The Beautiful Brother of the Orion’s Family (Wearing Book) - 162

Some of it was indeed affecting her physically.

Tang Xu, having just come in with hot water, was taken aback by the accusations.

He wasn’t one to take things lying down. He set the bowl down and said, “Third Aunt, it’s quite common to have a stomachache, but from the moment you entered my home, you’ve been stuffing your face with all kinds of sweets and snacks.

During dinner, you had a feast of meat and fish, and then cake afterward. Even if it were anyone else, eating like that would be overwhelming.”

“Now you’re blaming me, complaining that it’s a matter of life and death—how can it be so unfair~~~”

Tang Xu went on a rant, his voice rising in pitch as he wiped his eyes and started to cry.

His crying was dramatic, with tears streaming down his face, making him look woeful and heartbroken.

In the room, everyone, except for Li Xiu whose expression had changed drastically from being scolded, could only think one thing upon seeing Tang Xu’s display.

Why provoke him!

At this point, the old lady couldn’t care less about being angry. She reached out, grabbed Tang Xu’s wrist, and pulled him outside while saying, “Grandma knows you’re being wronged. Don’t cry; I’ll take care of this for you.”

Tang Xu wasn’t going to let the old lady pull him out like that. He sat down by the kang, wiped his nose, his eyes red, and with his lips slightly pressed down, said, “Grandma, I know you care about me, but I really can’t tolerate being slandered by Third Aunt like this.

Back then, when there was a commotion and everyone in the village was talking, I didn’t dare go out for a long time, fearing that the rumors would tarnish our family’s reputation. I was very happy when Third Aunt came to celebrate the children’s birthday, pregnant and all. I thought that by working hard, the family could have a joyful and lively time.

But after eating and drinking, why would she open her mouth and say such nonsense?”

“What grudge do I have with Third Aunt? Why does she always see our family in such a bad light? What will outsiders think if they hear this?”

Each question cut to the heart.

And it was indeed painful for both the old lady and the old man.

To put it plainly, when Li Xiu had her miscarriage and made a scene at Tang Xu’s doorstep, even though she was quickly sent away, the gossip and rumors had spread.

The villagers didn’t care about the truth; they just made up stories.

The old man, Tang Guangliang, who usually kept quiet, couldn’t help but exclaim at this moment, “That ignorant and foolish woman!”

Tang Xu lowered his eyes, his lashes trembling slightly, looking pitiful and delicate.

No matter what, today’s incident had nothing to do with him. If Li Xiu hadn’t provoked him, he wouldn’t have retaliated.

You can't keep letting someone defecate on you time and time again while you just smile and ask if they're comfortable.

Tang Xu had never been one to endure grievances silently. If they provoke him, he  won't let them forget the lesson for the rest of your life!

He gently sniffed, and with tears silently sliding down his cheeks, he said softly to the enraged Tang Guangliang, “Grandpa, don’t be angry. Take care of your health, I’m fine.”

Despite his words of reassurance, the tears kept falling.

With his appearance and demeanor, Tang Xu, who took his grievances quietly without shouting or causing a scene, had long won the hearts of many, showing his filial piety.

Wu Guizhi, feeling heartbroken, scolded her third son with a cold face, “Hurry up and take this stupid woman away. Don’t bring her around our house again. Seeing her just makes me feel ill. If she keeps hanging around, I might just die early!”

Her words were harsh, almost explicitly telling Tang Sanhu that the Tang family looked down on Li Xiu, and to avoid having anything to do with them in the future.

Luo Pingping sighed, wiping Tang Xu’s tears with a soft cloth, and said, “Don’t be upset, Xu Ge’er. We all know you’re a good person.”

It was clear to everyone who had a good heart.

Li Xiu never expected that being pregnant with the Tang family's blood would lead to such treatment. She had only said those words out of anger!

She straightened up, ready to argue, but was swiftly held back by Old Wen, who pushed her shoulder.

