckled, "You couldn't eat anymore, yet you still forced yourself."

He gently pressed Xu Mu's stomach, clearly indicating that he had eaten too much.

"It's okay," Xu Mu swallowed a digestive pill, solemnly saying, "After all, Uncle Qin made it with care, and it really tastes good, so I just ate a bit too much."

He paused and added, "Of course, my favorite is still Brother Nian's cooking."

Bai Nian gave him a side glance, "Always on highsight."

Xu Mu rolled around on Bai Nian's bed, feeling the softness and fluffiness.

He felt inexplicably excited.

"Did you use this bedsheet set before?" he asked.

"Yeah."

"It reminds me of you," Xu Mu sniffed the pillowcase and then hugged Bai Nian.

Bai Nian chuckled, "Is your mimicry really accurate? You're just like a little puppy."

"It's a feeling that can't be described, it’s not just the sense of smell," Xu Mu lightly brushed his cheek against Bai Nian's neck, slowly saying, "Brother, how would you rate my performance today?"

"In my eyes, it's perfect," Bai Nian combed Xu Mu's hair, gently massaging his scalp with his fingertips.

"You're being too biased," Xu Mu clicked his tongue, "I want a genuine evaluation."

Bai Nian smiled, "That's a bit difficult. People with biased hearts find it hard to be fair, especially when faced with exceptional cases."

A blush crept up on Xu Mu's ears, "Oh, uh, okay."

Contrary to his words, he kissed Bai Nian fiercely.

Bai Nian's mouth was thoroughly explored, and he turned into a puddle of softness.

"In the next few days, I'll make sure to perform well and strive for a perfect score," Xu Mu mumbled vaguely, "I will learn from Uncle Qin, the way to capture a man’s heart is through the stomach..."

Bai Nian's mind buzzed, not really catching what Xu Mu was saying.

But at the last moment, Xu Mu released his lips.

"Brother Nian, let's go to sleep and rest well," Xu Mu suggested.

He checked Bai Nian's neck and lips again, satisfied, "Hmm, no bite marks. By tomorrow, the swelling should go down..."

—After all, they were at Bai Nian's parents' house, not their own. They could do whatever they wanted behind closed doors, but they still needed to be careful here.

Once again.

Bai Nian felt a bit restless, his limbs feeling weak and soft.

He suspected that Xu Mu was intentionally teasing him.

But Xu Mu's reasoning was sound, and he couldn't argue back.

Holding Bai Nian, Xu Mu whispered, "Goodnight, Brother Nian."

Bai Nian took a deep breath, "Xu Mu, I've realized that your not only green from a bamboo green snake—”

"Huh?" Xu Mu looked confused, "What green?"

"The color green of a Ninja Turtle," Bai Nian said lightly, giving him a kick on his calf.

Xu Mu was hit hard.

"..." he muttered, "As long as it's not cuckold green."

Bai Nian slapped both of his fluffy ears, making a sound like "pop," on his face. If he had claws, he would've probably scratched him already.

E

Xu Mu: Hiss! Who said lop-eared rabbits are docile?

Isn’t this quite violent?
