After Being Stranded in the Wilderness, I Became the Bride of the Giant Tribe - 125

Early summer, just after a rain shower, the sunlight reappeared as the rain lightened, and auspicious clouds painted a magnificent scene.

A rainbow arched over the eastern part of the tribe, its vibrant and beautiful colors attracting numerous orcs who were at work. They paused their tasks, tilting their heads back to gaze in awe at the stunning spectacle.

Had it not been for the priest's weekly lessons explaining the phenomenon of "rainbows," the orcs would have prostrated themselves at the sight of the auspicious clouds, shouting praises to the Orc God for a divine manifestation!

Even though the orcs now understood that rainbows were a natural phenomenon, seeing one firsthand still stirred their emotions, and their conversations revolved around this topic.

Yu Bai had taken a nap and was awakened midway by Huo Duo'er.

Huo Duo'er had gone out to work shortly after lunch. Yu Bai, suddenly roused from sleep, wasn't annoyed. His eyes were soft, filled with a bit of confusion, as he mumbled against Huo Duo'er's chest, "Why are you back?"

Huo Duo'er's arms slid under Yu Bai's knees and waist, lifting him up and carrying him outside.

Yu Bai was puzzled until he saw the rainbow hanging in the sky. Meeting Huo Duo'er's warm and calm gaze, he caught a glimpse of anticipation in the orc's eyes and immediately understood his intentions.

Who said Huo Duo'er didn't know how to be romantic?

Yu Bai, barefoot, nestled in Huo Duo'er's embrace, his hair slightly tousled with a few strands sticking up, looking content as they quietly admired the brilliant colors of the rainbow.

As the rainbow faded, Yu Bai reached up, his fingers threading through the orc's loose hair, gently rubbing his ears.

Huo Duo'er's gaze darkened slightly, his voice a bit hoarse, "Bai."

Yu Bai's eyes curved into a smile, a faint blush appearing on his cheeks.

He lightly kissed Huo Duo'er's cheek, "We've seen the rainbow, you can put me down now."

The sunlight returned, and the rain-dampened ground quickly dried, leaving a coolness in the air.

Taking advantage of this coolness, the orcs focused more intently on their tasks.

Huo Duo'er had only briefly left his work to return. Although he longed to spend time alone with his mate, now was not the time.

"I'll be back before evening."

Yu Bai hummed in acknowledgment. Huo Duo'er hurried off, sweat glistening on his neck, exposed chest, and arms.

Yu Bai, barefoot, went inside and fetched a piece of linen cloth for Huo Duo'er to drape around his neck.

"Use this to wipe your sweat, wash it tonight."

Huo Duo'er nodded slightly, bending down to brush his lips against Yu Bai's forehead before quickly heading back to work.

Yu Bai put on his linen sandals, washed up, tidied the vegetable garden, closed the courtyard gate, and went out.

He first walked around the fields, observing along the way and noting that the various orc tribes that had joined a few months ago were adapting quite well.

To prevent the orcs from sticking to their own tribe, Xiu had dispersed them among different leaders. The elderly and weaker ones followed Lian and others to gather and forage.

On the mountain, some orcs from Huangyuan were transporting cut timber to the tribe, while others were learning to craft household tools alongside the original tribe members.

A portion of the gray mouse orcs collaborated with the lynx orcs to construct houses, while another group followed Ze out. Their small size made them less advantageous in hunting, so they were primarily responsible for exploring stone mines. The remaining group, led by the elder and the two brothers, Chang Sheng and another, focused on manufacturing and research alongside other orcs.

In the vast orc world, there were too many untapped and undiscovered resources. Yu Bai placed great emphasis on exploration and manufacturing, assigning these tasks to orcs who were particularly skilled in these areas.

He arrived outside a large shed where several gray mouse orcs, heads bowed and hands clutching something, were moving in and out. Upon seeing him, they paused momentarily before quickly reacting.

"Priest Bai~"

Yu Bai noticed their dazed expressions and the faint dark circles under their eyes, which made him curious.

"You all didn’t rest well?"

The gray mouse orc scratched his head: "Priest Bai, we... we've been following Chang Sheng these past few days..."