Old Wen chuckled and said gently, “If you want the baby in your womb to be born safely, you must not get angry. Even the gods cannot protect you if you are angry.”

Although the old Wen hadn’t personally witnessed the commotion when Li Xiu had her miscarriage before, having been in the family for so long, he was well aware of the gossip and drama. So his advice was given with sincere concern.

Old Xu nodded in agreement, adding, “When you go back, you need to stay in bed. I’ll prescribe some medicine to help with the pregnancy later. You must remember not to get angry while pregnant; it’s harmful to both yourself and the baby.”

At this moment, Wei Dong walked in from outside, placing a hand on Tang Xu’s shoulder and coldly saying, “I’ll take you back.”

It was clear who he was addressing, and Tang Sanhu’s face turned red with embarrassment as he silently picked up Li Xiu.

After they left, Tang Qi also came over to apologize to Tang Xu for the earlier commotion in the house.

Though he wasn’t very familiar with his cousin Tang Xu, he had brought a small bundle of clothes and added some advice, “You know how things are in your family. If you want to make changes, it’s better to do it sooner rather than later.”

Tang Xu glanced towards Tang Qi’s wife, who was talking with Tang Li.

Tang Qi sighed, accepting the small bundle with thanks. He then said with a wry smile, “I had mentioned the idea of separating the family when I married. My father said that since I’m the only son, once we split, there would be no one left to work the fields, and with two younger sisters also soon to marry, if we split, the family would fall apart.”

Tang Xu nodded lightly, understanding the difficulties faced by Tang Sanhu as a father.

However, he couldn’t agree with one thing—that valuing his wife to such an extent was almost blinding him to right and wrong.

Fortunately, their family wasn’t involved in the same kind of food business, so they hadn’t encountered situations like stealing family money.

Tang Xu patted Tang Qi’s shoulder and, seeing his dejected state, said, “You understand your uncle’s nature better than I do. There are things I won’t judge, but as a family, we shouldn’t let our partner and children suffer.”

Tang Qi nodded, acknowledging this point.

“Brother Xu, I’ll head back now. I’m really sorry for today.”

Tang Xu waved his hand, indicating that there was no need to be too concerned.

Since there was no mule cart, Tang Wei drove the cow cart to take them back. Wei Dong happened to be coming back with the cart and offered to give another lift.

Tang Guangliang and Wu Guizhi stayed behind, planning to rest for the night before heading back.

“You child, you don’t seem to endure any grievances at all,” Wu Guizhi  said as she sat on the kang, holding the drowsy baby, and glared at Tang Xu.

There was no one else in the room. Tang Xu, not one to be weak or feel wronged, sat by the edge of the kang and began folding the clothes that had been dried and laid out for the children.

“I invited her to a meal, fed her well, and now she says I poisoned her. We don’t even have a rat at home, where would I get poison? Should I go to the town to buy rat poison? If I had that time, I'd rather spend it with my three sons.”

The old lady replied, “... Why is your mouth so sharp?”

Tang Xu grumbled, “I didn’t say it to her face.”

“Lucky you didn’t. If you had, she’d be even angrier and might really cause trouble. I’m exhausted just thinking about it,” Wu Guizhi sighed, looking worn out.

Xiao Bao in her arms wiggled and then stood up, walking over to Tang Xu with his short legs and gave him a hug.

Tang Xu set aside the baby clothes he was holding, caught Xiao Bao, and patted his bottom, smiling as he asked, “Are you hungry?”

Xiao Bao tilted his head, watching his dad’s mouth move, and grinned back.

“Oh, our little one really knows how to smile,” the old lady said, momentarily forgetting her irritation, as she reached out to touch Xiao Bao’s smooth face.

Er Bao, originally playing with building blocks in the kang, saw his younger sibling wake up and quickly pushed the blocks aside, crawling over to grab him.