The one who hadn't spoken nudged the speaker, causing the orc to stammer and lower his head, visibly anxious.

Yu Bai was puzzled. The two gray rat orcs were straightforward, their emotions clearly written on their faces. It seemed they had been instructed by someone not to tell him immediately.

He walked into the shed and headed inside. Several large pots stood against the wall, boiling something. In the opposite direction, a row of wooden containers was set up. Chang Sheng was lying on a table, his back to him, completely absorbed.

The busy orcs around them stopped their work. A’Di turned his head, looking at him with his mouth slightly open.

A’Di’sdark circles were much more pronounced than the others', but his spirits were high, seemingly excited about something.

A’Di nudged his brother: "Chang Sheng, Priest Bai is here!"

Unable to keep it to himself, before Chang Sheng could speak, A’Di quickly approached Yu Bai, his eyes shining with joy and eagerness, his pointed ears twitching.

"Priest Bai, we think we've made paper!"

He rambled on: "If it weren't for Chang Sheng saying he wanted to give Priest Bai a surprise, I... hmph..."

He would have rushed to report to Priest Bai earlier.

Chang Sheng stepped aside, somewhat awkward: "Priest Bai, I... I didn't mean to hide it..."

The gray mouse clan had been attending the priest's lectures for several months and had already realized the importance of paper and pens. To repay the kindness, they had privately discussed ways to create these two items.

But just making paper resulted in failure many times.

Each time they were filled with hope and joy, only to face another failure. Chang Sheng , feeling helpless, dared not inform the priest in advance, fearing it would lead to everyone's disappointment.

Yu Bai examined the formed substance in the wooden mold. Chang Sheng perked up and quickly explained: "We've tried over a dozen methods. Now, we're using wood vine fibers, wood pulp, and a kind of fruit pulp, mixing them in proportion and boiling them to create the paper you see."

Chang Sheng continued: "A few days ago, Lian collected a kind of fruit with black skin outside. The juice from that black fruit has a strong adhesive property. I thought it could be used as glue to make paper..."

Chang Sheng paused halfway, scratching his head.

"P-priest Bai, I... I shouldn't have hidden it from you..."

Yu Bai's lips curved slightly: "Look at how dark your eyes are. How could I be angry?"

If Chang Sheng succeeded, not only would he not be reprimanded, but according to the tribe’s rules, he would also be rewarded.

He leaned over the table and reached out to touch the already formed and dried object in the mold.

It wasn't as thin as modern paper, but for this era, it was already quite remarkable.

Chang Sheng held his breath, and the surrounding orcs formed a circle, fearing that the paper in the mold might break.

They had repeated this process dozens of times, and each time they took it out, it would shatter.

Yu Bai carefully picked up the paper; it felt quite smooth to the touch. He gently rubbed it with his fingertips, feeling the texture of the paper.

A’Di took a deep breath and reminded everyone, "You can breathe now!"

The orcs quickly took deep breaths and suddenly laughed with joy, "We succeeded, the paper didn't break, we succeeded!"

"Priest Bai, we finally made the paper you talked about!"

Chang Sheng’s hands trembled as he fumbled in his pocket, pulling out a piece of charcoal from a linen bag.

"Priest Bai..."

Yu Bai took the charcoal and wrote a few words on the paper. His fair face spread into a smile, and he nodded affirmatively at the nervous orcs, giving them a thumbs-up.

A’Di and the other orcs hugged each other, while Chang Sheng took a few steps back and sat on a stool, grinning foolishly.

He was so exhausted that once his mind relaxed, his eyelids could no longer stay open, and he fell asleep on the table, snoring.

Seeing this, Yu Bai signaled everyone to be quiet and instructed A’Di to take Chang Sheng back, urging the orcs who hadn't slept much recently to go and rest.

Because they successfully made paper, Chang Sheng and A’Di moved out of the greenhouse. The two brothers were assigned a house, and the group of orcs who had worked with them to develop the paper also received rewards.

This made other orcs envious, as they had some prejudice, thinking that the gray mouse orcs were not capable of much.

Yet, something that the elders had racked their brains over and couldn't achieve was accomplished by Chang Sheng and his team in just a few months!

The black fruit that Lian collected was also very useful. Yu Bai tried the juice of the black fruit, and indeed, as Chang Sheng had said, it was very sticky, like glue.

With the juice of the black fruit, he crushed the carbonized wood blocks into powder after burning, then used the black fruit juice to bind it, rolling it into long, thin strips and letting it dry.

In this way, they obtained a simple and rough charcoal pencil core.

He found the old craftsman in the tribe, who, according to his requirements, carved a few wooden pen holders and embedded the charcoal pencil cores into them, thus creating the first charcoal pencil.

Because Lian discovered the black fruit, after registering with Xiu, she also received a good reward.

Seeing this situation, the sub-females of other orc tribes were gradually motivated.

It was only then that they realized that the tribe's rules were not false, and that sub-females could also play their part, and were no longer the most inconspicuous or least significant members of the tribe!

As the priest said, the most shameful are the orcs who only eat and do not work, are lazy!

In the following half month, the gray mouse orcs and the sub-females of various orc tribes were full of energy, and the orcs of other tribes, fearing to be outdone, worked even harder.

On the day of rest, Xiu found Huo Duo'er and Yu Bai, and after discussing, they decided to hold a barbecue bonfire party in the afternoon.

As spring passed and the hottest part of summer arrived, the orcs became increasingly restless, and daily frictions and conflicts grew more frequent.

Xiu planned to let the orcs eat and drink in a relatively comfortable environment, with another important goal in mind: to solve the lifelong matters of single orcs.

When Yu Bai and Huo Duo'er went to the seaside, they brought back the Gray Mouse tribe. Man rescued the Mountain Lynx Clan from the Huangyuan Tribe, along with other orc clans. Among these orcs, there were nearly three hundred female orcs.

Especially those from the Mountain Lynx Clan, who had previously been treated as slaves. After being rescued, most of them were single.

After more than half a year of recuperation, the female orcs had recovered quite well both physically and mentally.

Xiu tapped the wooden board in his hand: "Taking advantage of today's opportunity, let's hold a..."

Yu Bai, seeing him struggle for words, chimed in: "Matchmaking event."

Xiu nodded: "Exactly."

If it worked out, that would be ideal. It would not only provide more security for the relatively weaker orcs but also soothe the male orcs, easing the tension within the tribe.

Huo Duo'er took Yu Bai's hand and placed it on his knee, not saying a word, which indicated he had no objections.

Yu Bai thought of something and added: "When it comes to finding a partner, there's no need for strict rules. The tribe values freedom in marriage. As long as they take a liking to each other and get along well, it doesn't matter if the other is a male orc, female orc, or even a sub-female orc—they can form a pair."

Xiu responded: "Yes."

Not long after the news spread, large pots were set up in the square. Male orcs slaughtered cattle, sheep, and pigs from the farm, and a group of orcs with better culinary skills in the square were kept busy.

As night fell, Yu Bai and Huo Duo'er sat in the chief and priest's seats. Under the table, the giant's large hand held Yu Bai's slender, delicate hand, rubbing it gently in his palm while watching the lively scene below.

The orcs sat cross-legged on hemp cloth mats in their designated spots. Upon hearing about the "matchmaking," they all became excited.

Man didn't seem to care much, while A Liao scratched his head, seemingly recalling some unpleasant memories.

Most of the giants were still single, and the reason was simple: they were too strong. As the most powerful orc clan, other orcs respected them, but because of this respect, they dared not approach them.

Some of the more timid ones would shiver when they encountered giants. The sheer presence of the giant tribe made them fearful.

A’Liao said: "This matchmaking event... maybe we shouldn't participate..."

A’Liao remembered how Man's attempt at courtship had ended up scaring the other party into fainting. He sighed and shook his head: "Forget it, forget it."

Man snorted.

Ze walked over from another table to join them, and the giant orcs, including A’Liao, greeted him.

"Ze, are you here to drink with Man again?"

Ze smiled slightly, and Man suddenly teased him: "Did you find a female orc you like?"

Ze didn't respond, so Man took it as a yes.

Looking at Ze's handsome, smiling face, Man felt a bit annoyed.