Tang Xu stopped him, saying, “Be gentle, don’t hurt your brother.”

Er Bao pouted, unhappy.

“Daddy’s not being mean to you,” Tang Xu said, seeing his unhappiness. He pulled Er Bao into his arms, rubbing his face, and compared their hands. “Look, your hand is much bigger than your brother’s, and you’re stronger. If you pull him, he might fall and get hurt, and then he’ll cry.”

Er Bao blinked his big eyes, his features sharp and handsome like Wei Dong’s, but still youthful.

When he looked at you with those dark eyes, it felt as if they could draw you in.

Tang Xu had noticed early on that his son’s pupils were darker and larger than the other two children’s, making him look very much like his father.

This made his gaze feel somewhat cold and intense when focused.

Despite this, Tang Xu found that although the child was more mischievous and lively, he was quite capable of being attentive.

After speaking, Tang Xu saw Er Bao take Xiao Bao’s hand, pouting and calling him “brother” in a childish voice.

Xiao Bao responded with a soft “brother,” though his pronunciation was unclear, sounding like “duo duo.”

Er Bao was already taller and sturdier than Xiao Bao, and nearly as big as the chubby boy. It wouldn’t be long before his height surpassed his older brother.

“This kid will grow up to be just like his father, tall and strong,” the old lady said, gently pinching Er Bao’s arms and legs, smiling. “Look at you, you really know how to have children. Our three treasures each have their own characteristics.”

Tang Xu nodded, thinking that indeed, it was clear that they were a family of five when they went out together.

“Don't promise them anything over there in the future.” the old lady suddenly said.

Tang Xu was taken aback, then realized she was referring to the family of Tang Sanhu. He thought for a moment and asked, “Grandma, are you not planning to help Uncle Sanhu anymore?”

“Help what? What does he need me to help?” Wu Guizhi snorted. “Look at the way he behaved today. Is that how a head of the family should act?”

Tang Xu gently rocked his two sons in his arms. “If Uncle Sanhu can’t stand up, do you think Ah Qi will stand strong?”

The old lady raised an eyebrow. “What, do you want to take him under your wing?”

“Not necessarily,” Tang Xu rubbed the top of Xiao Bao’s head with his chin. “Every time I’ve met Ah Qi these past two times, he’s apologized to me. His attitude is quite good. Just now, when I spoke to him, he looked quite helpless. After all, we are family. I can’t just watch them over there and not do anything.”

It wasn’t that he was being overly saintly, but business needed to expand. Having the family support was better than relying on outsiders, especially since Tang Qi’s side was likely eager to grasp the olive branch he extended.

TL: I am so confused with Sanhu’s and Liu Xi family, I vaguely remember that Liu Xi did not have a son and only had two daughter and a ger but now she has a son?? I remember one chapter of when Liu Xi was arguing with Liu Xiangxiang and that’s where it was mentioned that she did not have a son out of all her sister-in-laws and that was why she wanted a son so badly.

I might have TL that part wrongly as Tang Qi is obviously a man and not a ger like I thought since it is mentioned here that he has a wife.

If any wonderful reader can type in the comments which chapter Liu Xi and Liu Xiangxiang were fighting in so I can go back and re-translate it (it was around the time TX found out about his background). I would greatly appreciate it!

  1. Found it!
At chapter 52, Li Xiu gets into an argument with Liu Xiangxiang. In one paragraph it's said that she only has one son (instead of two, and that her daughters and ger will eventually leave the house) and, at the next one, it is said she's the only one without a son.
Then, at chapter 68, you clarified "Tang Qi(ger)".
I couldn't find any more mentions...

Thank you for your hard work!

  4. I think it's the author who is wrong? in this chapter Tang qi suddenly turns into a man? Didn't Li Xiu intend to have a boy from the start of her current pregnancy? in the previous chapter it was explained that if she had to give birth to a boy, if it was a girl "again" she would have to abort it
